Young Guns Podcast – Your Chance To Get Involved

Young Guns’ first podcast is in production, and whilst one of the main purposes is to provide you with added enjoyment of  the sites content, we would also like to ask for your opinions.

The first issue will include profiles on Under 18’s coach Steve Bould and his captain Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. Subsequently we would like you to e-mail in your views on both, and have the opportunity to have the mail read out.

Eventually the idea is that people will send in voice clips, but as the cast is still in its early stages, e-mails would be preferred. Not only would we like comments on Bould and Emmanuel-Thomas, but your thoughts on the idea, and features you’d like to see would all be appreciated.

All e-mails should be sent to – younggunspodcast@googlemail.com

We’ll respond ASAP and let you know if your views will be published. No date has been set for its first release, although early next week it will be available for download.

J, my two cents: Steve Bould is the most underrated player in Arsenal’s history. He also seems to be very good at his current job although it does seem odd that such a perfect defender in his prime is responsible for no real promise at centre back in his u18s.

Well there are a lot of other people that are involved with the development of the youngsters than Bould alone. He only gets the players when they are 16 years old, 15 in rare cases.

He also got a Raw deal with england Samuel 2 games a 5-0 win and 0-0 draw and gets dropped but then again Venebles was in charge we know he else he managed that says enough.

Sorry JS just really wanted to know if you think he has a realistic chance of making it or whether he will be like Rhys Murphy and score loads of goals at youth level then not really hit such high heights at reserve level.

Tony: Stone was correct, in describing what the u18 coach does. Considering we don’t know the insides of the job, its hard to say how much influence he has but as u18 coach, he must be in regular contact to influence Wenger/Brady about technique of training that must resonate all down the line from 9 to 19 – it just seems odd that it hasn’t helped centre backs.

*Of course, considering we are only starting to see the first couple years of the Wengerball academy, Bould’s influence may help down the line, but we have 1 Brady and 1 Wilshere to show for it, ya know…

Read the thread Tony and you will see what I meant. Don’t start accusing people of some hypocritical bullshit if you don’t know the heck what you’re talking about. I did not say anything about Bould’s contribution to the club. I was answering Samuel’s comment about why there weren’t many good CB coming through with such a great defender coaching them.

And btw. I have supported Arsenal for 12 years which is pretty much as long as I could have, considering I’m 19, my parents aren’t fans and I don’t live in England. Does that make me less of a supporter because I wasn’t around to see Herbert Chapman hire the first physio? I’m sick of people like you being a smug because you have supported Arsenal for so god damn long. No, I don’t remember the 80’s and I don’t remember George Graham but just as a legitimate supporter as you are.

Could you give more info on bright prospects in the U16’s and U14’s who look like they have big potential? Because i’ve heard about youth player we have called Kyle Young and would like to hear more info on him and other prospects.
