Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.
In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.
Reports:
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 1-2 Bolton – (Unused)
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 1-0 Watford – (34 Minutes)
Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca 0-0 Real Sociedad – (Sent Off)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 4-0 Peterbrough United – (90 Minutes))
Abu Ogogo – Barnet 2-2 Darlington – (Unused)
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 1-0 Watford
Nacer Barazite was left on the bench for Derby’s relegation dogfight with Watford at Pride Park.
Whenever Barazite has been involved, Derby’s results have been encouraging – so his absence was an ominous sign to say the least. Watford have failed to win an away game in 18 matches and struggled in the opening stages.
Nathan Ellington had several good chances, but as the half time break approached, nothing significant had arrived.
11 minutes after half time the Dutch flyer was hauled off the bench to rescue the points. His influence was instant. The 18-year-old provided a deadly cross which brought a strong penalty claim on Ellington, yet the goal was illusive.
With the clock ticking down, Nacer took his chance. A powerful run down the right tore apart Watford – the resulting cross was crashed into the net by Rob Hulse to steal the points.
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 1-2 Bolton
Armand Traoré’s run in the Pompey team has been cut short since Tony Adams took charge, and the Frenchman was again left on the substitutes bench for the visit of Bolton.
Within 3 minutes the game was almost a lost cause. Matthew Taylor and Ricardo Gardener both scored to leave Adams’ side shell shocked.
But eventually they found their rhythm. Peter Crouch halved the deficit and would then lead an hour long assault on the Bolton goal in search of the equaliser.
It failed to arrive, nor did Armand on the pitch.
Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca 0-0 Real Sociedad
Pedro Botelho kept his run in the UD Salamanca team going as the Union travelled to San Sebastian to take on Fran Merida’s former loan club Real Sociedad.
The table toppers had a poor start, but came close when Botelho nearly flicked home a Seville corner. The Brazilian drew a red card from an opponent last week, but little did he realise he would be the one having an early bath this time around.
Pedro collected a booking for swearing at the referee following a disagreement over a free-kick – a sign that things were hotting up. Several nasty tackles later, it boiled over.
Botelho clashed with Sociedad’s Xabi Preto – striking him on the face. It was Pedro’s final action, and the referee sent the 19-year-old packing.
The half time break made no difference to the swing of the game. Luciano and Catala both could have walked for poor challenges, but in truth neither side looked likely to bag the opener.
It finished 0-0 meaning Salamanca extend their advantage at the top of the table.
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 4-0 Peterbrough United
Kerrea Gilbert continued his impressive run the Leicester City team as the League One leaders took on a tenacious Peterbrough outfit.
The Foxes had a near perfect start when Craig Morgan put through his own net on 6 minutes, before Matty Fryatt extended the advantage shortly before the break.
The encounter was a classic third tier game, and Gilbert showed he was willing to get stuck in with several crunching challenges. In all fairness the visitors were pushing hard – Maclean threatened to steal Kerrea’s clean sheet – but excellent defending ended the challenge.
However, with minutes left City sealed the points. Andy King and Steve Howard smashed home late strikes to secure the win.
Abu Ogogo – Barnet 2-2 Darlington
Abu Ogogo returned from suspension for Barnet’s trip to Darlington this afternoon, but had to make do with a place among the substitutes.
Two Liam Hatch strikes were sandwiched between John O’ Flynn’s equaliser for the Bees, in a scrappy affair.
On 76 minutes Barnet’s replacement for the suspended Ogogo – Ishmael Yakubu – nodded home a corner to level once more and rescue a vital point.

Awful news for Botelho. Hate to hear that.
Other than that, I’m really pleased with everyone else, especially BARAZITE!!

Thanks for the updates!
If Traore isn’t playing than Arsene needs to bring him back to Arsenal. We could use his pace and dribbling on the left side, since Nasri and Rosicky can’t stay fit or get fit.
Barazite is a big talent, give him a chance at Arsenal so he can show as his skills. Belief me, he is better then wilshere, merida, randall,or ramsey.
barazite is going to be a very good player for us but i prefer him in the strikers role. pedro seems to be a bit of a trouble maker but i have never seen him play so cannot judge on his talent.
If Traore isn’t playing maybe it’s all part of Big Tone’s grand design.
Ha, can’t wait to have a punchy cunt bastard back in our team. we haven’t been right since everyone calmed down post-invincible season.
Barazite seems like he’s got real potential. I understand that with him only being young, he’s not a natural starter but at least he’s getting experience as a decider.
Shame to see Traore not play but he is getting time at Pompy.
J, do we have January recall clauses for Traore and Barazite?
Barazite is due to return on December 31st and there is no signs that it will be extended, but it could happen.
Traore is at Pompey until the end of the season, no call back agreement.
JS intresting maybe barazite will be playing for us in the new year we need wingers we are desperatley short of them. From watching him play hes very similar to robert pires hes tall and he can keep the ball in tight areas and hes got great vision
barazites our berbatov
barazite our Zlatan
why didn’t harvard nordtveit play is he injured, banned or something
im sorry but, liverpool are better than us
there formation is the HARDEST to break down
One of FIFA rules states that a player can only play for two clubs within a season. Nordveit has already played for Salamanca, but he has since been recalled.
If he were to play for Arsenal (even for the reserve), he would then not be eligible for a loan until the end of the season. As Arsene has decided that he needed more first team action and Arsenal are out of the Carling Cup, he is unlikely to play for Arsenal again this season to let him go on loan and get first team experience.
That loan really screw things for him, knowing that he played in midfield and not centre half and in aggregated time, less than two full games.
The result of Real Sociedad – Salamanca was 1-0, wasn’t it?
The home side scored a late goal in the extra time as I just read on livescore.com.
I cant wait for Barazite to come back its a real shame that traore cant come back too
good idea..thanks
