First year scholar, Daniel Boateng, was one of three lucky Arsenal players who trained with the Brazil National Team last season, capping off a superb year for the imposing defender.

Daniel was born in London but has Ghanaian roots through his parents, and recently rebuffed the advances of the England Youth setup to pledge his allegiance to the country of his descent. He turned full time at the start of the 2008-2009 campaign despite being a schoolboy but wasn’t involved with the Under 18′s until Christmas time.

The summer before he’d shown his talent playing and winning both the Atalanta and Zinédine Zidane Tournaments. But after coming on a substituteagainst Norwich, Danny established himself as a key component of the squad – even earning the reward as captain against Birmingham City.

Boateng is a left footed, powerful, solid and versatile defender who can play at both centre half or in the middle of the park.
