Diminutive striker Luke Freeman has collected the Lamb Awards sponsored Young Guns Player Of The Month crown for November 2009, after the powerful front-man bagged two goals and maintained his position at the top of the Reserves and Youth goalscoring charts.

Luke’s month began on the 2nd when he played the final 13 minutes for the Reserves as they went down 2-0 to Portsmouth. The young forward replaced Sanchez Watt and looked bright but couldn’t find the net to help start a late fight back.

Five days later Freeman was in action again as the struggling Under 18′s took on Charlton at London Colney. He walked away with two goals in a 6-0 win and could have had even more if it wasn’t for some smart goalkeeping from the Addicks. The efforts were his 8th and 9th of the season.

Following the international break, Luke’s next outing was the Under 18 clash with Southampton on the South Coast. The youngster didn’t net in the 3-0 win but he came close on numerous occasions and turned in a typical hard-working shift alongside Benik Afobe. The two are forming a lethal partnership in attack for Steve Bould’s boys.

The former Gillingham and Charlton trainee is the first player to win the Player of the Month gong twice, after previously winning it in August 2008. You can see the full list of winners Here.

I really like his movement and his link-up play & touch is getting better.

All 9 have come in the Under 18′s, he’s only been used a bit in the Reserves. And yeah I’d agree supergunner, he’s come on leaps and bounds to when he first joined.

J i hear Arsenal have signed brazilian wonderkid Zezinho. Any truth in that? If yes, what sort of player is he?

  15. comment by sebjob

yes, that is what is so refreshing about this site. It does not jump the bandwagon of lunatics to have Wenger fired, throw out all the youth and get ageing stars. It keeps the rationale about the project that has lasted years, when the wind blows us forward as before the Sunderland game, and popularly against us as now. Who would really go back to the days of Graham when youth system was ignored?

Think Wenger is genius by the way, how all the storm is on him for a simple hand shake rather than on the team. Wonderful way of carrying the load for the youngsters

J., is there any way for Arsenal supporters who do not have access to Arsenal TV, as I understand down now but on-line, or any other channel that shows highlights from youth and reserves?

  17. comment by Milo

Yeah I admit I have been hard on Wenger but not because of that stupid handshake lol. I don’t really like Mark Hughes either!! haha. I understood completely. I love the youth system!! Hopefully whomever succeeds Arsene will keep it strong!! I really hope we can get Lukaku but even if we don’t Bendtner is still very young and if Afobe stays then it doesn’t really matter. I wish we were still in the carling cup:(

I agree with super spurs, not only becausethey are yeads, but the last time arsenal won somthing was, hold on I don’t remenber, although the emirates cup is nearly as big as the champions league ISN’T IT. I THOUGH WALCOTT WAS THE NEXT MARADONA, Lennon has done loads more than him and poses a higher risk. Its about time you gooners won something and stopped being the weakest team in the top four, because soon a certain team I happen to like will take your place and actuall WIN SOMETHING
