Wenger Keen On Lansbury & Miyaichi Stay

Arsène Wenger has confirmed he intends to hang onto Henri Lansbury and Ryo Miyaichi, as speculation about their futures intensifies.

Lansbury has consistently been linked with a return to loan club Norwich City during the summer, while some have also suggested he may be used as a a potential make-weight in the club’s search for a Premier League centre back. Henri is yet to feature for the first-team since returning from the Under 21 European Championships, but that’s down to a fitness issue.

Wenger moved during his pre-Emirates Cup press conference to set out his stance on Lansbury.

“Henri has the talent to play for Arsenal football club, and he has a chance to play for us this season.”

Lansbury may well get a chance to impress during the Emirates Cup, as registration problems relating to his work permit situation are expected to rule Ryo Miyaichi out. However, Wenger did confirm his desire to keep the Japanese winger at the club for the forthcoming season.

An indication of which youngsters will be involved should come tonight, when Neil Banfield selects a Reserve XI to take on Borehamwood.

Not just Henderson but Diaby’s injury has come just right for Henri. Hopefully he will get and take his chance so that we can dispose of Diaby in january should he ever be fit for more than two weeks on the trot.

Thank god for that. I’m convinced lansbury will be important for the club in the future, possibly next season, if he get’s the chance.
On the other hand, I really don’t see the point in keeping miyaichi here when he has the chance to go and play a full season in holland. I think he’ll get battered if he plays at all in the PL this season.

I think the idea of miyachi staying rather than going back to holland is so that he can adjust to the English way of life, not to be thrown in as 1st choice or anything,he’ll probably hang around till January before getting a loan till about April/may and coming back to play a couple of games end of season in our now traditional pointless last 5 matches. The least Lansbury deserves is replacing that sack of sh!t denilson in the squad and now diabys out injured..again..who’s shocked at that?!Well wenger has no excuses in getting rid of him, hope he proves what a good player he is tomorrow.

Apropos of Diaby, I’d just like to remind people that he suffered a shocking ankle break in May 2006 and he’s only been able to play sporadically since then. You may also recall that Bolton’s Paul Robinson also had a go at wrecking his career so it’s not surprising that he over-reacted a bit at Newcastle. I don’t know whether or not this is the same ankle that’s been operated on, but I do think people could think a bit more about what he’s been through before writing him off.

The thing about Lansbury is he has to play in the middle to be fully effective, and its pretty crowded especially since he admits himself that he’s not a defensive midfielder. I’d have him over Rosicky at the moment though due to the energy and passion he gives.
If Arshavin is correct in saying we’re working on a pressing game high up the pitch, then Lansbury is perfect as an option for rotation.
Wilshere and Song are gonna play most games barring ACON for Song, and Ramsey will get a lot of chances so a lot depends on Fabregas/Nasri (and Mata hopefully)
Henri’s gonna have to make the most of the limited chances he gets, although if he gets stuck out wide he’s not gonna be able to stand out enough to justify a squad place

Lansbury can play on the right or left of 2-3-3easily, he makes great runs and very tidy on the ball, he doesn’t have to be a world beater to get some games, he can be a danger as an outlet and crosser.

Vela doesn’t do the business, he should be loaned out, another gap for Henri to rack up some games.

Why do we insist on players having to force there way into the first team, squad players w

Living up to your name Shyster,no need to be so aggressive. I have never seen the so called benefits that Diaby is meant to bring to the table. When he isn’t injured , he slows down play – misplaces passes , lets opponents run past him without tracking their runs and generally breaks up any rhythm that we may be playing with. Other than that he’s fine.

I ain’t obsessed with the loan thing,it’s just the way it is,he’s played pre season games in Asia,he’s Asian,it makes sense to play him there and Market us to them.Is he ahead of nasri,Walcott, gervinho, arshavin, vela or rosicky? Not sure he’s ahead of any of them in my opinion, plus what about if the rumours of mata are true?So if you use your head Sam rather than spouting off with your usual ‘i’m right and you’re wrong’ then maybe him disappearing on loan at some point will more than likely happen,do you not think?

are you joking ? Do you really think wenger bring him just because he is asian ? tbh the truth is that ryo can bring something different in the first team and the preseason matches confirmed that. He brought a lot of pace to the game and burn the fullback so many times, instead of having arshavin slowing the game … He was always dangerous and improved his passing-crossing. His pace his confidence and his good technique with some tricks, there isn’t a lot of players who have that qualities. But he lacks physical this is something he can improve by playing CC matches for example to discover the physical game of EPL.

