Bould Happy, Wilshere Learning, Spurs Could Owe Us

Just a quick news round up today before a return to our in depth coverage tomorrow, including highlights of Jay Simpson’s strike for West Brom against Peterborough.

Whilst Arsenal have no fixtures in midweek, the Under 18’s win over Wolves in the FA Youth Cup dominates all the headlines today. The fall out from the game takes over the official site, where Steve Bould starts by praises the young charges and suggests that there is still a lot more to come from this side.

It was an evening of ‘bests’ for many of the young Gunners. Gilles Sunu’s three goals capped off his most emphatic performance in the Red & White, and Henri Lansbury claims the Wolves win was his most impressive encounter since recovering from Glandular Fever. The hat-trick of eye catching players is completed by Emmanuel Frimpong, who drew praise from Bould after his rapid development this term.

Jack Wilshere’s surprise start proved to be more than just another 90 minutes of action, as Bould was quick to point out that the man marking policy adapted by the visitors will help Jack in the future.

Away from Arsenal, former winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is currently having a trial with arch rivals Tottenham. The Dutchman left London in January 2006 amid allegations of drunken antics and drug use. He has since moved onto Celta Vigo and Birmingham on loan, but should Spurs chose to make his deal a permanent one, his current employers Spartak Moscow would forward some of Daniel Levy’s pennies straight into Arsène Wenger’s transfer fund.

Interesting to see Wilshere being used in the hole in the 3-1 win. I watched the highlights today. Did anyone watch the whole game? If so how did he perform in that position?

    Question to J,

Do you know if there are anymore major talents in the Wilshere mould making their way through the ranks.

    Cheers

If Tottenham think Quincy is guna help them become a top 4 club they’re off their heads. Hes good but inconsistant and unreliable, which is why he didnt stay in Russia and none of the big boys in Spain made a serious grab for him.

Its almost as ridiculious as City trying to get Bellamy… cuz hes definatly the kind of player that will help the side gel and take them to the champions league aint he… or looking at his track record maybe not.

J, I read on Arsenal.com that Wilshere was carried off with a “serious ankle injury”, and that the game was a night to forget because of this. Is he really injured?

It was MURPHY who got the ankle injury… not Wilshere, the report on the Arsenal website isn’t written well.

J, any news on the Rhys Murphy injury? I heard that it was “serious” and to his ankle, so are we looking at ligaments, and if so that will be a number of months won’t it?

Also cheers on the great site and keep up the good work mate =)
