Loanees – Lansbury's Scunthorpe Reach Wembley

Henri Lansbury – Scunthorpe 1-0 Rotherham United

Henri Lansbury’s Scunthorpe United are off to Wembley to face Luton Town in the final of the Johnson’s Paint Trophy, after beating Rotherham United 3-0 on aggregate.

Gary Hooper’s second half strike sealed the victory, after a 2-0 win at Glanford Park in the first leg of the semi’s. Lansbury made his debut for the Iron from the bench at the weekend, and despite showing some tidy touches, he found himself back among the substitutes for the biggest game of Scunthorpe’s season.

The tie was a rather poor and uneventful one, but Hooper’s superb finish in the 74th minute sent Nigel Adkins’ men through to Wembley where they will play Luton on April 5th.

In the 84th minute Henri emerged in place of the goalscorer Hooper, and operated behind Paul Hayes as time ticked down. The England Under 19 skipper only had 3 touches of the ball, and will hope to have his loan extended to enable himself to be in contention for the final.

Great site J. I was at the Gillingham V Aldershot game last night as my brother is a season ticket holder for Gillingham and Rene Steer played his first 90 minutes for the Gills. He played well in the first half but really began to lose his way in the second half. He seems very confused at times whether to stay with the winger or close down the play and he tends to get caught doing neither. I don’t think he’ll make it at Arsenal but he might be ok in league 2.

Hope he gets to play some part in the final… that’d be a massive experiance for him and if he plays well, not just then but in the coming games fo Scumthorpe it could be a massive confidance builder aswell, which is something he really needs. We all know hes got the technique but since the gladular feaver he just hasnt managed to bring his game together during matches (bar a couple of occasions).

At the moment as hes playing now id say he doesnt have much of a chance at Arsenal, Coquelin, JET and Frimpong, all who are similar positionally are all doing much better, but if he gets back on track he might find himself in real contention, same goes for Randall aswell.

Barazite scored for Derby in a 4-1 victory over Blackpool. Just thought that early news of that result would be of interest to people.
Apparently it was deflected, but its great that he’s got a goal. Also, although not a young gun, Eddy’s comeback match on monday went pretty well =), and showed he’s picked up where he was stopped.
J – how long are Rhys Murphys & Miguel out for?
    -thanks

Heard Henri Lansbury was very good for scunthorpe in the second half against bristol rovers. Spoke to some scunny fans and they said he was their best player. I like the guys attitude by the fact he rejected premiership and championship offers to go up north where its muddy, windy and to a league where technical ability is not needed as much as physicality. The fact hes moved out from his comfort zone london tells me this kid is going to be a top class midfielder. I expect him and jack wilshere to break our first team.

He is clearly a better player, but Barazite so reminds me of Paolo Vernazza from about 10 years ago :)
