Loanees – Botelho Gets Another Victim + Traoré

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.

In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.

Reports:

Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca 3-0 Levante (90 Minutes)
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 0-3 Newcastle  (32 Minutes)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 2-1 Carlisle United (90 Minutes)
Abu Ogogo – Barnet 2-2 Gillingham (Suspended)

Previews:

Nacer Barazite – Derby County V Charlton (Monday)

Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 0-3 Newcastle

Armand Traoré’s 32 minute cameo was not enough this afternoon as Portsmouth went down 3-0 against an improving Newcastle.

Injury has restricted Armand’s involvement over the last two weeks, but he was fit enough for a place on the bench ahead of the encounter.

In a first half filled with opportunities, Portsmouth were unlucky not to have a penalty when Bassong felled Defoe in the box, but nothing was given. The half time break came and went but still a goal was missing, until the 52nd minute.

Michael Owen kept up his superb form to put Newcastle in front. Traoré was introduced on 58 minutes to try and force an equaliser, but as time ticked down, The Magpies extended their advantage.

Quick fire goals from Oba Martins and Danny Guthrie sealed the fixture, leaving Tony Adams’ Pompey struggling.

Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca 2-0 Levante

Pedro Botelho maintained his starting birth for Salamanca’s much anticipated home game with Levante.

Coming into the fixture, Salamanca were joint top of the pile and needing the points to keep up the pressure on Xerex. Key to the Union’s excellent form has been the manner they start games, and that was again telling this evening.

Skipper Raúl Gañán thumped his side into a 17th minute lead, not bad for a right back.

Botelho has drawn two red cards and a handful of yellows with his dazzling skills this season, and Levante’s Tena added his name to the list on 54 minutes when he was dismissed for a late lunge on the Brazilian wing back.

The points were sealed for the Union in the 90th minute, when Azkorra converted a penalty, and then sub Paulo Sérgio netted to keep Salamanca top.

Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester 2-1 Carlisle

Kerrea Gilbert completed his second successive 90 minutes following injury during Leicester City’s 2-1 win over Carlisle.

The hosts stuck first via Danny Graham, but a second half come back secured the Foxes the points. Gilbert was involved in a move which led to Andy King equalising, and 9 minutes later sub Mark Davies won it with a debut goal.

Abu Ogogo – Barnet 2-2 Gillingham

Abu Ogogo was suspended for Barnet’s clash with Gillingham, although the 19-year-old will stay on another month after the Bees extended his loan on Friday.

Barnet twice took the lead through Michael Leary and John O’ Flynn, but the visitors hit back in the second half, Andy Barcham and Simeon Jackson with the Gills strikes.

Nacer Barazite – Derby County V Charlton Athletic

Nacer Barazite is expected to start Monday’s relegation clash with Charlton Athletic, in a fixture live on SkySports.

A full match report will be available shortly after full time.

Yes, Tena was sent off. You’ve not understood the article mate. Tena was sent off for a lunge at Botelho.

Pedro will give Clihchy a run next season. That should keep Clichy on his toes, as he is know to loose his concentration at times; particularly towards the end of matches.

Who the f##k can tell whether he’s a winger or a leftback with AW. What is Eboue? Didn’t Gibbs come on vs. Porto at LM? Wenger is trying to make the whole LM or LB, RM or RB an obsolete question! Seems like Pedro contributes to the confusion for the opposition.

Pedro could be the next Silvinho but only a ft taller! Clichy is a great left-back but he doesn’t score nearly enough goals. An attacking full-back should be getting 3 or 4 important goals a season.

Interesting we have 4 players who all appear to be very similar, Clichy, Botelho, Traore & Gibbs not to mention younger players like Evina. I cannot see all these staying at Arsenal what do you think Wenger’s thoughts are? Walcott aside its a shame we dont have a similar wealth down the right wing, I know we have Wilshere but he is a different type of player to this crop

watching Traore yesterday he again shows nothing to suggest he’s Arsenal quality..poor control and TOTALLY one footed…you can predict pretty much what he’s going to do because of that.

Hey Jamie, why isn’t there a loan watch for our very own Philippe Senderos? Or do you consider him a permanent Milan player?

Bothelho gives us cover for Clichy over the next few years, fingers crossed he has a bit of Danny Alves in him, the party hard step over artist. I like the work Traore has put in down south as well, I wonder who will win out (especially if you throw in Kieran Gibbs)… who do you think will be around the squad next Christmas? I say this only because all three of these talented kids are all are at the same age of progression as players, and yet there is only a limited number of spaces.
