Loanees – Barazite & Gilbert Snatch Late Wins

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.

In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.

Reports:

Nacer Barazite – Derby 1-1 Norwich City (62 Minutes)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester 3-2 Huddersfield (90 Minutes)

Previews:

Havard Nordtveit & Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca V Gimnastic
Armand Traore – Portsmouth V Stoke City

Nacer Barazite – Derby County 2-1 Norwich City

It’s been no coincidence that Derby County’s form has improved since Nacer Barazite joined on loan in the summer, and the flying Dutchman kept his place on the right wing as they took on Norwich City at Carrow Road.

It was the visitors who settled the quickest in the early stages, Barazite and Davies snapped shots which were well covered. However, the goal would finally arrive, as Davies’ cross was thumped home by Rob Hulse on 26 minutes.

Yet this seemed to fire up the Canaries who were nearly instantly back with Koroma’s snap shot. Half time arrived with County just holding on.

The break in proceedings made no difference in terms of momentum, it was all Norwich. A powerful shot from Leroy Lita nearly found the opening, before Derby threw the game away. Lita was put through on goal, he headed past Carrol who smashed into the diminutive striker, the former United stopper was sent off and Sammy Clingan converted the resulting spot kick.

Barazite then had his looping free-kick saved by Marshall, and the visitors fragile confidence would be tested. It would be the 18-year-olds final action of the fixture, he was replaced on 62 minutes.

On 85 minutes Derby would snatch the win, Nathan Ellington slotting home.

Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 3-2 Huddersfield Town

Kerrea Gilbert has been an ever present for promotion chasing Leicester this season, he retained his place as the Foxes took on a struggling and under achieving Huddersfield Town.

Several fouls dominated the early stages, until Nicky Adams broke the mould with a rare shot. Gilbert was booked on 27 minutes for a late challenge, the game was extremely sloppy.

Half time saw Leicester kick on, Matty Fryatt bagged the opener on 50 minutes. Moments later he converted a neat penalty to make it 2-0, but Huddersfield refused to lay down.

Gilbert lost his clean sheet as Gary Roberts smashed home a left footed drive 3 minutes after Fryatt’s penalty, it would prove to be a warning of things to come.

A shell shocked City would then lose the comfortable cushion of the two goals as Liam Dickinson rose highest to level the encounter. Yet, just as the board went up for injury time, an outstanding lob from Lloyd Dyer saw The Foxes snatch all three points.

Armand Traoré – Portsmouth V Stoke City

Armand Traore’s season with Portsmouth has been nothing short of exceptional, the Frenchman has been a regular all term, but he is in contention for a rest ahead of Pompey’s fixture against Stoke on Sunday.

Pedro Botelho & Havard Nordtveit – UD Salamanca V Gimnastic

Pedro Botelho will be hoping to regain a place in the UD Salamanca team this weekend as they take on an impressive Gimnastic side, with both outfits aiming for promotion this season.

Havard Nordtveit is away with the Norwegian national team, he will miss this and next weeks fixture. This means Botelho will be the only representative this week, although it’s likely he will be on the bench.

He did start the first couple of games, but he gave away a last minute penalty, even though the ball hit his chest not hand.

Ever since then he has been dropped.

I wonder if Gilbert will come back to be Sagna’s understudy. I hope so, always rated him highly.

Norveidt is not with the national team, he will travel later this week.
He will be in the starting line-up tomorrow against Gimnastic playing in the midfield.

When players go out on loan for the season, they won’t come back.

Thanks Javier, and yes, it was Byles.

Barazite had an ineffectual game against Norwich from what my ate told me (Norwich fan).

I hope Pedro gets some games soon, it can’t be doing his confidence any good knowing he’s being blamed for the mistake. Salamanca are top anyway..

Good work as ever J. (y)

Been reading on some Derby County websites. Many of the fans have taken a liking to him in the short time he’s been there, which says a lot about his talent and attitude!

Its hard, hes reasonably pacey, strong, tall but ive never seen him score with his head. very intelligent player, nearly gets asmany assists as goals. Hes got great awereness and great balance, very much a second striker link player, technically gifted, able to hold to ball up, run at players and open up a defence with a quick one two or a pin point pass. Personally i think hes best compared to Bergkamp and while hes not a carbon copy, he can very much play that role for us or elsewhere in the future.
