Arsenal To Sign Wellington After 4 Goals V Norwich

Arsenal will push through a deal to sign Fluminense striker Wellington in the New Year, Young Guns understands.

The 15-year-old starlet recently completed a 7 day trial with the Gunners, and after playing 45 minutes against Norwich Under 16’s last week, he left a massive impression on the coaching staff.

Steve Gatting’s boys ran out 8-4 winners over their City counterparts, with the on trial Brazilian netting four. Fellow countryman Luis Gustavo Conte was also being assessed, he played the first half  at centre back.

Wellington’s finishing prowess was highlighted yesterday on Young Guns with this video, and it seems he continued that form during his stay in England. It will now be up to Steve Rowley and South American scout Sandro Orlandelli to broker the deal for the prospect.

Fluminense’s chairman has already spoken of his desire to keep the Brazil Under 16 international, yet the players parents are keen to secure a contract with the Gunners.

The deal is expected to go through towards the end of next month. It would prove to be a significant coup for Arsenal, who already boast South American youngsters in the form of Denílson and Pedro Botelho.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish every single reader a very Merry Christmas, and offer our best wishes for 2009.

Omg. Wellington looks impressive in that video. It’s no surprise that he destroyed Norwich under 16s with kinda skill and technique. A must do deal!

I saw him playing for Brazil U17 against USA U17 he was very impressive! Scored 2 goals in 2 games. Very quick and tricky player but he is very tiny!

i don’t want to get too carried away but being able to come to a foreign country and play with players you can’t even speak to and score four goals is quite an achievement. If the deal goes through im defenitley going to keep an eye on him.

long as they get him to sign for Arsenal it’s great. We might have to wait (I hope not) for him to play but he’s amazing.

this could be the player i feel arsene has been trying to get for a long time,
ive only seen the one youtube goal but that combined with his goals record leads u to think he could be a a potential pato or young (brazilian) ronaldo – ie a potential super player
i think thats why they were after that diogo guy
hope this deal goes thru, i can see some pitfalls tho

I doubt it because Fonte and Barazite wont make it here, and Jay Simpson will be sold on to another football club sooner or later so that only leaves Murphy and Afobe is better than he was when was his age.

He scored four goals in just a single half? That is pretty impressive even thought it is only in the under-16 level, especially considering that this is probably his first match together with a bunch of strangers who he most probably unable to communicate to. I’d say we should take the risk and sign him up, quickly. I don’t care if he affects the chances of other players of making it here, I am only interested in having the very best players. After all, the very best players will be able to stave off challenges from other competitors right? For the record I do hope more English youngsters will be able to make it here, but if we could get an even better player why should we play an inferior player?

Kent Paul would you care to expand on your belief that Barazite won’t make it with us? He’s an utterly superb player.

I too don’t believe a player that is strugling to get in a poor divison 2 team has any chance of making it at the Arsenal.

J: I appreciate the news on these exciting prospects, but I think your loyal readers would very much appreciate an explanation of how signing u18 Brazilians would work.

He sounds great. 4 goals, 45 minutes with some strangers speaking a different language, thats a natural goalscorer. He would not effect the future of Afobe but I’m pretty certain Fonte isn’t going to be signed and Murphy will have to impress at his inevitable Championship loan deal next season.

How old is Barazite? And is his future as a RW or a S? Or in a Barcelona-esque wing striker? Looking at many of our players – Vela, Walcott, RVP, Barazite, Simpson if he proves himself at WBA – this formation looks closer and closer to implimenting itself at Arsenal. Adebayor loves drifting left as well, for better or for worse.

Anyway, excited for the future, as per usual, it’s the next month (and todays game) is more pressing.

    Happy holidays Gooners.

we need to sign world class players and not youngters as our league position is suffering because of our youth policy

From what i have seen of Nacer Barazite he just does not impress me same goes for Fran Merida and Mark Randall, and to be perfectly honest i think most of our young players are overrated, apart from Jack Wilshere and mabey Henri Lansbury.

wellington is a brilliant player, very quick and skillful. size may be a problem, but he is only 15. one for the future.

Okay, but our priority is to sign top-class and experienced players. But I hope Nordtveit will get a chance in the first team. He is at least as good as Gallas.

athlan & zoel, are r u nuts? putting an inexperienced, relative small compare to established CB and unproven at the highest level is plain daft. Looking okay in the reserves is not the same thing as the weekly 1st team football.

like i stated previously, Nordtveit is clearly a bottler who doesnt want to work hard for what he gets after spitting his dummy @ Salamanca, exactly how Gallas described many of how young players and he is right

Barazite will make it at Arsenal. He is clearly their best player. Derby does not want to overuse him. Their lack of goal is due to a lack of goal-scorer not service, with all the good delivery that Barazite does.
Mark Randall is not yet ready to play at Arsenal level. I have also doubt about his temperament. In every game, he does at least one naughty tackle. He also seems to lose focus and be down when things do not go his way.
Merida is technically and in term of vision one of the best, but as Arsene Wenger said, he needs to fill up. He is lacking physical presence and is therefore too light for the premiership. With one season on loan playing week in week out, he will be better prepared physically.
Wilshere is more stock with also a lower centre of gravity. That is why he is more difficult to push away from the ball.
Bischoff is unlikely to have his option taken.
Norveit was recalled by Arsenal, because he was not playing and when played it was in midfield. There has never been any mention of him having a bad attitude.
