Loanees – Botelho Redeems Himself, Traoré Starts

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.

In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.

Reports:

Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca 1-0 Córdoba (90 Minutes)
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 3-2 Blackburn (77 Minutes)
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 0-3 Burnley (Unused Substitute)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 3-2 Dagenham & Redbridge (Did Not Feature)

Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca 1-0 Córdoba

After a testing week for Pedro Botelho, he was handed the opportunity to redeem himself after being fined with a start against Córdoba.

Wearing the now infamous pink Nike boots, Botelho made a very bright start at left back. Several powerful runs down the flank drew fouls, but Salamanca failed to convert them. His positional play was fantastic, and with the pressure increasing at the top of the table, The Union kicked on.

Miku side footed a simple chance wide, but when Sanchez was sent off for Córdoba, it was advantage Salamanca. Botelho’s jinking run from left back took out several defenders, a stern save from the keeper’ denied a certain goal.

However, with just seconds left on the clock, Valencia loanee Miku converted to seal the points. UDS are now level with Xerez at the top of the pile.

Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 3-2 Blackburn

Armand Traoré started for Portsmouth as new boss Tony Adams looked for his first home win in charge of Pompey.

The home side began the better of the two, with Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe going close. Blackburn hit back and always looked dangerous with McCarthy and Santa Cruz, yet approaching the break it was level. Traoré then created the best chance of the half, as the Frenchman flew beyond his full back and crossed for Crouch to head wide.

However, after the restart, Crouch crashed home Johnson’s cross, and it was game on. Defoe then made it 2-0 with a composed finish. Yet the two goals revitalised Rovers, who got one back via Matt Derbyshire’s first touch. Tugay then levelled with a stunning long range effort, setting up a tight finish.

On 77 minutes Armand was taken off, and shortly after, Sean Davis was on hand to win Pompey the game with a rare goal.

Nacer Barazite – Derby County 0-3 Burnley

Nacer Barazite was surprising left on the bench for Derby County as they took on Arsenal’s Carling Cup opponents Burnley.

Barazite’s influence on Derby was telling, as they lacked any real passion, desire or creativity against a ruthless Burnley. Strikes from Macdonald, and two from Martin Paterson sealed the victory. Nacer was unused.

Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 3-2 Dagenham & Redbridge

Kerrea Gilbert was again left out of the Leicester City team as they edged past Dagenham & Redbridge 3-2 in the second round of the FA Cup. Gilbert faces court in January after being arressted for  drink driving in November.

For sure. If they go up, more of our Reserves will go there. Maybe players like Bischoff or Mannone could go there for extra experience.

@ Ola – We’re playing Plymouth at Home.

As for loanees, looks good for Pedro, but how come Gilbert’s not playing anymore? Why do we send our players out to clubs who dont play them.

gilbert hs no chance at making it at arsenal so to be honest who cares if he plays or not we should have sold him in the summer anyway

im a bit disappointed with barazite’s performances at derby id expected more from him in terms of goals when you look at his form from last season

plymouth at the emirates mate, it seems gilbert is fast running out of chances, one team where he doesnt fall out with the coaches and he decides to get loaded and go for a spin…. it looked like it could be so good after those carling cup games as well.

J: What happens with promotion from the second division in Spain? Is it just the normal 3 up or playoffs like over here? I wonder if they do go up we might send more than the usual 2 players – Wilshere, our January Brazilian, Coquelin, Mannone etc. with a chance to play Real and Barca instead of 6 games a season and the occasional seat on the bench?

Gilberts not playing anymore because he’s shit. We are still loaning him out waiting for a buyer but as no-one is ever taking the bait, it just seems he’s running down his contract away from Colney where he could be a bad influence.

J, any predictions for the starting line-up for tomorrow? After his performance against Chelsea, I think Djourou should get a run in the first team as a first choice cb. He has all the attributes, just needs to get some decent playing time at the top. And can we really afford another injury to one of our centre-backs? I thought Song also had a decent game in midfield, so not sure if he should play. Guessing it will be Vela and Bendtner up front…

When you doing a Carling Cup preview J?
Will the team be something like
    _____________Fabi
    Hoyte____Rodgers__Sly___Gibbs
    Wilshire___Randall___Ramsey__Merida
    ________Simpson___Vela

Or could Colequein/Lansbury start at RB?
