Arsenal have agreed to sign Barcelona Cadete B winger Héctor Bellerin, according to Sky Sports. The Spanish Under 16 international follows fellow La Masia product Jon Toral to North London.
Bellerin turned down a new contract last month, following a series of disagreements with coaching staff. Chelsea and Manchester United were both initially keen, but Arsenal moved quickly to secure his services. A compensation package of around €400,000 is said to have been agreed.
The pacy wide-man joins central midfielder Jon Toral in switching from Barcelona to Arsenal this summer, in a deal worth €350,000. All in all, around €1 million will eventually change hands.
Héctor and Jon both sign three-year-deals with the option for a further two years.
Excellent News..
Have you heard anything on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain? Apparently talks have been re-opened? Or is that rubbish
Like I said, La Masia is falling apart (or at least the current group) They are lucky that Gerard Delofeu and Marc Muniesa at least signed, the two biggest talents they have. Rafa Alcantara still wavering too.
I’d take Marc Muniesa in a heartbeat. Top prospect
How and why are they falling apart? Moreover, why did he choose Arsenal? Do we have a representative in a hotel room near their training ground?
REVENGE !!..
Arsenal need to find some young full-backs. That is one area that we are lacking in the reserves and younger levels
any footage of this guy
Xavi Quintellia are we thinking of signing him as well?
yeah we will rule the world in 2015!!! come on arsenal..
only jokin if the are anything has good has cesc i will be happy gooner.
So what is new here?! Mr. Wenger’s actions (inactions) in the player transfer business after 2004 illustrate that he cannot be trusted any more to strengthen the Arsenal squad. On the contrary, grumpy Arsene has mastered the art of spewing out vague statements to keep the fans hoping for squad re-enforcements until after mid-night of 31st August when the traumatising reality comes to pass i.e. a transfer window ending without quality signings. Gunners’ end-of-season form suggests that Arsenal could have finished in the 9th position if the Premier League had continued for another four weeks! For that matter, under-fire Mr. Wenger is promising a “busy summer” in the transfer market to deflect scrutiny away from himself. But he has made such statements before to wind-down time until the transfer window slams shut. So unless Mr. Wenger signs some quality players by close of June 2011, the fans should brace themselves for an agonising 2011- 2012 season with “stars” like Bendtner, Almunia, Lehmann, Denilson, Diaby, Squillaci, Koscielny, Rosicky, Eboue, Vela and Arshavin pulling on the red+white jersey and running that show at the Emirates. And when the transfer window is closed, Mr. Wenger will typically utter something like: “We have now matured and i am confident that with the quality of our squad, we shall compete for trophies on all fronts”. So fans, please mark my words and don’t allow Mr. Wenger to falsely raise your hopes again. Clearly, the man is now a rapacious BUSINESSMAN hell-bent on amassing profit but still masquerading as a soccer manager at Arsenal FC!
You fool, the transfer window has even opened yet. These boys are for the reserves and not first team. AW has even started his business yet.
Do everyone a favour and go back to Spurs.
*Has not even opened yet
So basically you are suggesting we dont sign any youngsters and only sign established players…Thats Viable? How about no youth team? no reserves? no second team. How about we just have 11 superstars and no bench?
Signing two youngsters does not impact the first team whatsoever..Good youngsters is only good news. Because he signs 3 kids..5 kids…10 kids…15 kids does not mean he wont sign any senior players…
I cannot wait to see you fall flat on your face when Wenger actually does make several signings this summer. I expect you’ll still complain, though.
@Moses
Haters gonna hate. You should probably fuck off now.
Gloryhunters such as yourself disgust me. Go and support Manchester City you bellend.
