Nordtveit Back In Contention For Plymouth Cup Tie

Håvard Nordtveit is in contention to make his first Arsenal appearance since ending his loan spell with UD Salamanca this weekend, as the Gunners take on Plymouth Argyle in the F.A Cup.

Nordtveit mutually agreed to terminate his loan deal with The Union after struggling to adapt to life in Spain, and being forced to make do with a bit part role – often playing out of position.

The past two months have seen Håvard’s playing time limited to just international duty with Norway’s Under 21’s. An issue with his registration meant Neil Banfield couldn’t even hand his former skipper vital minutes for the Reserves, but come midnight on Wednesday, that will all change.

He will then be eligible to take part in any fixtures during the second half of the season, including Saturday’s 3rd round clash with Plymouth at the Emirates.

‘Howie’ has been maintaining his fitness levels during training, but Arsène Wenger – a known fan of the centre back – could bring him back into action as injuries start to clamp some of the Frenchman’s options.

Nacer Barazite will be another face able to play should Wenger decide against extending his spell with manager less Derby County, although the core of the team will be relatively experienced.

Jay Simpson is in line to make his debut for West Bromwich Albion after completing the terms of his loan deal, which will see the Tottenham born marksman join Tony Mowbray’s men until the end of the end of the season.

Great article J..I think he might get some minutes when we are trashing Plymouth with a handful of goals, I bet Wenger wouldn’t want to take chances on any experiment with the FA cup as that’s a chance of a realistic trophy.

I think Jay would light the league with West Brom, I like him much, his speed, power and directness makes me take him over bendtner any day.

J, have you heard of us being linked to arteta? its been making the headlines now, what do you think about it..any truth about that ?

That would be refreshing to see nordviet playing and barazite. Having watched derby and in particular barazite he looks like a prem player. His main assest is not giving the ball away but he needs to work on tracking back. I feel if Nordviet bulks up he could play quite a few games for us in the first team. JS any news of a bust up between gallas and toure apparently toure wants to leave that would be great shame toure has been unlucky with injuries

Not to sound too harsh, but if we had Nordviet playing against Burnley instead of Rodgers i feel we would have won that game.

Every time you mention Jay Simpsons name you state that he comes from Tottenham. Why are you trying to ram this message home? or do you suspect something sinister!!!!!! Happy New Year.

Bartley, hoyte and Nordveit at this stage are all poor,Hoyte at this stage would be the most use to the first team with his pace and ability to play wing back as well as cb

    Nordtveit, Bartley then Hoyte.
Hoyte main strength is his speed, but his positioning and distribution is poor.
Technially Nortdveit is ready, he just needs to bulk up to be able to face the Drogba, Daniel Cousin, Marlon King and other bullies boys of the premiership.

Nordtveit might make the bench but there is no way he starts.

Barazite’s loan has been extended and he’s signed a new contract.

Hoyte supposedly sorted out his loan to a Championship team.

    Arteta ain’t coming.

I really hope we get to see him. As it looks now I find Djourou and Nordveit as our future CB partnership. They could form a deadlock at the back for ten years straight. With them and our current full backs we could have another version of our famous back four.
