I’m a Turk, and whether or not he chooses to play for the Turkish national team, I’ll be proud of him whenever I see him play… even if it’s in the orange shirt of Holland.

As a Turk from Finsbury Park, it’s nice to see him at the club!

BTW I hope Oguzhan chooses turkish NT. But too bad nobody has contacted him. I read an article where he said that turkish football federation hasnt contact him and he is very sad about that..

Oguzhan Ozyakup is currently playing for Holland. Whether he was born in Holland or Turkey is irrelevant. Terry Butcher (the most patriotic English captain), was born in Singapore and he is 100% English. Turkish people have strong ties to history, tradition and culture. Most patriotic countries (e.g. Turkey), associate blood line with country of origin. Oguzhan has Turkish parents so naturally should be Turkish. However, it is also the option for him as over time, ties with native countries can become increasingly diminished.

Whichever country he plays for shouldn’t be based upon success. Take examples such as George Best, Ryan Giggs, George Weah. It is the honour of the shirt. Unfortunately some people do choose even national teams based on success e.g. Zinedine Zidane (Algerian).

At the end of the day, is there a right or wrong….who knows. What we do know is current rules dictate that he can even play for the U21′s and still change

Özyakup got really very good potensial and i believe he will become a good player. In 2-3 years he can play for Arsenal starting 11.

funny? If you look at the teams allready qualified, The Netherlands is definatly a favorite… remember the first round last year at the European Cup?

I just watched Ozyakup play in the Under 17 match, he was AMAZING!

so don’t worry ahmet, he’s got enough potential to become a new Sneijder/ Bergkamp type of player, and will be in the starting line-up with the Dutch team.

and BTW, it’s not fair to say Ibi’s only a benchwarmer, he’s still young and hasn’t gone to any big clubs yet.

ur stupid ahmet, ibi is still young and it’s not surprising he is set reserve when he has to compete with v persie sneijder and vd vaart. he did play big games as a substitute though and i’m a big fan of ibi afellay, his time will come you idiot, playing for the netherlands means winning the 2010 world cup sucker turkey won’t even qualify