Do THESE types of “fans” realise that their negativity doesn’t actually help in any shape or form…e.g. when we played Barca, Chelsea and Man U we managed to win those gsmes, why? Possibly because we had a loud and positive performance in the stands. Contrast this to the Liverpool game (for example) where many (not all) fans were doing a lot of sighing and ahhing rather than cheering. And many were moaning when Bendtner came on and one or two shouted negative comments, yet he was coming on to try and help us win the game, anyway as a result of the negativity we drew the game after a very flat performance. Compare that game along with the atmosphere in the Barca game and tell me how negativity helps in any shape or form
True Gonners can be frustrated and say the odd bad thing about the club but no need to slate the team so badly it isnt neccessary
And yet the man has stayed in the top 4 every season. I’m not saying that is what we’re aiming for, but if it’s true that his focus is purely business and he has lost all ability to build a team, we’d have crash below that by now.
Hysterical.
Soccer manager?
I always think people who call football soccer dont really know about the game.
Alot of people in america who I know that are hardcore football fans hate the use of the word soccer.
As a London boy i also hate that word soccer. learn a lil more about the game before challenging our greatest ever manager.
What a moron! Wenger has nothing to do with these acquisitions, if you would like to moan about first team matters do so elsewhere!!!
another loyal fan who thinks wenger just decided to make money after we moved to the new stadium, before that he cared about the fans after that he cared about the board and his shareholders
Wenger doesn’t take all the cash home you guys do know that right? ask any person who knnows anything about finances and before last season we had almost 200m of housing financial cloud on our head + stadium debt and in those financial conditions only an idiot would have spend beyond his means.
Last season was the first season where we had some financial freedom and this season is important because its a changing of policy from reling to youth to a mixutre of both what we had before moving to the new stadium
Wenger assumes complete control so he also deserves complete blame and if he doesn’t win anything this season then it should be his last but his achievements still outshine any Arsenal manager before him and for that he deserves RESPECT
Totally agree that Wenger deserves respect .He has flaws and has made mistakes but the hatred spewed out towards him by plastic fans living in cloud cuckoo land is out of order.Fans complain about a lack of loyalty by the players but then turn on the greatest ever Arsenal manager because of a perceived lack of success.I feel frustrated by the last few seasons but still see positives with Wenger at the helm. Some of the rubbish written on other Arsenal blogs by deluded self publicists is quite laughable.Youth isnt the only way and Wenger isnt stupidly blind to the fact.Lets look forward to a bright future and hopefully a successful 2011-2012.
Has there ever been such BS written on this site as the above?
I’m refering to Moses Watasa not Andrew btw
What a pathetic spew from Moses Watasa. Which club do you really support? It’s certainly not Arsenal. Crawl back under your stone and squirm.
You kept this under-wraps, Jamie! You’re usually the first to come out with stuff like this 2 months in advance =P
Seriously! Sanderson never gets scooped, so I can only assume he was holding out on us!
Barcelona Fan In Peace,
I am very dissapointed that we lost both Toral and Bellerin.
Bellerin is one of the top prospect in La Masia, he reminds me of David Villa, very clinical striker who also plays as a winger. He was supposed to be in the squad next year but he went to Arsenal.
Toral is an Arsenal fans who alongside Samper is one of the best midfielder since the Cantera of 86 which was Messi-Fabregas. He is very physical and clinical, he reminds me of Xabi Alonso and he is very tenacious. He also has fantastic vision.
Both of these canteras graduates were very highly rated in Spain, they were the top players since Messi/Fabregas. I am very angry that Arsenal signed them but i wish them good luck.
I’m an Arsenal fan, but I don’t like the fact that the club is able to “snatch” youngsters from Barcelona or other clubs. The Toral situation was a one-off, he was clearly not interested in remaining in Barca but players like Bellerin, Merida and Fabregas were offered a professional contract by Arsenal which couldn’t be matched by Barcelona. UEFA needs to do something about it.
Yay, Another 16 year old!
Ridiculous.
Take that barca we once again took more of your top talents keep up the good work wenger…IN ARSENE WE TRUST….GUNNER 4 LIFE….
They use our training ground we take their player…LOVE IT! Youth team has some great quality and apparently Toral is that good that they thought he’d be good enough for the 1st team in the next 3 years; as for Bellerin I’m not sure but he’s been educated at Barca’s academy so I’m guessing he’ll be a good addition. Now for the first team signings to commence, unlike many Arsenal fans I’m not keen on too many players coming for loads of money to sit on the bench eg. Cahill would have to sit on the bench because if he was in our 1st team, he’d make it even shorter than it already is
LOVE YOU ARSENAL WE DO!!
