Watch Benik Afobe's Brace For England Against Ireland

Since bagging a fantastic double for England in the opening fixture of the SkySports Victory Shield last week, Benik Afobe‘s rapidly growing profile has hit over-load.

The 15-year-old returns to action for the Arsenal Under 16’s this weekend, yet the captain will now be a known man among the opposition, as the Gunners travel to Motspur Park to face Fulham. His two goals were really well taken as Afobe’s showed his calmness and intelligence with both efforts, lauding praise from the Sky commentary team.

For those who did not get a chance to watch Benik, nor team mates Chuks Aneke and Josh Rees, you can see extended highlights of the game below.

Love the website! The match was against Northern Ireland, not Ireland who are the Republic of Ireland! Glad we dont have the Northern Ireland goalkeeper on our books!

That was the best performance by an England U16’s team i have ever seen since i have been watching the Schoolboy Victory Sheild on Sky and there is a serious amount of talent in that team IMO

As talented as Benik surely is, his goals were all pretty soft. I think it’s way too premature to start calling him the next Wrighty or anyone else. This vid is as much as I’ve seen of him so I can’t dis him, but I’d love to see other games where his ability is better demonstrated.

I wouldn’t go to overborad with this result, NI are a very young side and they were poor. Sunderland c/b Louis Lang was remarkable, and the Chelsea lad McKeachen? was excellent.

The Northern Ireland side was not that much younger than ours after all we had several 14 year olds out there plus a 13 year old kid came on in the second half who plays for Chelsea called Nathaniel Chalobah

That clip doesn’t really give credit to how England played.
That may sound strange but if you watched the game you would have seen alot more of the passing and technique of the players which was most impressive.
Northern Ireland were not great but this team still did everything right.
The fifth goal was very good though.

Definitely, If you just saw the goals on that link you would just think that Northern Ireland couldn’t defend etc.
Obviously they didn’t defend well for some of those goals but they were under pressure continuously and England created alot of good moves that didn’t amount in goals when they should have.
Agree it was a complete performance and I’ll be watching the next game for sure.

Aneke and Afobe are both massive for their age hopefully, Aneke will be slightly more mobile than J Thomas hence making him even more useful if he makes the 1st team.
