Arsenal 2-1 Sunderland; Gunners Back In Business

Arsenal’s Premier Academy League campaign really got going this morning as they edged out a talented Sunderland side 2-1 at London Colney. Goals from Elton Monteiro and Philip Roberts helped banish the memories of last weekends 5-2 hammering on opening day by Manchester City.

Steve Bould was without injured striker Zak Ansah and Martin Angha due to international duty, but he was able to call on second year scholars Daniel Boateng and George Brislen-Hall. The duo went straight into the back four while Ben Glasgow slotted in at right back.

More to follow.

Just wanted to say great site J, please keep up the great work!

Looks like the little whipper-snappers must have upped their pressing game after last weeks slop against city! Great news all round for the club this weekend! I just love seeing Big Sam on the verge of another cardiac episode!

oh that is something I am relishing imagine the likes of wilshere, vela, nortvedt, eastmond, JET, Gibbs and Lansbury destroying the spuds on their own ground

      ——————— Szczesny
      Nortvedit — Squillaci — Djourou —- Gibbs
      — Wilshere —- Eastmond ——- Lansbury —
      — JET ———– Bendtner ———– Vela ——–

big win for us against blackburn, great site as well J. I must say that i watched the under 18’s and i was happy with what i saw although i must say that the killer instinct is lacking. we squeeked out a win against a much much much less formidable opponent…. there is room for improvement but you know what? im swigging a beer in celebration. Its been a good day for arsenal today. What a cracker by walcott!!! hopefully RVP comes back ok.

Hey Spuds got beaten by WIGAN today. That’s right boys and girls, W.I.G.A.N. If we play our second team with Vela and Wilshere and Eastmond and some of the other young guns I trust them to give Spuds a real match!!:D We might even run them ragged, who knows. We play a lot more open than Wigan do, but still, if Spuds play their first team I still think we can beat them. Especially if they play with Palacios. He can’t pass the ball!! and he’s not quick enough to chase and retrieve it if he loses it. I think we can win no matter what!!:D

I think you are making Wigan seem worse then they are. Wigan have some good players but they try to play like us all the time which sometimes will get them beat pretty bad but they will beat some good teams swell. Remember last year, wigan beat Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham and us.

As for the game tho, it would be awesome to beat their first team with our youngsters but it probally will be there back ups as well because they are in the champs league too.

Its amazing the spuds so excited thinking about the draw they get a lesson from wigan wait till they return home tired from away games in europe etc and their minds wander further.

we wont be seeing them back in the CL any time soon.

I dont think twitchy will field a first team against us this year in the kiddies cup could be bad for moral if we beat them :)
