Right back turned central midfielder Sam Byles is a quiet but efficient member of the Arsenal youth squad who’s spell with the club has been a trophy laden one.

After claiming the Sky Sports Victory Shield and the Montaigu Tournament with England as a schoolboy, he signed scholarship terms in the summer of 2008 and added the Atalanta Cup and Zinédine Zidane Tournament trophies to his collection. The Cheshunt-born starlet featured 16 times in his debut season for the Under 18′s and developed into useful asset in the centre of the park.

The transition into a midfielder killed Sam’s chance of kicking on at international level, but he’s still valued highly by the Arsenal coaching staff. He began the 2009-2010 season as a second year scholar looking to gain professional forms.
