Djourou Come Back Delayed As Reserves Head To Portsmouth

Published on April 19th, 2010

Arsenal wrap up their Reserves League South campaign with a trip to Hampshire to face Portsmouth this evening. After a season of ups and downs, Neil Banfield knows a win will see his charges finish on a high with a notable second place finish.

Aston Villa are once more the Champions after dispatching Arsenal and then edging out Fulham 2-1 last week. However, an exciting climax to the year sees the Cottagers going head-to-head with the Gunners for second. Points must be grabbed by tonight or there is a real chance Fulham could sneak the runner up spot.

Reserve skipper Craig Eastmond was with the first-team yesterday so Spanish centre half Ignasi Miquel will captain the side. Conor Henderson was on the bench, he’s expected to start along with Dutch midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup. First-team defender Johan Djourou was expected to feature but a knock on his healing knee has ruled him out.

Predicted Starting XI

Shea
Coquelin – Cruise – Miquel – Evina
Ozyakup – Frimpong – Henderson
Deacon – Murphy – Freeman

Kick Off is at 7pm from Havant & Waterlooville’s West Leigh Park Stadium. Young Guns will have updates via our Twitter while a Match Report will follow on the Full Time whistle.

Yeah it is, I managed to fix it today (I’m from Bosnia).

Open Mozilla, go to Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Network then Settings. Check the manual proxy configuration and enter the following ip 92.52.125.20 (Port 80) and click o.k. It should work that way.

When you’ve watched the video, go back to the same options and click “No proxy” so you are able to see other websites.

Can anyone please upload the video on youtube. I am already connected through a proxy server so, the above idea wont work for me

    • Posted by J.Sanderson on April 19th, 2010, 16:14

I’ll see if I can find another way around it. Obviously uploading it to YouTube isn’t a realistic option as it breaks various copyright laws.

Wenger has to give szcensy a go at 19. I really think hes the real deal hes very mature like how fabregas waas for arsenal at 16.

I dont want Hugo llori, sebastien frey they arent in my opinion good at commanding the box if shay given isnt the greatest. Talking to city fans sounds like they want Joe hart more than shay given. City fans say given doesnt come off his line alot

I also think szcensy can be the best goalkeeper in England and europe hes got the reflexes of casillas and hes got the command of the box like Oliver kahn

Yeah, Szczesny is grat. The best goalkeeper there is today, and I don’t mean the young ones only. He’s got it all. I’m afraid he’ll get aware of his ability sooner than he’ll get a chance in the first eleven that he deserves.

I noticed Shay Given’s reluctance to come off his line years ago and never wanted him at Arsenal. He’s poor on big aerial balls. He’s only a good shot-stopper, but then again, so’s Fabianski.

Going on this season’s form, Lloris and VDS are the best ‘keepers around.

Conor henderson on the bench thats quite intresting?

He looks a class player hopefully he can stay injury free cause i rate him highly plus hes british.

I also like Saed hajrovic alot i think hes better than Miquel. Miquel needs to toughen up he looks weak against strong attackers. WHERE THOMAS CRUISE?

This is such a young reserve team! (I know, similar to all year.)

I have been wondering, js, how will these youngsters react if significant reinforcements come in this summer, and, for instance, Eduardo drops into the reserves, or Fabianski if another keeper comes in, and the loanees come back, and these guys have to sit the bench in the reserves!? I guess Eduardo might even go on loan, and the loanees just go back on loan. Or not: will Wenger have to have a full first team in the reserves just to accommodate everyone? Is there an U-21 academy!! Maybe I am over-thinking this. But there seem a lot of over 18 too young to play first team players plus the deadwood in the first team that still have contracts.

Realistically Eduardo and co won’t be playing in the Reserves. It’s strictly a youth team. The Carling Cup is now our version of the Reserve team for first team players.

The good thing is that this current Reserve lineup is so young, another season in the second string won’t effect their develoment.

can you not just go on google and search for a british proxy

    • Posted by Norwegian gooner on April 19th, 2010, 16:22

I’ve already tried that with several different proxys, but it doesn’t work.

Just heard guys that Johan Djourou was expected to play tonight. He has damaged his knee again training, will sit out.

Ah thats gay. What about kieran gibbs?

  12. Posted by john on April 19th, 2010, 16:48 [Reply]

The starting line up is on the pompey wesbite:

    Shea

    boateng hajrovic miquel evina

    yennaris ozzie henderson

    freeman afobe barazite

  13. Posted by Gooner14 on April 19th, 2010, 17:23 [Reply]

J, i was kind of suprised too see Henderson on the bench, not because i don’t rate him as a player, but i thought that the likes of Barazite and Coquelin would be ahead of him in the pecking order for the bench.

Does this reflect how highly Henderson is rated by Wenger, or how Barazite and the like have fallen from grace?

    • Posted by Tony on April 20th, 2010, 16:22

      Surely a bit of both?

  14. Posted by a morrow on April 19th, 2010, 17:35 [Reply]

are sure its not because van persie, eduardo and vela wher on the bench that henderson was on the bench instead

Djourou need to learn a lot from players like Sol when he gets back from his injury. That’s why I think the idea of having Sol for another season is really super.
