Simpson To Pen New Deal & Join West Brom On Loan

Arsenal striker Jay Simpson will join Premiership rivals West Bromwich Albion on January 1st, but not before he completes the formalities on a new contract with the Gunners.

Simpson – who turns 20 the day after boxing day – will link up Tony Mowbray’s Albion following some impressive performances during Arsenal’s Carling Cup run, which saw the versatile forward score twice in his first start against Wigan.

That scoring prowess saw Jay rescue his blossoming reputation, and at the same time attract the interest of a handful of Premiership clubs. Wigan Athletic and Fulham have been consistently linked with a swoop for Simpson, but West Brom have jumped the queue.

The deal will be until the end of the season, and should see Jay face the hustle and bustle of life at the basement of England’s top flight. Points earned through his goals could mean the difference between Premiership survival, or losing up to £40 million.

Before January 1st, Simpson will sign a brand new 2 and a half year contract with the Gunners, after a month of negotiations between both parties. Many have raised questions over the Tottenham born strikers abilities, and the player himself is determined to prove his worth.

“I feel as if I am called upon I could answer some questions but I want to be playing as well so it is a good chance to go out and get some games.”

“Obviously if I am playing regularly I am only going to improve. I am just going to go there and try my hardest and try to score as many goals as I can.”

His positive attitude will no doubt help the cause. You can follow all of Jay’s progress in our regular loanees updates during the New Year.

Why are we letting him go on loan? Our squad is already thin as it is, and if Walcott gets injured we’re gonna have Denilson filling in again when Simpson can do a job there.

He’s not really ready yet for us, so a loan is the best thing for him.

I think we are only extending his contract so that we can sell him sooner or later.

I think its great news for the player and Arsenal.

Hopefully, he will play regularly and come back to replace Bendtner in the squad.

Great move for Simpson, will be good to see him prove himself in the PL… And good news with the new contract for us. Hope he will be our 5th striker next year when / if Bendtner leaves.

This is just what he needs and he should fit in well as he is in some ways similar to the injured Ishmeal Millar.

“My advisors have arranged for me to join West Brom on loan,” the Tottenham born youngster revealed.

“They play good football and hopefully I’ll get some first-team experience which will give me a good chance at Arsenal in the long-term.

“Playing regularly will help me develop my game.”

its good to see that he’ll get more 1st team chances.

J do you think that bischoff and/or merida may get some 1st team chances snce cesc is out for a while because diaby is beginning to look out of his depth and not good enough.

also is there any rumours about possible new players as its been quite when concerning young players