In contrary, I don’t understand why so many people think Lansbury deserves more a chance than ryo. I saw few matches of Norwich and I was not excited by him. Ok he is a decent player but he was not incredible. I recognize that he has some qualities. He has good passing abilities , good physique, hard-working but he made some mistakes and his technique is average, not impressive. Some people use the fact that he is a true gooner. It’s stupid argument ?! If a player isn’t good enough, he isn’t good enough that’s all.

I don’t say he doesn’t deserve a chance to play with first-team (No doubt he can bring something to the team) but listening people who doesn’t understand why ryo is the favourite of wenger make me crazy … It’s so evident, he has much more talents and more potentials.

And please stop critize Wenger. You can reproach him of not bringing enough experienced players. But he has nothing to prove concerning the youngster policies. AFC is one of the only big clubs with Barcelona that produce and bring very good young players. See Ashley Cole, Wilshere, ramsey, frimpong, fabregas …

Ryo is a great prospect n talent but definatly not ready for the epl not loan obsessed but i think a loan move to a championship side will do him a world of good

Also what about Kyle Bartley Arsene? I’d love to see him given a chance, he’s absolutely good enough. If not a loan to one of the newly promoted prem teams would be ideal. Spurs’ Caulker has joined Swansea on loan and while he’s an excellent young defender in his own right, Bartley is definitely better than him at the moment.

If you read between the lines wenger is contradicting himself..

If he really wanted henri he would have included him in emirates cup.. he’s fit by now.. in fact he’s fitter than others that hes taken.. (all other clubs have used their u21s that were in the Euros)..

    Wenger said:

“Henri Lansbury is in a situation where I believe he will make a career,” said the manager. “At the moment it is a bit congested for him but I believe he has the talent to play for Arsenal Football Club.

“I have to give him a chance at some stage and as quickly as possible. I believe in him. But if I honestly believe he will not play this season or has no chance to compete for a position I will tell him and let him (WELL TELL HIM THEN AND DONT BE A BOTTLER)..

Good luck henri hate to see you go but you will find a club that appreciate 110% and a winning mentality..

The thing is, we give a young player a run in the first team, and if they have a mare now and again every one will be on their backs like they are with Diaby & Rosicky – both effectively new players needing a run to re-establish themselves after such bad injuries. Young players that slot in like Wilshere, Fabregas, Rooney, Whiteside etc are few and far between. I remember Adams in the early days, and he was a donkey and needed time to develop – we just don’t have that time and space these days – no longer is mid table acceptable, so taking a chance on most youth is just not sadly worth the risk. I want to see Lansbury succeed as much as anyone, but he has to succeed on the training and football pitch not jsut because he loves Arsenal. I love Arsenal, but I’d be a pants winger.

I happen to think that Diaby could have had a decent career had Smith not mashed his ankle up. However that being the case he is a walking liability.

None of the other posters brought up RVP or Gilberto as comparison cases only you. I can only think that you want to lend some support to your argument by mentioning good players alongside Diaby. He isn’t in the same class as either (might have been).

You are either the worst kind of know nothing fan that you accuse others of being or you are just being offensive to Wind people up. Maybe that is to be expected during the school holidays.

Shyster may have overstep the mark with his posts, however I agree with the meat of it. Anybody who does not see what Abou Diaby brings to midfield is just an arm fan without a clue.
Both at Arsenal and for the French team when fit he is one of the first name on the team sheet.
Not all managers (Arsene Wenger, Domenech, Laurent Blanc) are blind and just in love with him. Abou Diaby has qualities that managers are looking for. He is one of few player with physical presence, who after intercepting the ball can quickly project itself forward by dribbling opponents. We have centre midfield that are either defensive midfield player (Song, Frimpong) or attacking midfield player (Wilshere, Ramsey, Fabregas, NAsri, Rosicky). Diaby is the only one who can alternate between both jobs within the same game.
He quite often play as the link between the defense and the attack.

