Exclusive: Vermaelen Set To Face Man Utd

Thomas Vermaelen is expected to start tomorrows Premier Reserve League fixture against Manchester United, Young Guns can confirm. The Belgian has been missing since September, when he suffered Achilles tendon damage and needed surgery.

Vermaelen returned to training around a month ago, where was initially working on his own with fitness coach Tony Colbert. However, the 25-year-old has made rapid progress, and rejoined the first-team group a week and a half ago. Arsenal are planning a series of ‘behind closed doors’ friendlies, as the United clash is the final Reserve league game of the campaign.

Thomas is expected to make his first-team come back in the closing stages of the season, should he suffer no set backs.

Might want to clarify the headline a bit! Pretty sure there is another Man Utd game on the radar.

Great news…he’s been missing for far too long. Hopefully his recovery will be complete with a return to the first team!

No need to clarify headline. Pretty obvious he wouldn’t come straight in to the first, especially now that we’re really only playing for pride. Good to see him back, hopefully he can finish the season unscathed.

It’s great news regardless, although the headline is certainly misleading! Stoked for the player though.

Everybody knows I don’t write about the first-team, so why would you think it was misleading?

Regardless of what you write about, people will first think of the 1st teams game against man u and not the second strings game.

Lets hope Thomas makes a full recovery, he has been missed sorely at times

How on earth is it misleading? This website is specifically for youth and reserve members of the Arsenal team, so why would anyone think this article would be any different?

Well considering Vermaelan is a senior team player and he’s not young then it may be a little misleading, but good news alright.

How could anyone think the headline ‘ Vermalen starts against Man Utd ‘ is misleading ? He’s close to full fitness and our season is more or less over so iy would just be good experience against Rooney and Giggs ….o oh sorry its the reserves .

God have we missed the Verminator in the worst way this season. Seems like we always have that injury that leaves a big hole in the line-up every year, whether it’s Vermaelen this year, Cesc at key points last year, Robin for at least half of any given season…

We not only missed his defensive contribution but also his attacking ability and his passing.

Now we just need the commanding Tony Adams Beckenbauer hybrid as his partner and someone who can teach us how to defend set pieces.

I saw this and in no-way thought it was about the first team United fixture. It’s a site for young arsenal players for crying out loud.

benzema would be great for us, maybe in place of andrie. i personally think nic B has a role to play with the club still, a great squad player. then all he needs is scott parker. if arsenal are leading, playing parker and song together would help out our defense no ends. verma and djouro will be a great centre back pairing i think. sorry to spout first team stuff on your blog jamie boy. keep up the good work

The match is live on MUTV,for those of us unlucky enough to not follow a successful team, does anyone know of any live streaming?

Did you hear Sergio Ramos is interested in joining Arsenal? Apparantly he was devastated after dropping the cup whilst on an open top bus and wants to make sure it never happens again!

    Funny but not!
