Miyaichi Set For Pre-Season At Arsenal

Ryo Miyaichi is expected back in London this summer for pre-season training with Arsenal, Feyenoord have confirmed. However, the Rotterdam outfit are still hopeful of re-signing him on loan for next season.

Miyaichi joined Feyenoord on loan in January, and has enjoyed a hugely successful time there, scoring three goals in 11 matches and collecting a number of assists. The two clubs have held initial talks over an extension to the loan, but Arsenal have now deferred a decision until the summer.

It’s expected that Ryo will miss out on a work permit this year, despite a possible inclusion in Japan’s squad for the forthcoming Copa America. That means he’s unlikely to play during pre-season, and will almost certainly move on loan against next season.

Feyenoord’s technical director Martin van Geel told AP today that he hopes Arsenal pick the Eredivisie club, with whom they have an unofficial partnership.

”Arsenal will make a decision over Ryo in pre-season. We have to respect that. He will probably not be playing at Arsenal next season due to English rules and regulations. However, it could be that he will be at another European club.

“Of course we hope we can keep him at Feyenoord. He is already settled over here.”‘

There are suggestions in Holland that any deal for Ryo would come down to how much Arsenal will receive in a loan fee, but FIFA agent Carrie Baird, who follows the Dutch transfer market closely, told Young Guns she expects Arsenal and Feyenoord will find an agreement shortly.

“He’s 18, at one the best training environments in the world and he’s learning. If Arsenal reject their loan extension, it goes against everything Arsenal has claimed, with regards to a collaboration with Feyenoord, and that they are not influenced by money.”

“The money is on him staying at Feyenoord.”

Arsenal will ultimately decide that in the summer.

I think what Jamie is trying to mean is that he will play for us when we go on tour to Asia but wont play in the Emirates cup and head back on loan to Feyernoord. So we will see him play in an Arsenal shirt next year but only for a short time

He cant play for Arsenal in England or official pre season tournaments where he would have to be registered but he could actually play in our tour of Asia.

If only there was no Japan earthquake then we could have taken him to Japan, and started to build a big brand with him there. China still not bad.

BTW I do hope he stays at Feyernoord next season, I like the fact that he’s seen as he’s as one of Feyernoord most dangerous and double marked sometimes marked by 3 and if he can learn to play around that pessure and be dangerous then he will be simply put awesome plus he will get plenty of game time and will also built up his physique

If I’m not mistaken, a work permit allows you to work/play in England. The pre-season friendly will be one with coverage and advertisements/tickets money. Will Miyaichi be able to play? I don’t think so. A behind closed door friendly might be possible though.

Not sure i see the point of including him in any pre-season games. Training is fine, so that the coaches can see what level he is at, but when it comes to matches we should only be playing guys who will actually be with us during the season.

Pre-season should be about getting everyone on the same wavelength before the real games start. It should also be used for the younger players to stage a claim for a first team place. Seeing as Ryo wont be with us, it seems a pointless exercise to include him.

Js do you think Laurent blanc has a point about black players being more physically developed than other groups?

It seems France are producing alot of fast, powerful players of African origin. It seems arsenal are doing the same which is why we aren’t seein many technically gifted players.

I am not being funny but I think very soon the England and other Europeans team won’t have a single White, Asian, European player playing in the first 11

They tend to be wingbacks, midfield hatchet men and forwards, so no. Of course you also get the odd headless chicken CB like Toure on top of that. Only Seedorf has ever been of African descent and had to vision and craft to be compared with does special players who can control a game like Cesc, Zidane, Bergkamp and the like.

I think he should qualify for a special talent. Unless FIFA has a hidden agenda, it is impossible for them to not put forward the case on a special talent Visa. You go to Feyenoord, or in fact any Dutch club, and ask about Miyaichi. A far, far bigger reputation than Denilson ever had. And he’s Japanese, earthquakes aside they’re not considered dodgy immigrants like some other nationalities (I know that that’s wrong but it’s the way things are).
I just can’t see why, from a border control point of view, he would be denied. I hear he did excellently in his studies, as a person he’s sound and hard working so if he was in the UK after failing at football, he’d be productive enough to our society. And clearly, he is certainly a special talent.

However, I think he should stay on loan at Feyenoord for his own personal development. I just feel that him being denied a work permit stinks of something nasty.

Benik afobe isnt good enough for arsenal.

Steve clarke mentioned about his “Pace and power” and how he was a “man” at 18 years old.

Guys like afobe, aneke must have destroyed youth teams just because of thier physiques.

I think Laurent blanc has a point. laurent blanc isnt a racist hes making a very good point. I used to play for Broadwater farm and i would say there were only 10% who were non black there.

Black people are more physically developed than others look at American football, Basketball dominated by black people.

In England we are obessed with pace and power and in France that is happening now. You look at the french youth teams they are full of africans, arabs

Afobe has been outstanding , winning man of the match awards on the last four occasions destroying defences in League one ( against physically mature men ).Not bad at 18 and having to change his style to get into the team in the process.Great technique too.