Since last year with Ryo, Wellington and this year Gervinho, Arsene Wenger has been buying dribbling winger/attacker rather than pass master. However if you have a dribbler on one side, you need to have a willing runner on the other side.
We use to have Pires dribbling his way on the left and Lunjberg running from the right.
Lansbury can play that role (see his goal against Spurs in the Carling Cup) or he can play Ray Parlour role to steady the ship and bring more energy and grit.
Denilson was the only player who regularly tried his luck from outside the box. Lansbury seems to have shooting boots.

I can see where you are coming from and a fully fit Diaby that had full use of his ankle would be a great sight to see. However since his break he has been in and out of the team with injuries, he only manages about 4-5 games and then gets injured again, and even when he does play he only seems to be able to perform 20% of the time. Add to that his psychological (understandable) issues with people tackling him and he doesn’t contribute much to the overall squad.

Going back to the comment that started this all off. If Lansbury gets his chance he could easily jump above Diaby in the pecking order. I’ve seen Lansbury play several times now and every time his movement and stamina have impressed me. Add some gametime and I think he could make it big with us.

in my opinion diaby is also in arsene’s hit list.
he only survived because of injury, he cannot be sold.
i am not saying he’s a bad player but its good for him to try to revive his career somewhere else.

Wenger seems full of praise but doesn’t seem certain about Lansbury’s future in the end. What Hobart says about Diaby is true it’s the injuries side of the game which let’s him down, his place should be given to someone who contributes more but he’s sticking around for at least another season, the injury comes at a unfortunate time.

As for Ryo a commenter above seemed upset about the idea of sending Ryo on loan, I don’t see that as a problem as he is still young, raw and the game in England is tough and physical. I can see him going on loan at some point which would help him in his development.

On Diaby I still maintain that he is potentially a brilliant player. His potential is massive and obvious. Absolutely outstanding physically and he has a lot of technical ability. A very good dribbler and his passing is good if a little inconsistent.

He needs to stay fit and to play regular games to iron out the major flaws in his game at the minute- his decision making, concentration etc. He’s got far more potential than say a Denilson, who I don’t think will ever be any more than a decent player.

What’s the point of sniping at Diaby – he went on the field and got injured in fighting for YOUR cause. And since then he has suffered anle injuries and the combeback niggles that can be expected from this.

I mean why dont YOU get on the field vs Sunderland, let one of their thugs do your ankle in with a double fracture and then let’s see how you fare over the next five years with that ankle playing Sunday football, let alone to operate at Premier league levels of physical effort. Oh and then if that isnt enough, let’s ask you take another savage “tackle” from Paul Robinson on the SAME ankle that has a couple of titanium plates in it – and see if you even can walk properly at all.

When I read comments like what you just made, frankly I cant blame the likes of Nasri and Clichy for just going for the money. They could stay here put in effort and should they get hurt fighting for the cause, then can expect to be on the receiving end of retarded comments by fans saying they get inured “too easily”. “Fans” like you are the biggest reasons why players cannot be blamed for simply looking out for themselves – you dont deserve their effort, courage or sacrifice.

Wenger speaks but says nothing-as always.

Something tells me that this is not over-still seems quite possible that he ships the kid out, only that now he has an excuse-which he will need indeed,as it looks like that Lansbury have already become some kind of a fan-favourite.

In this troubled times I think that we tend to read more into this case than it really is:selling a youth product, when the squad lacks all the passion,hard-work and grit that this home grown player might represent is definitely a warning sign-one more added to the long list.

Lansbury deserves a chance, but now our midfield needs more than he can add.Wilshere,Ramsey,Lansbury,Frimpong(Coquelin is also there but deff not in this season)are very bright talents, but we can’t really afford that many U21 players in the team, let alone one area.
We need experience, even if Fabregas stays, and Song needs a competitor

    it is a big mess
