Feyenoord Admit Doubts Over Miyaichi Loan

Feyenoord have revealed their doubts over re-signing Ryo Miyaichi on loan, after Arsenal cleared the way for the Japanese winger to return to De Kuip next season.

Miyaichi will report for pre-season training with Arsenal next month, but Arsène Wenger’s initial plan to apply for a work permit appears doomed, after he was dropped from the Japan Under 22 side. A flood of offers have since arrived for Ryo, but Head Scout, Steve Rowley, has told the club a return to Feyenoord would be best.

Technical Director, Martin van Geel, confirmed an offer had gone in at the end of last season, and despite previously admitting his keenness to secure the 18-year-old’s services, van Geel now has doubts over the transfer.

“With Sekou Cissé and Jerson Cabral, we have two players who play in the same position as Ryo” he explained to Voetbal International. “We can’t turn a blind eye to this. We will have to analyse the situation and decide whether it makes sense to loan Ryo again”.

“Ryo is definitely worth it. The kid played amazingly well for us, but we need to look out for our own players”.

Feyenoord’s General Director, Eric Gudde, also confirmed the news Young Guns published last season, that Arsenal are now asking for a loan fee for Ryo. This initially put them off, but now Gudde says he is happy to pay it and make an investment in the player.

Whether Van Geel truly believes his statement or he is trying to force Arsenal into waving any fee, it remains to be seen, but Miyaichi’s short-term future still has a few twists and turns to come.

We could do with Ryo next season… Wenger needs to get busy and send a brown envelope or two. Make it happen. ;)

Because Japan u-22’s coach is an Idiot. Any coach in the world want this kid, why he look over on him?

The previous answer, while harsh, is the sadtruth. I am japanese so I know all the players who are in. Ryo was dropped simply because the coach is an incompetent. he even escluded Usami (our best young FW) a while back only because of his total inability to handle the locker room. He’s an incompetent also on a tactical level and we just lost 2-1 against Kuwait which is a real shame and and embarassing moment.

We should waive the fee. As we saw with West Brom and Vela, the team that’s willing to pay the most isn’t necessarily the best option. Miyaichi’s development is the most important thing.

But by paying a fee the clubs take a risk, and show their commitment to using the player. The reason Vela didn’t get as many games as he would have at West Brom is because Hodgson came in and played Odemwingie as a lone front man, so Vela played poorly out of position, and couldn’t get into the first team.

The kid needs to be playing first team football to make the strides in development he did last season. Competition for places is always a good thing but having three players in his natural position won’t give him the consistent playing time he should be getting. Prefer he went to an Eredivise club than La Liga though!

Well he does pretty much have to go to an Erevedise team on loan if it’s to help him with his WP issues, I believe.

Quite logical the Feyenoord decision- they want to develop their own wingers. Ryo is just a temporary solution for them. A loan to a PL side would be best for him. If not, guess other Dutch clubs are interested. (Would be preferable for him to stay in Holland; he’s settled there + understands the league!

explain to me the logic of him being loaned to a PL side if the main issue is his inability to get a work permit to play in Britain?

      Hahaha

No this cant happen otherwise we would not need a work permit for him to play for Arsenal.

I was referring to the fact that he’s already spent 6 months as a resident of the Netherlands, so needs less time (18 months?) to gain a permit.

That’s a shame but understandable from a Feyenoord point of view. I can’t understand why he’s not playing for the Japan u22 side. Any player that can play regularly at Eredivise level and do well should be in the full national side for them, it’s not like they have a player pool like England, Germany, Italy etc.. I hope that this doesn’t hold back his progress much.

Watch this and see does he deserves to get any matches for first team. This is not Miyaichi. And miyaichi is fantastic, he wont join feyenood but other teams sure like him.in the next season he will be our left winger. And the future will be Alban Bunjaku remember this name.

He was not dropped from the Japan team he did not make it becouse there are others that have “put in the time”. Older, been there, waiting for these championships. I believe he is also the only player that could have been on the team not playing in Asia. The coach even said “There will be many years for Ryo to shine”.

      That’s not true.

He was called up to the U22 squad to face Australia and was then dropped. Then the JFA said his time will come.

Reminds me a bit of our other Brazilian teenage superstar frie eating fatty. Just playing he WILL be awsome. Seems national coaches at the younger levels want the players playing at home, working as a team. Once they make it on the big stage they will make their national team regardless. My guess Ryo will skip everything and be a full Japanese international by December, the WP will be issued.

That’s fair enough from them. Can’t really complain.

Maybe Ajax would be interested in having a go. :)

It doesn’t make that much sense for me to be honest. I think it would be more that he is making comments just to keep the team moral up if they fail in winning the race for Ryo. It would be different if Ryo had just an average loan spell but he was a star for them plus brought in money for them through the marketing to Japanese people.

Except for Cisse being injured every week since his transfer to Feyenoord (and he’s been here for 2 years) and Cabral not ready for first team action. So Feyenoord need Miyaichi.

Also, Feyenoord have a satellite club in the Eredivisie in Excelsior, where they can stall players of their youth squad. Cabral can go there for development.

Cabral isn’t at Miyaichi’s level at the moment, but Feyenoord are going with youth these days, so it would be best for them to take a chance with Cabral. As for Cisse, he just came back after being injuerd for a year, is already 26, and his main position is striker.

The Blaze: Cabral should stay at Feyenoord. If they sell or loan out Cisse, they don’t have too many options.

Wijnaldum will be in the #10 position with Biseswar on the right and Cabral on the left.

Fernandez will be a direct replacement for Castaignos.

Isoufi isn’t ready to compete with Wijnaldum for the #10 position, where Cabral also can play.

Schaken won’t get in the first 11.

Still, Feyenoord should get Miyaichi on loan again, they don’t have too many options in the attack at all.

Arsenal should quickly make space for him in the squad next season or else Real Madrid or Barcelona will be wanting him in their squad..which team wouldn’t.Next season, the title will surely be ours!

i agree with most of you we need him to be loaned to a club were he plays as i honestly think he is the next big thing he is so confident on the ball at this young age and i probally better than nasri at getting past defenders we need to get him a permit quick and put him on the bench till the right time like whilshere and maybe start him at a young age i could handle it and another player who played like ryo when he was in his late teens was ronaldo fergie started him at 19 and he grew to be agurably the worlds best or secound best player !
Wenger please dont end up selling him we will definantly regret it, hes a amazing player if any one hasnt seen him deal with the dutch league go on youtube and watch he makes defenders fall over :)

I suggested weeks ago that Wenger should buy Wijnaldum from Feyenoord for about €5 million. That guy can play at either left or right wing or at the number 10 position. He smashed all hopes of PSV for the title when Feyenoord crushed PSV back to 3-1. And now PSV wants to buy Wijnaldum for €5 million? Please Wenger, take Wijnalum into another loan of Myachi to Feyenoord. Please, please, please, all Feyenoord supporters will thank you very much for that. Van Geel also liked to sell him abroad preferably.
