The only criticism you could have labeled on Nacer Barazite since his switch to Derby County, is that the winger has not scored enough goals.
His numerous assists have been vital in helping The Rams push up the Championship table, but for somebody who plays week-in-week-out, he should be scoring more.
This evening – against Blackpool – Nacer again racked up another assist; but went one better this time. With Derby already comfortable through a Kris Commons double and Paul Green’s well taken strike, the 18-year-old produced some magic to wrap up the evening.
After collecting possession deep in Blackpool’s half, Barazite stepped up through the gears and accelerated towards Matthew Gilks’ goal. Naz jinked his way beyond a duo of attempts to bring the run to a premature end, before unleashing a left foot drive from the edge of the box. Despite taking a small deflection on it’s way past Gilks, the goal was something special.
Barazite is developing well with Derby, and after showing his new defensive prowess at the weekend, Arsenal are sure to receive a more complete player in the summer.

BS.
Stop being so damn optimistic.
It was a deflected goal ffs, and to be quite honest, I dont see what the big fuss about barazite is anymore – He done excellent in the reserves, and had a good little showing in the cup.
But he is lightweight, not full of trickery, not full of pace, a good dribbler, but nowhere near a good enough attacking option for arsenal, not via passes, or goals scored – and all talk of his defensive improvement must be seen for what it is – NOTHING.
Squad player at best.
Dont make me start a site just to counteract the blatant proganda you’re pushing on some of these players – because they wont make it at Arsenal, and it’s OFFENSIVE to see you con semi-ignorant fans into believing otherwise.
Developing well my rear end.
That a matter of your opinion Daniel. I just reported the news.
If you watched the game against Manchester United, he tracked back several times and make good tackles to win the ball against Patice Evra. That’s not an opinion, that’s a fact, as he never used to track back. This is something new added to his game.
That’s development, my friend. He has half a dozen assists this term – another fact – and missed a spell before Christmas through injury. If you watch Nacer on a regular basis, you will see that whilst he doesn’t have Walcott pace, he is clever, technically excellent, and for his first season in a League well known for having a rough reputation, he has adapted well.
I don’t know what problem you seem to have with Nacer, or the article, but calling a goal report ‘proganda’ (I presume you mean propaganda) is scary.
he scored a good goal 2nite…
and me personally, i think he has a future at arsenal…
can be our new pires hopefully
I agree with Daniel, not necessarily about Barazite but about the constant hyping of young players. Not all of them are going to make it with us, but they all seem to be hailed as the best of their age group.
Is that why last season in an interview Wenger said Nacer is one of the best prospects at the club and the closest to making it into the first team.
I partly agree with what he said, but there is no medium. This is just a report on a goal, and the way Daniel has put across has made himself sound silly for no reason.
When we did an analysis and used facts on Luke Freeman a few weeks ago, it was shot down. People don’t want to hear bad things about our youngsters, and now, apparently they don’t want to hear the good too. You can’t be too positive or too negative about our young players. So we just report facts and let people have their opinions in the comment section.
As the famous phrase goes – don’t shoot the messenger!
I was impressed with nacer barazite tracking back evra, considering he was playing as a striker for our reserves. I think young players getting loaned to championship and league 1 benefits them physically. They get stronger, quicker, sharper due to playing regularly. It also helps them mentally stronger. I like barazite but i dont know if he can play up front for us. Maybe as a winger but i prefer wingers with blistering pace- robben, messi, ronaldo, walcott, lennon.
He actually reminded me of milos krasic the cska moscow player hes exactly like him
JS how has Kyle Bartley performed do u think hes got a future at the club? Whats happened to Nordviet he seemed to have gone backwards since his loan spell and has luke Ayling signed a new deal-we have to keep him he looks top class.
barazite has tonnes of talent, what is that guy talking about?
hes skillful, participates well in team moves and from what ive seen is a very good finisher
he can play either flank and up front
the sort of player that can really make it at arsenal
he may be a little lightweight but hes very tall and a young man – hel bulk up!
OH wow – do allow me to retort.
Firstly his assist tally is what? 6 or 7 in a team that used to be the worst ever to be seen in the premiership and has now simply turned into a mediocre little grafter side.
He tracked back several times – it’s manchester united, what exactly did you think the manager told him to do? let some of the best wingers in the world pass you by? – Hardly equates to defensive PROWESS.. merely professionalism.
