Loanees – Barazite & Steer Play As Weather Takes Hold

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal currently have thirteen Reserve team players gaining experience elsewhere. Armand Traoré and Jay Simpson remain in the top flight with Portsmouth and West Brom respectively, whilst Gavin Hoyte, Nacer Barazite and Rui Fonte are playing Championship football for Watford, Derby County and Crystal Palace.

Further down the divisions, League One sides Leicester City, Northampton Town and Scunthorpe United have Kerrea Gilbert, Paul Rodgers and Henri Lansbury, while fellow defenders Abu Ogogo and Rene Steer will ply their trade with League Two Barnet and Gillingham. Two prospects are cutting their teeth aboard – Vincent van den Berg at Dutch minnows FC Zwolle, and Pedro Botelho with Spanish link club UD Salamanca.

In this update you can read about the following players in the following games.

Jay Simpson – West Brom 2-3 Newcastle

Jay Simpson was forced to sit out West Brom’s clash with Newcastle United this afternoon after picking up a hamstring injury in midweek.

The Baggies were missing Jay’s pace and energy in the opening stages, and were punished when Damien Duff handed Newcastle an early lead. Simpson’s replacement Marc-Antoine Fortuné levelled, before Peter Lovenkrands bagged a goal on his first start.

Steven Taylor’s effort looked to have put things beyond West Brom’s reach just before half time. However, Newcastle were a touch complacent in the second period, and with time ticking down, Fortuné lashed his second of the game to set up a tight finish.

Nacer Barazite – Derby County 3-0 Plymouth

Nacer Barazite continued his run in the Derby County side with another start as the Rams took on Plymouth at Home Park.

Derby looked shaky and uncordinated in the opening stages, but snapped into life through Kris Commons who shot just over. A plethora of fouls dogged the majority of the half, until Gary Teale’s strike found a way beyond Roman Larrieu and into the net.

With their tails up, Derby doubled the advantage after the restart through Rob Hulse. Teale got away down the left, and crossed for Hulse to crash home the second.

That combination brought about the third, before Barazite’s stinging free kick saw Addison head inches wide. Nacer forced Larrieu into action with 20 minutes left with a dipping drive from range – County were in total control.

On 75 minutes Nacer was replaced with Mile Sterjovski on the right wing.

Rene Steer – Gillingham Town 0-2 Bradford

Rene Steer continued his role as Gillingham Town’s bench warmer as they hosted Bradford in one of only 5 fixtures that went ahead in League Two.

It looked like it was going to be another bore draw heading into the break, but Bradford’s Omar Daley warmed the visiting crowd with a well taken finish.

The visitors kicked on after the break, and with 20 minutes left Michael Boulding took advantage of poor defending to slot home the second.

On 78 minutes Rene was pulled off the bench to make his debut at the fourth time of asking, replacing Dennis Oli.

live on skysports, not life. Typos r a bitch i know… just thought id point it out incase u wanna change it.

Other than that shame about the whether but good detailed article all the same. Sounds like Barazite is doing well, cant wait to see him play for us in the summer and see how far hes come on as a player.

Do u know how rodgers did when he finally came on? And whats the story behind Gilberts loan, will he be returning or is it something we could see become perminant? It always sounds like hes pretty solid for them from reading ur aticles every week.

Traore picked up an injury, thus didn’t play. No idea when or what, but Setanta stated that as why he wasn’t in the 16.

J do you have any idea where Barazite stands in the pecking in order with AW, and do you think that he will be a starting striker in the carling cup next season or made to play on the wing like he is at derby because i think that he will be a top, top striker in the future.