Never seen either of them play so I have no opinion on this whatsoever. If they’ve come through La Masia they’re more than likely gonna be good though.
When you lose 5-6 youth players because they are not good enough they do need to be replaced. If an opportunity arises for a young star you take it. If you hang about in 5 years time you might have to pay 30 million.
Arsenal will sign some senior players and he wants to get them involved with the squad as soon as possible. There will be a signing before Asia I think and also before Emirates cup.
I also understand Wenger’s reservations on Cahill. Clubs these days have so much info on a player they know better than us as to what they will be like.
enough with the spanish players please. all of them seem to want to go back home to spain too early
It just shows though barca is not as all cut out as its supposed to be with all there top young talents leaving.
J i thought we was trying to steer clear of these Spanish players?
At leave we’ll get 30-50m if they get big. Thats thing with these youth signings, its win win. If they dont make it, does’nt matter, did’nt cost much, if they do and want to leave we get a huge profit
In Arsene i trust!
footage of bellerin hes playing rb for this game hes number 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTipLaH-4dM&feature=related
cjc87 i’m at work so no access to youtube – Quick descrption on what he is like if you can? Cheers
he looks a solid player, i must say i thought he would b a lightweight but he looks a good capture hes a winger/full bk he likes to get in spaces and take players on and hes the lad barca want hes team mates to give balls to run on to and whip in crosses. defensively he looks a tidy player good on the ball (arsenal/barcalona)style,he looks good in the air and gets stuck in hes not the tallest but looks like a jack wilshere build.i think wenger has got 2 great players in toral-harper and bellerin for the u18/reserves we needed a right full bk/winger there. now wenger mate lets get a 1st team cb (good bye squalachi your so bad i dont no how to spell your name) a cdm to rotate song with (parker)would b ideal and a goal scorer…. 3 players that are premier league/champions league players players that play in big GAMES………..
Yah, just so I never have to respond to another douche bag writing how Wenger is the worst thing that has ever happened to Arsenal, Arsene and the board members take all the money home and sleep in it and all we sign is kids……….automatic response from all of us true Arsenal supporters…. “FUCK OFF you glory hunting morons that know nothing about how football really works and think Arsene’s job is the same as playing FM. We get it, you are stupid. You don’t have to keep showing it by writing your hate messages all the time. Cheers.”
Now back to the topic. Great signing, the more top talents the better. I read some where the other day that Barcelona signed 7 youth players from Espanyol and Espanyol are calling them hypocrites.
+100
Just out of question, if he is on the B team, that means he wasn’t good enough to make the A team, because each level is separated to and A and a B team based on skill level.
I’m not saying he isn’t good, just wondering if he was such a good talent why he wasn’t on the A team?
Also, what’s this I hear we are letting Barcelona train in our stadium before the Champion’s League Final? better keep Cesc away…
Bellerin plays for Cadete A and Spain U16s as well.
Bellerin is in Cadete A now but that’s actually beside the point. The Cadete system isn’t really about skill level so much as age. Cadete is generally Under-16s, with Cadete B usually 13 or 14 and Cadete A 15 and 16 year olds. While there is some room for being rushed through if you are of truly outstanding quality, this is highly unlikely even then, partly because Barca like to foster a group mentality at La Masia. You’ll see that Barca’s current Cadete A team (including Jon Toral, Sergi Samper, and Bellerin) were all born in 1985, while the Cadete B team were all born in 96 and 97.
Bear in mind that Cadete B is the equivalent of the under 16s here, who J rightly chooses not to discuss much. Juvenil is more like the under-18 team and is broken up more into skill level, because the jump between 16 and 18 is relatively negligible compared to 14 to 16.
In that youtube video it says Cadete A but I don’t know much about what they call their teams there.
