Arsenal Agree Deal For FC Sion's Monteiro

Arsenal have made their third raid of the summer on the Swiss League by adding FC Sion left back Elton Monteiro Almada to the captures of fellow defenders Martin Angha and Sead Hajrovic.

The 15-year-old powerhouse has already been in London for a trial over the summer and it now appears a deal has been struck which will see Elton complete the switch on his 16th birthday, which is in late February. Monteiro is a giant and imposing defender who has a great turn of pace and is solid in the air. He is also known to weight in with goals, something he’s done on handful of occasions for Sion’s Under 16 side.

Monteiro has been quickly promoted through the ranks at Sion as he’s been physically twice the size of most of the players in his age group. Elton was part of the side which was beaten by Martin Angha’s FC Zurich in the Nike Cup last year, and the pair will link up in a Swiss dominated Under 18’s over the coming seasons.

More to follow.

My only concern is that he will turn out good :)

We are in massive danger of having a left back pile up. Saying that, playing positions at this level don’t count for much as we have learnt from Gibbs shift to left back.

on behalf of j, I can confirm with you that you’re right.
The person on the left is recently signed Martin Angha. Elton Monterio is the one on the right.

Any ideas about Senderos, J? What is happening with him? Wenger talked about him having several proposals to consider? What are these proposals?

And I would see it as a perfect solutions for the development and balance of midfield if 4 legend came back as a tutor/ player…though the sun. And it also depends on Vieras fitness. But all these midfielders coming through am very skeptic about hampering their development by signing a midfielder. For once signing an aging player would be a nice solution in my opinion

J, who could step up on right back if Eboue follows Toure out? Is it too early for Hoyte or can he do a Gibbs?

sorry but hoyte is much worse than his brother justin. GH will never make it for Arsenal that´s for sure.
Right now there is only one player who will make it for sure and that is Jack Wilshere. Scheszny will be Arsenal´s number 1 in 4 years time

sebjob – My opinion is that we’re not blessed with much coming through at right back. Strange because our left back options especially when Pedro returns next year are overwhelming.

What are other people thoughts on G.Hoyte? I’m not convinced.

Was Cocquelin any good at RB when he played there last season?

Coquelin is interesting, I do not have the possibility to see any of the youth matches, but it is interesting if any of the youth midfielders can have a learning curve at right back like Flamini did at left back

So… Anyone know when we will buy a Swiss right back? LOL. At this rate the U16/U18 squad will have an all-Swiss backline… Not that it is a bad thing if they are good, which is exactly the point of buying them in the first place.

Sebjob – I agree with you 100%. A young player coming into the first team very rarely starts in the heart of the midfield or defence. Cesc often played on the right when he first broke through, we’ve seen Lansbury used on the right hand side of the midfield and defence and of course the example of Flamini and Toure beforehand.

The only reason I can see Wenger letting Eboue go is to blood Coquelin and Frimpong on a few occasions this year. The only other consideration is to play a young centre back should Sagna be unavailable.

Gavin Hoyte was very disappointing at Watford.
Coquelin is much closer to the real deal.
Also just mentioning but if I had to pick I’d say Henri Lansbury has got as good a chance as anybody of doing a Gibbs –
and he played imo unobtrusively well at RB in the CC last year.

I would definitely play Coquelin at RB ahead of Gavin. Hoyte always gives me this uneasy feeling whenever the ball comes his way. He has this uneasy style that makes him look as though he is panicking and not sure what to do. A bit like how Kolo could be at times.

Speaking of Kolo, did anyone else catch his interview on SSN when he accidently referred to Citeh as ‘Money City’ before quickly realising his mistake and rectifying it? Hahahahahaha. Fuckin hilarious!

Henri lanbsury scored a crackin goal its 1-1 man lansbury is so like Steven gerrard gets a goal out of nothing. He inspires everyone. Hes really is like steven gerrard. England just have to get the ball to him hes created the free kcik which led to the goal. England keep hoofing they cant keep the ball enough

France are totally outplaying them. What’s with Rhys on the wing? He’ll take him off soon cos he’ll think he hasn’t given enough. Wellbeck is originally a winger and Murphy is originally a striker. What’s with this dickhead Swain?

Brian Eastick hasnt got a clue. England got lucky. Man England dont pass the ball well, lansbury hardly touched the ball. Muprhy on the wing is a joke. How many long balls to welbeck, ranger. Delfouenso quality hes going to be better than Young and agbonhalor

My bad, my bad. I meant Eastick (i knew that as well). Dont know why i said Swain even though he’s a fool too.

They love to hype Wellbeck don’t they? He’s a good talent but i would have Delfouneso ahead of him anyday. And i dont just base that on today. I’ve felt that way for a while now.

Drinkwater is shit. Surely there’s a better midfielder than him they could play in there.

Overall, England were lucky today. The French played so much better than them but ran out of steam. Especially after the ref jinalzed them by sending off their really good right back. They have some very good players in that team though and were very unlucky today. The boy Brahimi has phenomenal technical ability. Better than probably anyone i’ve seen at that age. The ball just sticks to his feet.

If we are using Senderos to convince Swiss players to come here, I presume that means he’s staying, ergo, no new CB. That our he’s saying to these kids “Yeah, come here, I might be leaving because the club lets go of you eventually when yr development cocks up a bit and they lose faith in you, but you’ll meet Cesc Fabregas!”

How bout Wilshere, Thomas, Frimpong etc. Didn’t see match and not sure were Drinkwater plays or just how shit he is but there are also players like Rodwell and Delph who would probably be eligible but have got better things to do.

Haha. Marvin, I know that, we all know that. It’s a shame Eastick doesn’t know that. He seems to take a fancy to Man Utd youngsters who clearly aren’t as good as some may think. In fact, every one of those players you just mentioned are better players than Drinkwater. I was just being sarcastic mate. I’m a bit pissed off with the way the entire England youth set-up is run.

Oh and btw, i’m not basing my opinion on Drinkwater on this one performance. I’ve seen him play many, many times before. Capable of doing good things on the odd occasion but nowhere near good enough to be playing in this side when there’s players like the ones you just mentioned (except Rodwell, who can’t play here as he has already played for the u21’s this summer) and a few others who haven’t been called up..

Don’t be a fool, Gitesh. Can you name me a top-class Liberian player playing now? No. But George way was brilliant. How about Berbatov for Bulgaria, Hleb for Belarus, Palacios and Suazo for Honduras. The list goes on. Anyway there are some very good Swiss players currently coming through. Behrami has been excelent at West Ham, Barnetta looks a good player for Leverkusen. Do you really think that all players from the same country are as good as each other? In that case, I’m as good as Steven Gerrard.

We are in need of a midfielder .. That’s maybe a wrong decision for AW to keep investing in defenders because we got too many defenders in our youth system and it keeps adding much more ….