I couldnt care less about what anyone says about Barazite, his potential and anything else – Performance on the pitch is what counts and in every game barring that cup game against nottingham he’s been neutral, pedestrian and a player who while obviously technically sound – is nothing extra.
Qualifying what I’ve said – he is only 18 and has made decent progress – but there’s absolutely nothing to suggest that he’s going to flourish in football, let alone with Arsenal. He could just as easily go the way of Quincy, rather then the way of Walcott, which never seems to be reflected in your reports or your opinion.
And there’s a difference between Luke freeman and Barazite – a two year age difference – which in a team like Arsenal means something, Freeman might not set the world alight either but at 16.. he’s certainly got time to find his feet – Barazite is on loan to get experience that is supposed to propel him further and while bendtner and Jay Simpson eXcelled in their loan debut’s – this dutch prodigy as he’s been dubbed – has barely registered a beat. And please dont correct my spelling mistakes – your site has made too many spelling and grammatical errors for you or anyone associated with you to dare enter that field of discussion.
Luke Freeman is only a few weeks away from 17 years old. It’s not two years. Its been proven that age means nothing at this club – ask Jack Wilshere all about that.
He didn’t have to track back, he’s an attacking winger. He went out of his way to track back and keep an eye on Evra. Even when the Reserves had spells where they didn’t have the ball, he would never track back.
Theo Walcott is a very fine player, who’s developed very well. He has much to learn still, but he’s young – like Nacer. And for your info – we actually covered Quincy recently.
The boss is a big fan of Nacer as highlighted above, and that’s what matters. Derby are a poor team, and he’s been one of the best loanees this campaign, making a good amount of assists.
You are welcome to your opinion, and you’ve come to the right place to debate it, but the way you’ve come across is a little aggresive and silly. Make your own site to ‘correct’ the work of this site? please, how old are you?
Thank you J.Sanderson for keeping us informed about Barazite and the others development.
Many fans will question if he and the other young players at the club will have a chance to breakthrough into the first team and that’s understandable.
When I try to figure that out I have a headache as that is one hard question, a look at our squad shows how hard it is now for the younger players to breakthrough, just look:
Wide players: Rosicky, Nasri, Arshavine, Walcot
Central players: Fabregas, Denilson, Diaby, Song
Wing backs: Sagna, Eboue, Clichy, Gibbs
Center Backs: Gallas, Toure, Djourou, Senderos
Forwards: Van Persie, Eduardo, Bdendtner, Adebayore
Now the young players that hopes to succeed has to overcome these players, or show the potential to emulate them at least.
Of our young lads there are some with huge potential, but could leave in a couple of years if they can’t have a place in the team, such as:
Vela, Ramsey, Wishere, Barazite, Traore, Simpson, Merida, Bischoff, Lansbury, Coquelin, Randall, Frimpong, Thomas, Nordtveit, Botelho, Bartley, Murfy, Sunu and Afobe.
This list of players have a real chance to breakthrough, but will also have a lot of disappointment, for having players who are forced to leave due to overstock in the first team.
Personally I find the list too good to lose players from it, we have a couple of old players to a degree in the first team, and all have a minimum of 4-5 years ahead of them, so all we can hope for is that the younger player wait for their turns and learn a lot from older players and the loan experiences until then, Maybe after a couple of loan deals they can send Adebayore, Denilson, Song and Senderos
I find it strange to keep asking myself these kind of questions, but it let me feel good that Arsenal will survive and keep doing well even after losing any player in the squad, and that’s not something other teams can brag about like us.
This is a great website, and I for one am delighted that the Young Guns are being treated with such fairness. Imagine if you were one of these young players who undoubeedly checks out this site: why shoot them down when they are playing well? We should be encouraging our Young Guns and highlighting their success.
daniel, i dont know what’s your problem but they still young, developing and full of potential, that’s enough reasons to be optimistic. if you straight away told nacer or any other young footballers that they will not make it at arsenal, what do you think it will do to their confidence? we all want the best for the kids and for the team. better to be positive than negative mate.. if you remember ashley cole, he’s not one of the best when he still 17 and 18. but now he first choice england left back. that’s nothing definite when you still this young so anything can happen.
not much…….i dont think hes old enough……thinks n speaks like a kid…..
NACER ROCKS……infact i dunno Y he was loaned out….
he did so well in the pre-season games…..he could have filled in for Walcott n given Eboue more than a challenge for the RW spot in da team…..