Cesc was in New York yesterday with RVP. Not sure how long he’ll be away…
J its about time to update the player profile section
suck on it barca you dirty rats. every time i read reports on how furious they are it just makes me smile. this is karma for their disgusting cesc campaign last year.
Xavi Quintilla next……
Nck’em all lol
Its nice to see henry will be back for the emirates cup…GUNNERS LEGEND….i wonder will wenger have a job available for him when he stops playing it would be nice to see him back.
I know its off the point but it will be good to see henry back for the emirates cup…GUNNERS LEGEND….i wonder will wenger have a job available for him when he stops playing it would be nice to see him back.
I think Mr Wenger is playing a long game here ~ these players grow up together so homesickness should not be problem, if they all progress at the same rate here, and go into the first team together, happy days, if not we can sell for lots of money in the future, they are already schooled in an arsenalesque way, the futue is bright ~ now we just need to sort out the first team and away we go. Moses you have issues I don’t think arsenal is the team for you, no manager (including old red nose), will slag off his own players in public, why when so called fans like you and the english gutter press are quite happy to do it, oh and as a footnote Evra is a c##t! blatant tapping up of an Arsenal player but as usual nothing will happen because the media bias encourages it!
Here is my take – Arsenal FC operates on BUDGETS which includes Transfer fees and wages. In arsenal wages are distributed among players in such a way to avoid huge gaps among players. If you noticed we only sign players after another one is been sold. We never just sign a players with a transfer fee and wages coming from Sheilks or Russia money.. We signed Arshavin and his 80k/wk in Mid -Jan on negative balance with the hope of selling someone in June. We later Sold Adebayor on same wage but excess in Transfer fees. (25-15)=10. We also improved wages of some players during the summer of that same year. Kolo Toure was also sold for 14m and we bought TV5 during the same period. We later paid for Kos based on the left over on Adebayor and his wages also was compesated for from the wages left by Gallas. Squillaci came in for Mikael and the wages was around or a little better than that of Mikael.
I will employ people or fickle fans to watch what we sell and the corresponding wages to what is likely to be bought and the wages as well. At Arsenal, we cannot afford to buy a 20Millio player with a 120k/wk player without any money coming from player sales. Another example is Szecezny Vs Almunia. Almunia was in the last season of his contract but his wages has already taken out of the books to support Szcenzny new improved wages.
Yah, we have always been a one out one in club who never sells the true top players in their prime. We also sign others out side of that structure but once again, it all comes down to the stadium loan. I just don’t get what is so hard to see about this to some people.
Do we signed him?
Yes or No?
From what i can see, Bellerin is a right back. Am i wrong?
HE CAN PLAY ON THE WING ASWELL NO DOUBT.
Yes !!! We’ve become a feeder club for Barca. We get all their unwanted players or the ones they think need toughening up and we sell them all of our quality players just before or during their prim years.
Exactly which amazing irreplaceable players did we sell to barca in their prime. We use Barcelona in my opinion. They pay us crazy over priced fees then we replace that player with a better one.
Sergi Samper is a xavi clone lol.
He’s exactly like xavi maybe his passing isn’t there but touch, movement is like xavi!
Toral is a 6ft 3 strong, fast, energetic central midfielder very skillful, can see a pass and score goals!
Do we signed a player named charly musonda?
Anderlecht 14 years old

please wenger why continue buying young players? better leave arsenal in peace
I hope Toral and Bellerin look deep into the reasons why Cesc made it here and Merida didn’t. There is no doubting Merida was a talent but there seemed a complacency in him as if being dubbed ‘the new Fabregas’ was qualification enough to make the first team. As soon as Cesc came into the team he was willing to fight. His attitude and intelligence really set him apart from all the other talented teenagers.
I also hope Wenger gives them English loans if and when they reach that stage of their development. The Spanish loans seem more miss than hit.
Is he signed?
What a good talents the future is bright, we need players from all the world thanks to our scout for identifing this spanish blood please check if there is any chance of bringing argentina player for where we got this once’s and we may get the next messi since we miss out on signing messi when we sign fabregas hehehe…
