Fabianski Given Chance As Vela Welcomes Dos Santos

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has won the right to battle with Celtic’s Arthur Boruc for a place in the Polish national team, after Manchester United number two Tomasz Kuszczak was ruled out for the duration of Euro 2008 with a back problem.

Fabianski finished last season with appearances for both the Reserves and the first team, and is regarded as one of the brightest shot stopping prospects in his homeland. He will now wait to see if he will be starting against Germany tomorrow, although it is expected he will have to make do with a place amongst the substitutes.

Following on from Young Guns article on the comparisons between Arsenal’s Carlos Vela and Tottenham’s Giovanni Dos Santos, the Gunners forward Vela has welcomed his fellow countryman and close friend to London. He admits although Mexicans have previously found life difficult in Europe, the quality is improving all the time and the pair feel ready to compete in England.

“We’re going to be near each other. Hopefully, we both do well. We’ve seen that we can do it,”

“In the beginning we thought it was very hard—that the soccer was on a different level. But now we’re seeing the players are succeeding.”

He went on to discuss one of the things he is most looking forward to during the coming season, citing playing in the Champions League as a “dream”.

“England is going to be different,” said Vela. “It’s going to be hard the first few months. But you adapt over time.”

“It will be a dream (to play in the Champions League),” I’ve always watched it on television and playing in it will be amazing.”

I look forward to seeing Vela at Emirates cup hopefully along with Nasri. These players will give us more choice and more strength in depth. Also good to hear Fabianski is getting a chance, i know he had a bad game against Spurs but overall i think he looks like a good goalie and can deff become Arsenal’s Petr Cech.

Yep good points John, Vela says Wenger told him he will debut against Juventus in the opening game.

I have always been a fan of Fabianski, and i feel he just need a run in the team.

I dont think that will be the case because he is more likely to get games at Arsenal than at Real Madrid, Barca etc.. Also hes sighted Arsene Wenger as a major reason for wanting to come to Arsenal and with the numbers of French players at Arsenal he is much more likely to settle at Arsenal than another club.

Vela definitely! And that’s an honest opinion. When I watch both of them Vela seems like the more intelligent player. The situation with Nasri has already been clarified it was NOT wages!

I do not want Deco to Arsenal, he is too immobile. His passing ability is second to none but that is not enough. He would never get a game ahead of Fabregas and that is pretty much the only position he can play in. Moutinho, on the other hand, looks like a good prospect. He seems to be in the Flamini mould, just even better. I admit that today was the first game I saw with Moutinho but his reputation must be high for a reason. Plus, he was picked ahead of Veloso.

If Wenger has any intentions of getting the likes of Veloso or Villa he should do it soon. When United sell Ronaldo they will enter the transfer market with a strong force. I am certain that if Ronaldo leaves, United will buy a top, top player. That might be Benzema, Villa or Aguero, only time will tell.

dom u are indeed a twat, why lie about things that didnt happen. why on earth would wenger want to sign kazim richards, granted he had a good game today but wengers not gonna make a decision on one performance – get a life every gooner knows ur lying. Also Moutinho offer’s far more attacking abilities than flamini can or ever could have done.

Wenger never names his targets in advance so I find your comment very hard to believe Dom. Although Kazim-Richards had a good game.

You say this is the first time you’ve seen him so i’ll school you: he’s traditionally an acm not a dm. And to be perfectly honest, he’s like a rubbish hleb, but as he occasionally shoots, that makes him an ok hleb. Nasri shits on him from a great height.

We’ve been linked with kazin richards for an age, as we have most players, I don’t see any truth in it. I think he’ll end up somewhere like Newcastle or Boro.

When it comes to transfers I had to laugh at yommis01 saying “our lack of activities is killing me as a person”.

Relax, people. Wenger is hardly a cult leader who won’t be happy until all Arsenal fans commit mass suicide. Then again, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if some of these deluded depressives top themselves…

Moutinho was picked before Veloso because he plays a similar role like Fabregas and Veloso plays as defensive midfielder like petit. Scolari opted for experience as a lot of manager do these days. Veloso and Moutinho played the whole season alongside and were a very succesfull duo. I think both players would be good players for Arsenal. I just don’t think Moutinho can play alongside Fabregas. As for Kazim Kazim, Arsenal can’t be seriously interested in him?!!

There is no way AW will buy Kazim. If Kazim comes to Arsenal, Pakistan is going to united with India soon.
