Hello from a Norwegian Gooner in Austria... Thx for a great site JS.

I have been on both traningssession today, and this is my input to this site.
The morningsession was most running and AW drill some defensive stuff, and some freekicks. Nasri and Song shots best, and none leftfooted player score from freekics.. (VanP was not there) In the evning AW played a game with 20 players. In the Green team :
Alm1 - Sagna, Clichy, Djou20, Håvard - Song, Nasri, AA23 - Vela, Cha29
They played against the Yellow for 6 short halfs, total of 30 min. In the Yellow team :
Vito - Eboue, Gibbs, Kos6, Verm5 - Frimpong, Rosicky, Walcott - JET, Wilshere.
(Maybe this two sides will play each half on tuesday)
The Yellow team won 2-0 after goals from JET and a lovley chip from Wilshere. Both goals came in the first 10 min. What I saw : The Green team struggle to create chances. Only Nasri impresses me in front of goal (in the Green team) AA23 tried to pass Eboue 5-6 times without luck, and he looked no good at the moment. Nobody runs more than Eboue today. JET and Jack impresses me inside the box. Vito and Alm1 made some good saves, and I think AW will play them on tuesday. I think all of the 4 CD played well. Kos6 was very good and gave Cha29 no chances. Verm5 and Kos6 could be our CD-pair this year. Just before the end Djou20 fouled Wilshere, and he stays down.... But he walked out and looks OK.
Today Eastmond runs on his own, and Diaby (calf), Traore (hamstring), Henderson and Landsbury did not show up at all. Fabi and Szczesny was there, but did not play the game.
Thats all from Bad Walterdorf !!

Thanks, Andrew.

Wellington is in London? I haven't seen that reported anywhere, this site included.

Yes, I'm sure Jay Simpson will be sold, if a buyer comes in before his contract runs out, otherwise I assume he'll just eventually, like Gilbert, be released on a free? What I still don't understand is why he turned down the offer from the excellent Omonia. I am trying hard not to think ill of English players, not to see them as lacking in courage and professional commitment, but it's increasingly difficult when they seem so reluctant to leave their home comforts, hoping (apparantly in Jay Simpson's case) that a lower-league English club will want them rather than grabbing the chance to live in another country and play CL football for an ambitious small club. Did the offer from Omonia not exist? Did I simply imagine that I'd read about it here on this site? Have asked about it and why it fell through more than once, but J hasn't replied, so I guess it's time to give up.

Been to the Southend Cup this afternoon, we beat Twente Enschede 3-1 and now play West Ham or Southen tomorrow in the final. Samir Bhimoutine was the pick of the bunch with 2 goals Zac Ansah go the other. Interesting to see Sean McDermott in goal, i thought he was going to be starting at Welling?? Only 3 players i had not seen before, obviously Ebicillio, Hayden & Siafa?

The kids enjoyed it but did not want to stay for the 2nd match and quite frankly i cant blame them

its never a bad thing to have the best talent at your club
when they sign for a club like arsenal they know competition becomes part of there daily routine
and this guy isnt much older either so he will be in the same boat as the other youngsters

Gilbert hass been released
Jay Simpson is on the market and if a suitable buyer comes in then he will be sold aswell
I think Wellington is training with the youngsters in london
No idea about the goal keeping coach J can tell you about that. Schwarzer rumours might be causing these rumours

Where is Kerrea Gilbert? Do we still own him?

What's the situation now with Jay Simpson? I'm sure I read on this site that he had an offer from Omonia. If so, what happened, why did he turn it down?

I also believe I read on this site that Wellington Silva was going to be in Austria - 'Wellington jets in for pre-season training'? Did I dream this headline? Or did someone (Wenger? Flum., Silva?) change their mind?

Is it true our goal-keeping coach is leaving? One site is reporting that he is, for family reasons, but they could, I suppose, just be making it up?

So many questions...

I like botelho we dont have many players who can go past players with pace and trickery.

I still we lack dribblers in the first team.

Against tight defences you need players whoc an go past players and break defensive systems instead of passing it through

Well, if it's true we had plans to use him this season, will we now consider signing someone else?

However good he is potentially (aside from his habit of falling out with managers), it looks like it'll now be a couple of seasons before he's much use to us - i.e. this season, plus at least one more for him to learn to cope with the thugs of the Premiership. And that's assuming he can ever adapt from the slower, more civilised game in Brazil and Spain, which is all he's known up to now. Or that he'll want to adapt. Why would a technically skilful player ever choose to play English-style football? It's not a league where a player like Xavi or Messi could flourish.

On the subject of players who've fallen out with the managers while on loan, what's happened to Kerrea Gilbert. He looked so good three years ago.

Well, if it’s true we had plans to use him this season, will we now consider signing someone else?

However good he is potentially (aside from his habit of falling out with managers), it looks like it’ll now be a couple of seasons before he’s much use to us – i.e. this season, plus at least one more for him to learn to cope with the thugs of the Premiership. And that’s assuming he can ever adapt from the slower, more civilised game in Brazil and Spain, which is all he’s known up to now. Or that he’ll want to adapt. Why would a technically skilful player ever choose to play English-style football? It’s not a league where a player like Xavi or Messi could flourish.
