I think that in terms of numbers, we don’t need any midfield reinforcements which is why I see either JET or Lansbury to step up and claim a back up spot in midfield, especially since Ramsey’s injury. Rosicky has looked poor everywhere he’s played (although I think he’s been decent in the CL on the right flank) and Denilson is our only midfield cover since Ramsey’s injury. That leaves only one injury in midfield to occur then we’ll see either Eastmond, Lansbury or JET starting or on the bench, and I think it’s just up to Wenger who he sees as the best choice. Same goes with the defensive situation with Bartley and Nordtveit.

Lansbury and Thomas could make big steps, maybe even as Gibbs, seeing from the reports. Also the Ramsey injury could give them a chance to fight for a spot as a backup midfielder. I am very curious to see if Eastmond will go on loan next year

Apparently Chamakh has signed for Arsenal and wil be officialy unveiled before the World Cup. Also Loic Remy is one of Wengers top targets and he has stated he wants to sign for Arsenal not Lyon.

J., would it be possible to get an assessment based on your perspective of the current level and potential the loanees have? Especially the Championship ones makes me curious. Find the ones successful in the championship often takes the step up and the chamiponship is a strong indicator

if nordveit, bartley, ayling or hoyte want to get in the first team squad they only have to be as good a silvestre……….that cannot be too difficult, can it? For heaven’s sake if i was a pro and not considered as good as him i would be giving ronald mcdonald a bell to see if there was any 1 star jobs going

nordveit and bartley should be kept at arsenal next season…because if people were that hyped up about smallings and phil jones then we should give this two a chance..
call me crazy but i hope gallas and sylvetre leaves and we get a subotic/boateng kind of defender in. that will mean vermaelen,campbell,subotic/BOATENG,bartley and nordveit.
when the going gets tough we can always called on the ever present Alex SONG.

I think problem with Senderos, apart from problems with concentration, was his lateral quickness, and overall reflexes. From the few I have seen from Nordtveit, he is quite agile, his technique ability allows him to gain seconds to avoid the pressure from opponents, and overall seems to be fast enough to play CB or DM (although nowhere near a Micah Richards). His problem might be his general strength, but remember he is still 19 or 20, so he still has to really develop. Remember Ramsey last year and compare him to the form he showed this campaign: his summer training of strength could be really noticed.

Nordtveit is still learning. he’s what….19. Physicality will come, i think thats why he trains…to get better. at this age he will surely have some limits. but the question is how he fill the gaps and how quick. and believe me Wenger is quite patient with that ( remember senderos). this guy has the right mindset and only needs some more time and Wenger is here for that.

Remember that Nordtveit wasn’t even a regular for his native club back in Norway (second leve, like the Championship) when he was bought. He was just described as being very mature for his age + being a playing CB. Now he just have to grow up, so I think he will need a couple of seasons getting there. I bet he will go on loan for big parts of next season.

Why are you all so fucking dyslexic? It’s spelled NORDTVEIT. Fair enough if you get it SLIGHTLY wrong (although that’s barely acceptable if you’re an Arsenal fan), but spelling it so embarrassingly such as NORDVTEIT makes you look like a cunt.

I’ve always been a fan of Nordtveit, but he does not have the physical presence to play in the EPL – right now. But he does have very good technical abilities, which Wenger and others at Arsenal saw when they got him. Physicality can be gained, but mindset is a bit more difficult. I certainly believe his thinking is exactly right – go to a top Championship side. Live in the weight room and beef up. He’ll probably never look like Bartley, but that isn’t required to be a top CB or DM. Give him time and hopefully he’ll come good, he’s earned that. Keep in mind he’s the exact same age as Gavin Hoyte and he’s far, far more accomplished than him.