He surely has a very Bright future wid Arsenal infact i expect him to play in the Henry role in the years 2 cum…….
GO BARAZITE!!!!!!!!
Hey Daniel, just relax J’s just updating what he thought of Naz in the game…personally i rate him really high cos he used to score goals for fun at the academy and reserves…this loan spell will only make him better…and one of the particular reasons why the Boss sends these youngsters on loan is to gain a bit of physical advantage and learn a bit on the defensive side cos the Boss wouldn’t have signed him if he wasn’t good technically and with his attacking ability…anyways thanks J and as always fantastic coverage !!!
J, do you think Miles Addison the CM/CB from Derby is a decent prospect? I read Steve Claridge’s report on him, and he sounds quite promising. I also watched him score against the Mancs last week.
Daniel, you are making yourself look like an idiot. Please go away. Wenger likes him, Derby likes him, you don’t. Maybe you should get a job as a manager since you know so much more than everyone else.
The kid got a goal and an assist and, as you said, has 6 or 7 assists in a little over half a season at a mediocre side. That’s pretty damn good. Look at Jay’s numbers when he won player of the season in League One- not much better than Nac’s are they?
If you have a problem with people who are still positive about Arsenal there are plenty of blogs out there that cater just to people like you. Jay does a good job on this site, if you don’t like it, go make your own.
Jaime, I respect you alot but I don’t think you should allow yourself to be dragged into this type of arguement.

Daniel
Barazite is 18 and is doing well in proving himself at the championship level. Most people are happy with his progression and I think he’s got a chance at Arsenal. If he isn’t good enough, then he will be sold for a good fee because he going to be a very good player.
I’ve seen Nacer in 2 or 3 games this year, so can’t pass any judgements on him but… Actually i don’t think it matters if he’ll make it here or not. As long as he is an Arsenal player we the supporters must constantly give him our support, be more positive and acknowledge ath good he does. It’s very important – especially for young players. And in the end it’s up to him, i can’t remember Wenger releasing any young player that was really good.
j
got video of that goal and assist
or got video of his whole season up til now ?
nacer is a monster .
Daniel, it’s very clear what you’re doing – you’re just taking out all your Arsenal frustration on JS and on the fans who continue to be optimistic. There are other Arsenal fans who choose to believe that Barazite can be a Walcott rather than a Quincy (call it glass-half-full if you need to). Jay Simpson is a case in point – I didn’t think he would make it at Arsenal, but he’s developed very late and looks to have a foot in the door.
Scared to publish my previous comments? Cowards!
Good ‘un J.
J,
Don’t even bother with idiots. you can big up players, because we all want the arsenal young guns to come good. i have my doubts about barazite and others, but i’ll follow them and root for them because their arsenal. keep up the good work.
Just a short n ote on this debate. A lot of young players are asked to ply wide when they first make their debuts with the first team. It’s considered too much responsibility to give them central roles.
Therefore a player like Barazite, who is definitely more suited playing centrally, is asked to play wide and those that have not seen him play much probably think he is an up and coming winger when he clearly is not.
Daniel has obviously never seen Barazite play before. Those of us that have know that he definitely has a futre and will score goals. He is quite direct when playing centrally and has a terrific shot with very little backlift.
Wilshere is another example of a central player starting off playing wide, and even the great Bergkamp himself started off on the wing for Ajax.
Give them a chance Daniel and if you’re that annoyed at the assessments here why not go and watch the academy yourself and see who you rate?
Daniel Lionhead:
Please do f*ck off. Comments and opinions welcome. More than that, please keep them in your pub!
Like the site JS, but I agree with Daniel on this one. I would like to be proven wrong with Nacer developing into the next Pires. As for me Bobi has never been replaced. Can you see Nacer getting in the team in front of the current crop of attacking options we have at our disposal? The simple truth is No.
Its likely he’ll be loaned out again next season then bought by a midtable outfit. No doubt Wenger will again be shrewd and put a sell on clause in the deal same as Bentley, Diarra, Mvamba etc. Which will net us a tidy profit in future years.
N.B. Changing the subject, whats happening with Traore and Senderos? Are they coming back next year or going to be sold?
Barazite has done very well, hes only 18, and look at the team hes in, Bendtner was in a Birmingham team who were challenging for promotion.
Nacer Barazite is quick. Sometimes it looks as though he’s not but that’s because he doesn’t have the best acceleration.
