Hi, can someone clarify this - a couple of years ago there was a new rule put in place by the FA. This rule stated that any player who is serving a domestic ban can not represent England. If this is still the case how come Shawcross has been called up or can i assume that this rule was removed?

Iceland-Arsenal fans are disgusted by the way Arsenal are treated year after year.

There must be something done to stop this ! This is not football in any understanding.

Im sick and feeling afraid before any game. I wonder who will have his leg broken next ?

Good stop this horror.

Either hes malicious or simply incompetent. He has broken legs before and it will probably happen again if the FA dont make a strong statement. You just can not commit that way in a "50-50" situation, and especially not follow through when the opponent clearly gets there first. A person who is not smart enough to understand the dangers of such a tackle simply dosent belong on the pitch especially considering it has happend twice.

And blah blah blah, poor Ryan. Hes 22 and obviously had his mother driving him home, cute. I couldnt care any less if hes sad about this, just try to imagine yourself in Ramseys shoes. This shit need to stop ASAP.

Sadly it isn't just Arsenal who receive tackles which cause injuries.

- Kieron Dyer suffered an horrific leg break at the hands of Bristol Rovers' Joe Jacobson.
- Dean Ashton suffered a career ending ankle injury at the hands of Shaun Wright-Phillips.
- Scott Parker suffered a lengthy injury at the hands of Arsenal's own Mathieu Flamini.

All teams receive and have almost certainly dished out these tackles. However, now it is quite clear that the Shawcross tackle was just mis-timed, rather than malicious, it would be good if this site could change it's article and not put the blame on Shawcross.

All the best to Ramsey. A prodigious talent for Wales and Arsenal. One of the best young players in Europe, certainly in the central midfield position.

The pathetic excuse that Ryan Shawcross is not that type of player is patently not true as he has already broken the leg of another player and tried to our players before.
http://content.thisis.co.uk/sentinel07/homepage/ad_panel/sentinel_backpage.pdf
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1083214/Arsenal-striker-Adebayor-ruled-weeks-Stoke-clash.html
Stoke are team of thugs, wrestler and basket ball players who foul their ways to victory and safety in the premiership.
Because of the little Englander mentality, teams are allowed to kick and maim other with impunity.
Because of the injury, nobody mentionned that we had two legitimate penalties appeal turn down (unless the rules have changed and shoving and kicking is now allowed against Arsenal).
Song was booked for winning cleanly the ball and will miss two games.
In the mean time a thug that has wrecked the career of at least two fellow professionals will be banned for three games and will represent his country against Egypt.
UEFA recommends that there is multiple balls in place around the stadium to speed things up. Under the recommendation of smaller team the premiership banned that and forced team to have a simple ball around the pitch to avoid team play too quickly and catch their opponent by surprise.
FIFA banned goalkeepers from drying the ball with a towell in the hope that more goal will be scored. The premiership allowed Rory Delap to take 30 seconds for each throw to dry the ball.
Can you reconcile if it is not a definite ploy to help the little guy contrary to the letter and spirit of the game.

The tackle may not be malicious but it was reckless. If the player does not have the skill to execute such a tackle, he should not even try. Even F1 drivers need to reach a certain skill level before being allowed on the track, otherwise they will a danger to other drivers. Stoke's manager is also to blame, psyching his players to a level of aggression not commensurate to their skill level.

"Wenger says its a fractured leg so I think its not as bad as Eduardo’s but still he looked like the best player in that game and for this to happen to him is not just sad but almost makes me hate english football."

There can be the difference between a fractured and broken leg, as I understand it a fracture is more of a crack than a full break (I'm no doctor though, so might be very wrong), whatever it is, fracture is generally less serious than a break (again, I'm no doctor). However, I'm pretty sure Wenger just used the word fracture to indicate that there was bone damage (i.e. a break). I suspect you hadn't seen replays or photos of the injury when you made that comment. Having seen video replays and still photos, unfortunately, it is clear the injury appears just as severe and horrific as the one that Eduardo suffered. Ramsey's foot/leg was hanging from where it had broken.

This was eerily reminiscent of Eduardo's injury and hopefully something will be done and tougher punishment brought in. Arsenal used to be condemned for there bad disciplinary record under Wenger, he has since turned things around and we consistently have one of the best records in the league, currently we are second behind Fulham and impressively we are the only team not to have received a red card in the league this season. What is our reward for playing football as opposed to hacking opponents? Three broken legs in four years! We play the nicest football in the league and do it without having to resort to injuring other teams players. The tiresome, old chant of "same old Arsenal, always cheating" is clearly and obviously very much out of date and applies more aptly to pretty much every other team in the league.

In order for this league to survive at the very top it needs to offer greater protection to the better, skilful players who are, after all, playing the game not fouling (would you rather see potentially career ending fouls week in, week out or the skills of players like Fabregas and others). If the most skilful players keep getting hacked out of the game then they will not stay in the league, and who would blame them. The league should remain physical but not by cheating and fouling. The culprits of these fouls should receive heavy punishment. Another possible idea would be that a team who feels hard done by and feels there team has experienced attempts to kick and foul them out of a game can lodge a complaint. If it is felt, after a post-match analysis of the game, that a team, or a player in that team, has received unfair treatment at the hands of the other team then heavy fines and even point deductions could be imposed. Equally, if there was found to be no problem then there should have to be costs for wrongful accusations. There would obviously have to be an acceptable amount of fouling allowed, it would be impossible to completely eradicate it, penalties only apply if it is deemed unacceptable. This rule would obviously need tweaks and changes, I have only just considered it myself, but something of this kind would be beneficial to the league in protecting it's top players and reduce the amount of, what is ultimately, cheating so can't be that bad a thing. As long as there are measures to prevent it being abused (i.e. fines for wrongful accusation) then I can't see it being a bad thing. There are other sports that one can watch for brutality, football shouldn't be one of them.

well we all have seen the plan of many teams in this league kick arsenal and win the match which is really sickening in the 21st century, and three match ban for a insistent when and player is going to be out for about a year or more is rediculous, but all this will go back to the press cos they praise poeple like stock Tony pulis about there style of football and archievement and then critise arseanl and wenger of his lack of archievement in the last five years, and i have not seen skysport interviewing any body about the tackle but we all remember what happen with the tackle by gallas on davis of bolton when where calling everybody

This shit kind of fucked up my b-day. Cant enjoy anything, keep thinking about Ramsey. I do think that this injury could bring the team even closer togheter, it looked that way last night and am truly very proud about the attidude and passion they showed. I truly belive we will win the PL and that Aaron will return as brilliant as ever. His future in the club is still very very bright. Lets stick togheter now.

It was a nasty injury but I'm sure he'll be back and pickin up where he left off for us. it would be fitting for us to win the Premiership and give him his medal in front of the fans and his team mates like Robbie Pires had. C'mon you Guns
