Reserves Postponed As Sunu Signs New Deal

Neil Banfield’s Reserves will not be action this evening, after the referee postponed the encounter, citing the poor weather conditions which have affected much of England over night. The Gunners were due to welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Underhill as they continue their title push, but a thick layer of ice has now been snowed upon, making the conditions treacherous in North London.

Elsewhere, BBC Radio Derby were reporting over the weekend that Gilles Sunu has indeed signed a new Arsenal contract. The Frenchman joined the Rams on Friday afternoon and played most of 1-0 defeat to Swansea at Pride Park. He reportedly spoke to the station after the game where he confirmed he had signed on for an extended period. We will update with further news shortly.

In other news, Under 18 right-back Rhema Obed has been told he is free to find a new club. The powerful defender is another product of the Hale End Academy, but several mistakes and poor performances during his two-year scholarship have seen Liam Brady decide against giving him an improved deal. The prospect is current on trial with Leeds United. Rhema’s current contract expires in May.

Wasn’t there a report (not here) in the last week or so that Sunu was leaving Arsenal this summer? I’d really prefer if he stayed wearing the Red & White, so the new contract is good news, J. :)

Very true, I think we’ve yet to really see the best from Gilles. Another potentially great young player signed up by the club, really keeps this group together so they can all learn.

Great news, from the reports I have read Sunu seems to have more to come, and his captaincy in the youth cup showed a lot of trust in his talents

It’s not that they are late. They just have stricter standards and can’t do so until ALL the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed. There can’t be any contractual wiggle room that allows for egg to be on their face.

    Sell Almunia
Sell Fabianski (or make 3rd choice keeper)
    Sell Senderos
    Sell Silvestre
    Sell Clichy
    Sell Eduardo

    Buy Sakho

    ………………………………………Szczęsny/Mannone………………………………………
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
    …………………..Gallas/Djourou/Nordveit……Vermaelen/Sakho/Bartley………………..
    …………………………………………………………………………………………………….
    …………………………………………………………………………………………………….
    …….Sagna/Eboue/Coquelin………………………….Gibbs/Traore/Sakho/Botelho…….
    ……………………….Song/Vermaelen/Sakho/Djourou/Frimpong………………………..
    …………………………………………………………………………………………………….
    ………………………….Diaby/JET/Aneke/Denilson/Eastmond……………………………
    …………………………………………………………………………………………………….
    …………………….Fab/Diaby/JET/Rosic/Rambo/Nasri/Aneke/Merida……………………
    …Bendt/Ebo/Rosic/Arsh/Walc/Watt…….Arsh/Vela/Rosic/Diaby/Wilsh/Trao/Gibbs…..
    …………………………………………………………………………………………………….
    ………………………Van P/Bendt/Diaby/JET/Afoebe/Sunu/Freeman…………………..

The biggest question is: Would you refuse a £60 million+ offer for Fabregas?

      this looks horrible Ah…………ah…………..ah
People forget how much experience can do for a player ?
Clichy is probably the 3rd best LB in the world right and you want to sell him
Eduardo is coming back from an injury but I think he will be nothing more than a squad player now
I am still convinced Fabianski has what it takes to become a world class keeper
he an excellent shot stopper all he needs is to get his jitters under control
Almunia is OK not great but OK I wont be happy or sad if we sell him.
      Sendros is already gone
Silvestre will be nothing more than a squad player so dont care if he signs or not

Sakho you must play too many game he’s ok but nothing great and he’s pretty expensive

      —————————–Almunia
      Sagna ———- Gallas ——– Vermaelen ——– Clichy
      ——– Fabregas ——- Song ——- Diaby
Van Persie ————- Chamak ————– Arshavin

I think Djoruru will be a given a chance to prove himself this summer and wenger will probably add a young defender and Chamak and that will be it for us this summer
I think the most important thing will be to keep Gallas, Fabregas and Merida for next season.