Pace and acceleration are two different things entirely. Over the first 5 metres Barazite isn’t quick but over a longer distance he is. This was highlighted against United when Evra, a very fast individual, collected the ball from deep and continued down the flank at full speed to the byline only for Nacer, tracking back from Uniteds’ half, to catch up with him and make a challenge.
My feelings towards Barazite – I don’t see him as being good enough to displace Theo/Wilshere nor Bendtner/Vela, more on a par with Simpson who is going through a similar situation of having the potential of a future good performer for a respectable Premiership club, but not nec. good enough to displace our second choice players in their position, let alone the starters like Arshavin or RVP. That said, Theo and Bendtner didn’t really see first team football until 20ish and as our very young first team is growing up and into their positions, maybe the next generation will have to wait like players at normal clubs, till about 23 to be given a chance. It was certainly the age limit we gave to Hoyte and Senderos to prove themselves, and with the team starting to rapidly fill out, I expect that to be the case for the rest of the positions soon enough. So in reality, discussions of whether a player at 18 (which, as of next season is not an age that will guarantee you a carling cup spot like this year) is good enough to be worthy of our team seems a tad premature. It’s the kids first time playing regularly professional football and while he isn’t turning out look as promising as we hoped, the likes of Drogba and Toni, off the top of my head, took till about the age of 25 to prove themselves worthy of being at the highest level, let alone at world class standards. Barazite may not be good enough and end up playing regularly in Division 2, or he may turn out to be the next Eto’o, or more likely somewhere in between – but setting in stones your idea of a player in their first season of professional football is outright ludicrous.
Agree 100% with Daniel,Barazite has decent technique but nothing else in his locker to warrant a place in next seasons Carling cup first 11.So another year on loan next season for the lad and he would be damn lucky to get a move to a poor prem team as a bit part player.
Heard Osasuna want to take pedro botelho on loan. Apparently he need one year more to qualify for a work permit to play in the premier league. So hes taking the same path as carlos vela.
GO ON JAMIE! u got mine and everyone elses full support
http://www.arsenal.com/reserves-youth/players/conor-henderson
Henderson gets his own profile page.
Oh first of all, if you are going to have a debate with anyone, there is no point in being so aggressive as all you do is ensure your logical reasons aren’t really listened to.
First of all, I do believe that Barazite is a decent player, however i think he is like many of our players technical good but he needs to show more of a cutting edge; something that can be said about many of arsenal players. He isn’t playing in one of the best teams in the Championship , therefore i don’t believe that his attacking skill has been able to show as much as would been in a more attacking team.
However I do believe that he will get a least a season in the arsenal first team cause Arsene will give him a chance, in order to become a first team player he need to develop something extra pretty soon; be that pace or the ability to do something special like RVP.
However in order to stop the accusation of being slightly biased or wearing rose-tinted glass in writing your reports, you might need to think about include more video links , so you don’t have to be so descriptive in your reports and allow people to make up their own mind on a player.
me i like nacer very much.. Reminds me of berbatov.. his first touch , physique and amazing skills with the ball.. Looks like arsenal has got a berbatov on their hands. Keep it up nacer
Daniel Lionhead is an idiot
I think baraite can make it but needs to score more but they do play him as a winger so he’s not doing so bad.
J any truth to the rumour about us singing croatia under-19 international Duje Cop ?
As i said before, i was at that ManU-Derby game and Barra was excellent at tracking back at one of the best, if not the best left back in the world and even going forward he showed good skill and pissed a few players. He still has a way to go but he is quite a big lad aswell which will stand him in good stead as a striker as he also has pace. Daniel, u mug don’t blame J for bringing the news to us because he doesn’t just praise he criticises as well.
JS dont go down to his level and make this another Eurosport/yahoo message board which has absolutely no credit left.
Think its great you give us a personal verdict of some of players now and then. You seem to watch all the games and give us good reports. But its also good to get a little update now and then how they progress. And who you see as future 1st team material. And of course that has to be subject of your own opionon. …
So keep up the good work…
ps any contract news reg. Luke Ayling would be welcome…
No offence j but you do sensationalize a bit
Btw Daniel, bringing up how bad Derby is makes his assist tally MORE impressive, not less…
I have no idea if he’ll make it or not, but that’s a flawed argument.
How do we have Eboue and not Quincy?
Odd

Barazite’s run and goal at 0:39
any chance of a video of the goal
Oops, my sincerest apologies Mr Sanderson, for one calling you J Simpson and for two posting in the wrong comments section.