The point is we are not seeing technically gifted players because youth teams across the UK are full of players with pace and power.

its much easier to win with 11 strong and fast kids than with 11 technically good footballers AT YOUTH LEVEL.

Which then reduces confidence in players and thus we dont produce those techniclly good players.

Poor france, for having such technically defecient black and arab players like Henry & Zidane.

That’s the problem with England, ya’see? We create too many players like Zidane & Henry, when we should be developing more technical, white players like Milner and Barry.

And don’t even get me started on those filthy Latinos too (who by origin, the majority have an african background). Can’t learn a technical skill to save their life. Must be their mixed “darky” blood, eh John?

You like that don’tchya? Let’s go get ourselves a swastika tattoo and March down Dagenham waving our Union Jack. Stupid immigants, they come’re, take our jobs, our women, etc.

It’s true that in the UK the physical side seems to be considered more important than in other countries, where more work seems to be done on the technical and tactical sides with young players, but this has nothing to do with race. It is just the way things are done in this country. Players who are physically better, like lampard and gerrard, will be promoted more quickly than the technically gifted ones like, say, gavin mccann.

  • May 6, 2011 at 4:56 pm

Henry, zidane are technicaly gifted players.

But there arent many more coming through like them because NOWDAYS ITS ALL ABOUT PACE, POWER, STRENGTH AND we all know black people usually have tha advantage at a younger age. (Not all of them but majority)

Laurent blanc obviously fears for the national side which is why the quota system could be handy.

It help give confidence to guys who arent as big or as strong as others.

I said the England, France teams and maybe some perhaps Belgium will be fielding 11 non white/asian players in the future possibly

@john, I’m sorry man what you are saying is very racist. You are implying that all black people are fast, strong, and lack technical ability. These kind of generalizations only hurt the cause and I think you should refrain from speaking.

And I’m from America, and I see no problem with the dominance of African Americans in our sports. If the players are more talented, let them play, regardless of the skin color.

It sounds like your own insecurities about your lack of ability to compete on a higher level (having strength, power, pace) causes you to think the way you do. Pathetic.

John’s comments remind me of when i used to play Sunday league football many, many years ago and wouldn’t be able to get into the team as CM (my position) was occupied by two big strapping black boys (who were decent players, not to mention). Did i ‘girl up’ and develop an ‘envious dislike’ (cos that’s what it is Johnny boy) for blacks because of this or did i get my head down and show the manager in training that as physical as these boys were, i was a better bet than them as i had certain qualities they didn’t? You better bet it was the latter! I ended up usurping one of them (who at the age of 13/14 was about 6″2) and forcing the manager to move him into central defence to make way for Haringey Borough’s new secret weapon and playmaker extraordinaire – ME!!! Ha ha!

This happens ALL over the World John. The cream rises to the top! Only Tony Pulis, Stuart Pearce and Graham Taylor will pick physique over true footballing class! Even that troll Allardyce knows a good footballer when he sees one!

I am not saying Black people are “idiots”

Its like me saying “Asian” people are very inteligent

Just look at the 100m sprints. You wont find a white guy.

Basketball, Amercain football dominated by black americans.

The point is at youth level teams are full of players who are tall, fast, strong players its hard for the technical players to come through.

At a young age kids dont have the confidence or mentality.

very soon the premier league will have teams who have outfield players all of 6ft 4 and i can see it being dominated by Black players.

Like you get in basket ball, american football.

I think rugby, football will follow suit

    1. You forget being short can be advantage- improves ball control and since your centre of gravity is lower it is harder fell short players.

    2. For sprinting you clearly haven’t heard of Christophe Lemaitre, which only goes to show how ignorant your sweeping generalisations are.

You find it hard to accept your own racism, and that might be a good thing as it certainly is a negative trait. So, if I were you, I’d sit and think of how much you just got dicked on in this debate and try in the future to have your posts consist of less ignorance.

It is a scientific fact that the fastest sprinters in the World have their ancestry from western Africa. It is also a scientific fact that the fastest distance runners will have their ancestry from Eastern Africa and it is also a scientific fact that the fastest swimmers will have european ancestry. Football is both physical and artistic, while the modern game requires an almost universal loadout of strength power and endurance their is still room in the game for outright talent. RVP & Fabregas are not athletes first their footballers. Ronnaldo is perhaps the best of both but still no where near Messi the standout player of his generation and while quick does not have the physique of the modern player.

Ryo deffo needs to join the preseason camp, to familiarize with the Arsenal Way!!

Feye plays typical dutch 433. Wingers are isolated wide and encouraged to dribble right at defenders.

Though this is a good environment to develop flankers (one of the reasons why Holland always produced sick WGs), learning how to link up with SBs, help midfield, and position swap with CF is needed to play in ARS.
