Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.
In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.
Reports:
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 1-4 West Ham – (24 Minutes)
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 0-2 Preston – (34 Minutes)
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 1-1 Leeds United – (90 Minutes))
Abu Ogogo – Barnet 0-3 Aldershot – (17 Minutes)
Nacer Barazite – Derby County 0-2 Preston
After his stunning assist last week to grab a vital three points, Nacer Barazite’s reward was to be dumped on the bench, yet again.
Paul Jewell is determined to keep Barazite until the end of the season, but on this showing, he isn’t doing enough to give the winger games. Indeed, whenever Nacer has started, Derby always get positive results.
So in his absence, The Rams dreadful form continued. Sean ST Ledger scored on 28 minutes, and after little invention after the restart, Jewell turned to the on loan Dutchman to rescue his side.
However, despite two excellent shots which were well saved, he could do little to save the day. Ross Wallace then set up Jon Parkin up for number 2 – compounding the misery.
Armand Traoré – Portsmouth 1-4 West Ham
Armand Traoré’s frustrating run on the Portsmouth bench continued this afternoon, as Pompey took on an improving West Ham.
Within 7 minutes the hosts had their opening goal. Armand’s close friend Nadir Belhadj lashed his side into a lead, after good work from Peter Crouch.
Jack Collison levelled proceedings shortly after, setting up a tight finish. Despite dominating from then on, it was West Ham who would turn the fixture on its head. Carlton Cole put the Hammers in front, before a Craig Bellamy double secured a comfortable win.
Traoré was introduced 24 minutes from time, and although he showed some neat touches, the Frenchman did nothing special.
Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 1-1 Leeds United
Kerrea Gilbert continued his starting birth for Leicester City this afternoon, but switched to left back as injuries took their toll.
The table toppers started brightly, and took the lead on 23 minutes when Matt Oakley smashed home. Gilbert’s main action came from taking throw ins, but he was doing enough to preserve a clean sheet.
That was until late on, when Rob Snodgrass rescued a late point for United.
Abu Ogogo – Barnet 0-3 Aldershot
Abu Ogogo’s first Christmas away from Arsenal proved miserable, as he was forced to start from the bench as the Bees took on Aldershot at Underhill.
18 games without a win had taken it’s toll on Barnet’s confidence, and with just 4 minutes gone, it showed. Kirk Hudson bagged the opener, before a second half onslaught sealed the points.
Anthony Charles and Scott Davies goals were sandwiched in between a 17 minute cameo for Ogogo, who filled in at right back.
