Future Looks Bright As Angha Debuts In MK Dons Rout

Published on March 14th, 2010

Martin Angha made his long awaited debut for Arsenal’s Under 18′s as the Gunners dispatched the MK Dons 4-0 at London Colney. A brace from Benik Afobe saw his goal drought come to an end while Chuks Aneke continued his superb form. Late sub Josh Rees completed the rout.

With a selection of Steve Bould’s first choices away with the Reserves in Dubai, a selection of the newly signed scholars were handed an opportunity to impress. Zak Ansah, Jamie Edge and Samir Bihmoutine formed the spine of the team with Angha starting at right back – an indication as to where his long term future could lay.

McDermott
Angha – Obed – Boateng – Bihmoutine
Edge – Yennaris – Ozyakup
Aneke – Ansah – Afobe

Subs:- Dunn, Wynter, Rees, Neita.

Benik Afobe took just 25 minutes to get off the mark but once he had one, there was no stopping him. Just 3 minutes later he had a second, Arsenal had a second and the game was all but over. Second half strikes from Aneke and Rees’ first of the season at this level wrapped up a convincing win.

Great news. JS do you know when Afobe is likely to start playing in the reserves on a more regular basis? Cause he seems to be doing great for the Under-18s but still isnt really getting a look in at reserve level

Beckham is out of the world cup that means Walcott should be going now

    • Posted by Sam on March 14th, 2010, 18:39

Wright Phllips is having a bad year and Lennon is injured I think Walcott will be included in the WC now. Which I think he deserves after his superb comeback after his injury

Adam Johnson might get a look in as well, but Walcott should be going. he should have been even if Beckham wasn`t injured.

Adam Johnson I dont think so because even Mancini side stepped when press asked him and I think Walcott is much better than him. He really didn’t do anything but that was a superb goal from the lad.
Anyone know is Lenon will be out for the season?

J.Sanderson, I just wanted to know what are your thoughts about Henri Lansbury this season? Do you think he will make it at Arsenal?

    Thanks.

      yes he will

Theo would have gone to the WC no matter what. He’s the only guy that can play RW and as a striker out of the lot of them and Capello knows his pace will terrify teams out there.

This is great. The young guns are kicking butt and taking names. I love it.

The only way Walcott would’ve been omitted is if he was really in bad form because I don’t think anyone is as fast as him off the ball, I think Lennon is a faster dribbler but when it comes to sheer pace, no one can match Theo. Don’t rule Adam Johnson out just yet as he certainly had an impact on Sunday and of course Lennon is injured anyway. Only concern is I don’t think he’s been capped at senior level yet. Anyway, I think Capello would be more concerned over the left back slot.

Yes Sam, Merida’s back, great, he seems to be somewhere there nearby the 1st 18 in Wengers view, but not quite there when everyone’s in fit, he’s still got so long way to go before fitting in starting XI, but i would like to see him getting few chances to show his capability, allthough it’s tough as löng as we’re in there for slight possibility to win the league, and i sure hope we will!!!

    • Posted by Sam on March 15th, 2010, 16:33

If we play him then he can cost us the title
If we dont play him then he might not want to stay and may go to spain for regular first team football.
      What will Wenger do?

does anyone on the arsenal youth and reserve teams have the pace that walcott does

    • Posted by Sam on March 16th, 2010, 14:29

none in our team can match walcott in his pace
It will be hard for anyone in world football to match his pace.

Great stuff JS. Always enjoy reading your articles.

Just writing to say thanks for sorting out the font issues with regards to Google Reader which now seem to be resolved. Had proved to be very frustrating over the past year or so.
