Clubs Queue Up As Wenger Sanctions Loan Spells

After Arsenal’s disappointing exit from the Carling Cup last week at the hands of Burnley, manager Arsène Wenger is busy making arrangements to secure temporary loan deals for several of his promising young charges.

Wenger has already confirmed four of the squad that reached the quarter-finals will be made available for a 3 month placement, those include defenders Gavin Hoyte and Kieran Gibbs, midfielder Mark Randall and striker Jay Simpson. The latter trio all experienced the trials and tribulations of life further down the English League structure last season, but will be hoping for bigger challenges in the forthcoming transfer window.

Wigan Athletic – dumped out on rout to the quarters – are reportedly interested in Jay Simpson and Kieran Gibbs, whilst Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder will throw his hat into the ring for Kieran’s services after a mixed loan last season. Gavin Hoyte and Mark Randall should find themselves with Championship clubs, but wherever they end up, the most important thing is they gain valuable minutes.

Simpson proves that logic. He may have spent the season in League One, but he was a regular in a struggling team and came back a much better player than say Mark Randall, who only made a handful of appearances in the Championship. Carlos Vela has been tentatively talked about as a potential loanee, yet this seems extremely unlikely.

Whatever happens in the January market, you can keep up to date with the latest speculation and done deals surrounding the young Gunners right here on Young Guns.

I agree.. Minutes are the most important thing for any of these lads, as Jay proved last season but he needs to prove he can cut it in the prem now and kierans got the quality to do so as well! I can see Randall & Hoyte going to the championship but if they do it’ll be vitally important for their development to become a regular so apart from the top three i think this will be within their grasp at most other clubs. Just gonna leave us abit light in the reserves tho eh, Time for Benik, Coquelin, JET and co to step up!

vela will only go if a ‘big’ club goes for him and can guarantee first team football i.e. he’d be perfect at everton.

J, sorry for going off topic.
Do you think Giovinco will come to Arsenal? Juventus seem to want Gallas. Why not a swap deal for Giovinco? He is a top talent isn’t he? Is it possible or is it just fantasy? And also tell me how good he is. Sorry!

i think with eduardo already on his way to first team football, vela now just 5th choice striker. he may go on loan but i’m sure wenger will only let him go to premier league team because he just too good for lower league.

premier league experience would be great, but as you say its better they get minuets in a lower league club than sit on the bench.
if they can get a similar amount of games to traoe then it would be ideal!!

Second place then (or 3rd lol)…. i doubt vela will be allowed to go on loan seeing our striker shortages and the lessons from last season, when we where looking strong pre- jan and soon after the Jan window closed, the curse of injuries blighted us.
I am hoping Jay Simpson gets a Prem League loan….
He reminds me of the person who attracted me to the Gooners in the 1st place (Ian Wright) but a younger and IMO might even be a better version! come on you reds!!!

How good is Giovinco. Is Arsene interested in him? What are his qualities?

It would be great for Simpson to be loaned to Wigan. With all the talk about Hesky leaving in January he could well become a regular. He’d fit in well at Wigan.

I also don’t see Vela going on loan. It doesn’t add up. Hope he starts against Porto tomorrow, looks like he will with Ade and RvP being left out of the squad. Hope Gibbs gets a game tomorrow as well.

Simpson has not, could not and did not return from loan as a better a player than Randall.1. differnt positions and cannot compare,2 Randall is on a different planet ability-wise.BUT if only Randall cared the way Simpson so obviously does.
I hope the drunk in Milton Keynes story is not true re Randall.

I dont know the story about Randall being drunk in Milton Keynes, but I can confirm I have seen him out in a few bars in Milton Keynes before – however to be fair, whenever I have seen him he certainly hasnt been drunk

My personal view is that; for the English lads in the reserve team, Arsene expects the following to push to the next level.

    1. Jack Wilshere
    2. Kieran Gibbs
    3. Mark Randall
    4. Jay Simpson
    5. Gavin Hoyte

My reason being Arsene’s focus on these players in the Carling Cup. He’s sending the same selected players in the CC team to go to Portugal.

I’m really happy for Simpson in particular since he was written- off by almost everybody for his lack of so-called flair. Jay has come clean relying on what he’s good at; directness, pace and power. These are attributes we lack in the team at the moment and if Jay can keep on developing then he seriously has a chance especially if he continues to improve his finishing.

A loan move to premiership club or at worst a top championship team will give him a big boost. Jay’s energy and commitment on the field is second to none.

Giovinco is player simlar in style to messi or del piero. He can play on both the wings or behind a forward as a playmaker. Also he can operate as an attacking midfielder. He has good passing skills, good dribbling and ball control, is pretty quick, has a good free kick.
I wish we can sign him.
But he is very similar to our Jack wilshere from what glimpses I have seen from both. Also as in case of Jack and Arsenal, he is a Juventus lad and a childhood supporter. Also, their fans think of him as the successor to Del piero. SO it will be very difficult for any club to get him.

Wenger wont let both Jay Simpson and Vela both go on loan. Because Van Persie can get injured at any time, and Eduardo is just getting back which may take until feb or march to get full fitness. Which means we only got Ade, Bendtner and RVP.

If I had to name a team for some of these players to go out id say:

Vela – to Everton, or Blackburn (DONT WANT HIM TO GO, HE 2 GUD)
Hoyte – To Sunderland/Fulham/Reading or Wolves
    Randal – Birmingham
Simpson – would be perfect for WEST BROM or WIGAN
Gibbs – Any top championship club or lower prem team. (We may need him with traore at pompey and Clichy out for the next 2 games).

I reckon a loan for Gibbs to league one or possibly championship would be the best, he’s got all the talent going forward, but need to learn the mucky ins-and-outs of defending if he is to be considered Clichy’s back-up.. Any loan spell which would give Randall a well needed kick up the hole would be a good one.. I’d like Simpson to be given a few top-level games, I reckon he knows what he has to do to succeed, but just needs the right time to show it..
