Derby Desperate For Barazte Stay – Nordtveit Returns

Derby County are set to make a frantic last ditch attempt to keep Dutch winger Nacer Barazite on loan until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old starlet is due to return to Arsenal on January 1st, meaning yesterdays 90 minute run out against Ipswich Town could be his last appearance for the Rams.

Barazite has been superb throughout his loan, despite picking up a couple of niggling injuries along the way. His handful of assists has transformed Derby’s fortunues, from a team which had not won a game in 36 attempts, to an outfit with real ambition to reach the play offs.

Nacer’s lack of games recently has coincided with County’s erratic form, but a match winning cross for Rob Hulse to score on Boxing Day proved the Holland Under 19 Internationals credentials.

However, despite being an immediate fans favourite, and without doubt being one of the stars of the Championship this campaign, Paul Jewell looks set to lose the battle to keep the starlet, although he confirmed his desire to retain Naz’s services earlier in the week.

With injuries to Theo Walcott and Tomáš Rosický, coupled with poor form shown by Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Eboué in recent weeks, Arsène Wenger could keep Barazite and promote him to the first team.

In other news, Håvard Nordtveit will be available once more come January 1st, putting him in contention to start Arsenal’s FA Cup clash with Plymouth.

Poor form shown by Nasri? He has been one of our best players lately.

Jewell quitting is not confirmed, its just speculation. And Nasri has been injured alot, 5 injuries in 5 months, even Wenger himself highlighted it.

His form hasn’t been amazing recently, thats where the comment came from.

“His form hasn’t been amazing recently”

It may not have been amazing, but it’s been solid. Barazite is hardly a threat to Nasri, more likely a threat to Eboue.

P.S. the “i” in Barazite is missing in the heading.

Nasri has been been virtually invisible on the wings in the last few games. He looked slighty better when he came into the middle yesterday but never posed a threat and coludnt beat an opponent.

Quite apalling really for someone meant to be an improvement on Hleb. Yes, he has a good shot and has scored a few important goals, but its all about “the here and now” and right now… he ain’t doing it! Gimme Vela!

Barazite should stay on loan, he isnt what we need for the first team right now. AS wenger said, it’s time for someone with experience.

Nasri has been too peripheral in recent games, maybe it is a result of his stop-start season. But I thought he had his best game yesterday, when he played centrally off adebayor in the second half.

I agree that at the moment Nasri looks better than he really is. There is a lot of nice turns on the half way line to get away from a tackle but goals and assists wise he has been quiet of late.

Do you think Barazite is going to end up a winger? I always saw him as a second striker. Although he has creative abilities, he doesn’t have great pace does he?

Hmmmm.. the inexperienced but promising Barazite or… Eboue**… That’s a no-brainer Mr Wenger, give the young lad a chance!!

Nordtveit is a bottler and he is not ready for 1st team football, He needs at least another 2 loans moves where he wouldnt spit his dummy out but instead work hard to get game time.

I hope Barazite stays on @ derby as well to continue his physical development.

Also i hope to see nacer and vela upfront in fa cup matches. I think that could be a deadly combo with vela making the runs and barazite supplying the balls to him. He really is an exciting player to watch.

it’s pretty much confirmed now http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/7802617.stm
It will be interesting to see what happens to him. Perhaps he plays with us in January and then gets loaned out by the end of the month. By the end of January, Eduardo will be fully fit and Walcott’s return won’t be too far away.
Regarding Nasri. He was good yesterday. Injuries have haltered him a lot and he hasn’t had a very consistent run of games. He has been disappointing often because you can so obviously see his talent but I’m sure he will be the star of the second round if he doesn’t get injured again.

eboue and nasri are showing great strengths to me, and both seem to have a good attitude…especially seeing how eboue settled into every position wenger re-positioned him…all I can see with nasri is his injuries which can wear his body and form out.

I think Nordtveit is as good as Gavin Hoyte, Gibbs – even if he is younger…
