Arsenal Make Decisions On Reserves Duo

Arsenal have made decisions on the futures of on out-of-contract Reserve team duo Jernade Meade and George Brislen-Hall. Meade has been offered a new deal, while Brislen-Hall has been released.

Liam Brady had been mulling over the two 17-year-olds for a number of weeks, before finally make his choice recently. Brislen-Hall has been a regular for most of the season, but a series of injuries and mixed performances saw him replaced by Meade, who can also play in midfield, before injuries allowed George back in the team.

The Under 18’s are rebuilding for next season after a terrible campaign, and the expectation is that Scottish youngster James Campbell will be the first choice left back next term, with the exciting Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill acting as a deputy.

It’s not yet clear whether Jernade has signed an extension to his scholarship, or professional terms, however, the deal is only a year long. Meade will now hope to maintain his fitness over the summer, and impress in the Reserves next season. Brislen-Hall has already begun the hunt for a new club.

Brislen Hall sucked at the Dallas Cup. He had a hunger for the ball, but he sucked so bad when he got it.

I heard Meade is only 5ft3 tall.He looks really short anyway. He looks like a special player and if he was 5ft7 or more he would probably make the first team. It is unfortunate that we did not give him a growth hormone the way Barca gave to Messi.

Good Luck to both guys. Hope Meade shows us all how good he is, and Brislen-Hall finds a new club and also makes a career of it.

Speaking of the U18’s rebuilding for next season… is Josh Rees still eligible next season? His listed DoB is 4 October ’93, but a report from Echo news from March 2002 says he would he would be signed when he turns 9 next month (April 2002).

I have actually been impressed with george brisen hall.

The last reserves game he was pretty good against Man utd.

Think he will be a decent player not for arsenal though.

    Jernande meade maybe too small.

    How good is james camobell?

I thought Samir Bihmoutine was an option on left back next season. He reminds me a bit of Gibbs.

Sad for the boy who was cut and wish him all the best. In some ways it is a relief to see us cut anybody. Our juniors seem like a bus where people only get on and nobody gets off, at worst you get loaned to another club. I suspect this cut may be the first of several in the months to come.

Thomas started season with reserves, and get injured, after recovered he had spell on loan at Carlisle, then back to reserves and had a little injury again, recovered and had few games with reserves and has been injured few months again. On loan he didn’t play so much, was mostly on the bench, so his season has not been so good at all.

Gbh would have been great just for his initials! Seriously though people ask why he has not been offered an extension. Well the u18s have Campbell smith monteiro bhimoutine and next year ottewill they can all play there. Then they could also play for the reserves there along with cruise botelho traore and meade. All these whilst clichy gibbs and even vermaelen fight it out for the first team lb role. That is 12 players that can play left back then there is eboue and jenkinson and by all accounts even if clichy leaves we are likely to buy a replacement.

I have to say Im glad to see Jernade got the recognition, like someone said if he was taller he would be getting hyped alot more, really do rate him and think he is being wasted playing at LB, think they should try to play him as an AM then we would see his real talent, which is picking a pass and good close control quality player and one i really would like to see succeed at Arsenal.

I really liked Brislen Hall from the bits that I can catch on ATVO. I’m disappointed he’s been released, but if there’s one position that we get right in the reserves, it’s the LB slot :) Wish GBH all the best for the future.