I have avidly followed you blog and count you as one of my inspirations behind the development and hopeful future growth of my personal blog, which acta as a tribute to Arsene Wenger and all things Arsenal.
I think we have a shaired passion in totally backing Le Boss in his endeavours to create an Ajax style production line of total footballers that will help our club fight with the top clubs over the coming finnacilly difficult years.
Clearly once our debts are in order, we will have adequate revenue to be a man utd, barca, real and splash the cahs on ready made top guns.
Anyway, continue the super work you are involved with, forget the knockers, this is life, they will always be there to try and peg back those who are climbing more swiftly in life.
Hopefully we can support one anothers blog’s. I have linked you to mine.
Cheers
CAT FIGHT!!!!!!
On a more serious note, I was watching the match too, Naz did track back, although you could plainly see he wasn’t too enthusiastic about doing so (as many natural forwards are loath to do), but do it he did.. Now when he got the ball to feet, I thought he was very good.. IMO he has a better football brain than Walcott while not being as dependent on physical attributes such as pace / power..
BTW lil Theo has a tiny football brain, He’s a sprinter who has to be taught how to play football (and yes I did see some of his Southampton goals which were brilliantly and instinctively taken..)
Haha – I’ve stirred the NEST!! =- YAY.
1st Point – I already clarified that at 18 Barazite has time to make more of an impression, but dont kid yourself about pressure – Theo Walcott – that’s pressure, Fabregas actually in the First Team – THATS pressure.
2nd Point – I dont need to take out frustrations on a fellow Arsenal supporter or reporter just because the team isnt doing well. I told fellow fans during the world cup final between France and Italy that Arsenal wouldnt win anything for the next 3-4 years due to a combination of some of this optimisic way of thinking wenger, and some fans have about certain players who will only ever be above average – and the other side that players who are good, but inexperienced have to accumilate exp. I’m pretty calm in my thinking. Arsenal wont win anything this season – so will a lot of clubs, the development continues.
3rd Point – Football intelligence counts for nothing if you arent effective. It’s very easy to distort figures and stats.. and say Barazite has assisted Derby players is making a real impression at Derby – I know Derby, hell I’ve slept with a derby fan – he isnt the next damn overmars – he’s doing okay.. but NOTHING to shout about – it’s not a failure – he’s not a mishap like a certain right back – But he’s not making the the tangible difference like Jay Simpson and Bendtner and even Muamba & Larsson did.
4th Point – I stick by what I say about propoganda on this site, because some reports and lack of qualified comments on this site will lead to those not in the know, not able to travel to a game, or not financed enuough to buy a Arsenal TV account – That Arsenal players are just bloooming like epping forest – That’s not the case – there are some promising players.. and there is some above average players.. and there are some deadwood that wont have an Arsenal future – And I’m not about to call Barazite
or another player for that matter to be the absolute buisness – when quite frankly – they arent.
5th Point – I dont hate barazite – dont be silly – He’s an Arsenal player – why would I HATE him? – I simply question the overrating of an 18yr old made to look somewhat good in a distinctly below-average championship derby side.
6th Point – Opinions are everyones.. You dont like it? cool – you agree – cool – it’s an opinion, he has his – I have mine – it’s become personalized thro barazite for some reason – but thats missing the point.. the point is.. overhyping players is silly, becuase when they dont make it – it makes your reporting appear baseless and false.
I couldnt care less if my text appeared aggressive – as a fan talking to a fan it shouldnt have been considered such. If I saw J at a bar.. the first drink would be on me – before I tell him about the propganda. Till next time people.
Lionhead.

Personally i quite like Barazite. No he isnt like Fabregas, Walcott, Wilshire etc… in that he isnt a quick developer. But not all players start to really show their potential until early 20s and many dont start putting in consistantly solid performances until 23 (which is the way i believe Bendtner will probably go).
No Barazite hasnt set the world alight and isnt likely to in the couple of coming years but he does have potential. If he’ll forfill that potential and whether or not he’ll be a top class player when he does remains to be seen but the possibility is there.
I dont think people should slagg off Daniel for voicing an opinion especially since it was one that made some decent points. Personally i recon Barazite is a good player, with potential but only time will tell.
Well said Lionhead and thanks Jamie for not deleting all the posts you don’t agree with for a change,At least we can all have a debate now,For the record Nacer is no better than Anthony Stokes at the same age as I have stated many times.