Jay Simpson is a good player but there are too many better players in front of him right now
If Theo didn’t get in than I don’t think there was too much chance of SImpson getting in
Theo is still not fully back to his best, even in the Sunderland game his final ball or cross wasn’t up to the mark lets hope he gets that back and Capello keeps his eye open.

I have never seen Sunu as becoming a regular first team player.
I think he might become a squad player but not talented enough to be a regular
    anyway
    Any news about Raheem Sterling?
is it true that United are favorite to sign him

Andrew, Sunu is no squad player. That type of speed and thrust already, he is either headed for Thierry Henry or Anelka level, of he becomes a bust like a Babel or Djibril Cisse or David Belllion. I doubt there will be an in-between.

The difference at this point will be down to the kid’s ability to understand what he needs to do in terms of learning – fast – in order to be in a position to make the speed count. That means he has got to develop the ability to bring the ball under control flawlessly in one touch, use both feet with ease, shoot with precision, make the correct runs off the ball and when passing.

THOSE are the things that actually made a Therry Henry who he is. Everyone notices the speed, but actually he did crazy amounts of work to get his technical and tatical skills to world class level. The speed – well a lot of people as are fast as Thierry, but never made it. Dennis Bergkamp talks about this many times – how Henry came here with a crazy work eithic and would spend ages on the training ground with him and Pires. They didnt just PLAY the game – they lived, breathed and ate it. Such hunger goes beyond money – its something else entire. A will to acheive. To be not just A player but THE BEST.

THAT is what will make or break Sunu. Ditto for Walcott, who at the moment, doesnt look to me like he is doing the level of work he needs to on the training ground. In fact when I look at these young guys its mainly Ramsey and Conquelin I see who seem to understand what they need to do. Maybe Sanchez Watt and Eastmond. Most of the rest are coasting too much for my liking including Wishere, who okay dwells on the ball far too long. To be in the Arsenal system for so many years, they should be further ahead technically than they are now.

When a Fabregas or was playing at age 17, he was not fumbling the ball. You send it to his foot and it stuck and he was already making the next pass. That is what allowed him to do the rest of the job. At the top level its all about micro-seconds. You waste it the time and the space is gone, no matter how fast you are.

Why people expect so much from a player who has just come back from Injury I will never know.
Walcott has been injured for the most part of this season and expecting him to tear defenses apart is a but premature
Also he’s not even 21, Even he was fully fit I dont think he’s capable of that right now he has a lot to improve upon. I think Wenger said it right talk to me about him when he reaches 23-24
As for Sunnu, Pace and speed isn’t everything its what you do with that counts
From all I have seen of him I can see that he’s good player but its never looks like he will make it into the first team (my opinion)
I think most of us forget that from most of these youngster only a handful of youngsters will make it. I dount even Watt or SImpson will make it

from the current youth crop maybe these players might make

      Striker
      Afobe
      Ansah
      Freeman (maybe)

      Midifield
      Aneke
      ozzie
      Henderson (maybe)

      Defense
      Miguel

as for the reserve a lot of who makes it and who is sold to a championship side depends how they do on their loan and how much they progress

These players are currently on Loan and in my opinion these might make it into the first team
    Sendros – already gone
Jack – yes but will probably be loaned I think
SImpson – Will be sold or released
    Gilbert – already gone
Lansbury – looks like he will make it (still doubtful)
Bartley – he has impressed in his loan spell (should make it)
Sunnu – to early to comment on
Norvedit – he looks good and then looks awful (but that maybe because of the team he plays for)
Hoyte – I think he has got what it take it make but needs to prove himself in a championship side
Szczesny – Hell yeah I have never seen a better young keeper
Murphy – if only he wasn’t so injury prone
mark Randall – he wont make it
Watt – he looks like a good player but needs to prove himself in a championship side first

so from all the loaness Wilshere, Szczesny are the only I know will make it
