Héctor Bellerín will join Arsenal in the summer, after rejecting a new contract at Barcelona. The pacy winger, who can also play up front, joins for a compensation fee of around €400,000.
Bellerín’s transfer may have come in under the radar, but his reputation in Spain is clear to see. A quick-sillver right winger blessed with excellent technical ability and a bag full of tricks, he is just as at home in attack, where he loves to poach in the penalty area.
However, while his reputation in Spain might be very good, the 16-year-old hasn’t made the best start to life at Arsenal, telling the press he hopes to return to Barça in the future.
You can view a compilation of Héctor’s highlights at Barcelona here.
wenger’s such a mug, only been here 5 minutes and he’s already talking about going back to barca in the future
He can go back there for £50 Million once he has made a name for himself
If he helps us win trophies, get the best out of him and gives 100% then im more than happy.
Not the best of starts, but I can remember being 16 and I’m glad nothing I said was recorded at the time.
Look – sometimes those answers are given in response to leading questions. Don’t be so cynical.
I’m not impress, look like a David Beckham type of plaer, and for $400,000 it’s a little too much.
Who can blame him for wanting to go back to Barcelona! He puts all these great balls across the box from the right but we have no one in the box to get on the end of them! We should never have sold bendtner! (written June 2015)
We’ve bought so many youngsters in the last 12 months. I wonder why ? Our local lads who are born in 1995 look good but we bought quite a few others born in 1995. Jack Jebb,Hayden,Lipman and Chuba Akpom while Jeffrey who is winger born in 1994 all look good but now we bought 2 more wingers Bellerin and Serge Gnabry. Toral and Olsson are central midfielders like Jebb and Hayden.
What will be our starting XI in the U18s next season ? I am not even including the first year scholars who played this season.
The reason we bought so many youngsters is because logically not all of them will make it at arsenal. A lot of teams have very large youth squads because the gems will be kept and the rest will be sold for profit. Its an excellent way of doing things (supplemented with experience of course!)
Could you post a link of where he said he wanted to return to Barcelona? I never take any comments seriously unless I have seen the context. Anyways, this is football and most players have ambitions to join the best team in the world (which at the moment is Barca) so if we are not going to sign players just because of that then we will never sign any players.
Also, I watched that espanyol game that the guy posted earlier and he played right back and from the video he definitely looks like an attacking right back.
Its quite funny really, not even here yet and the spanish media are talking about bringing him home. Not too concerned with his comments he is only 16 so lets not attack him yet.
Just hope he’s worth the trouble I can see him causing in a couple of years time, no easy fix to this conundrum as we want the best young talent available, but sometimes that comes @ a cost too….
@shane JS tweeted this as his quote “you never close the door.Barca is a great team,i hope to win titles in years to come and will one day return to this club
Sorry peeps my bad it is “and well one day return to this club”
Fact of the matter is we’ve signed a great prospect for the YOUTH team who comes from a club which instills a winning mentality in their players from a young age. Together with Toral Harper ‘home sickness’ should be less of an issue in future years.
The players can’t get judged until they pull on an Arsenal shirt and prove their merits though the synergy of an Arsenal/Barca footballing education should give ’em every opportunity to fulfill their potentials.
No brainer, top youth signing!
Thats cool. ‘One day’. They can have him back when he reaches 30! That way there will be no Pique or Puyol (unless my theory is right and Puyol is actually a robot, that will be around for hundreds of years, with a mission to be a twat to Arsenal)
We’ve found a new Fabregas on the wing in this kid. His final balls are a forwards dream
He’s just 16 and he hasn’t even arrived at the club yet. Had I taken a massive leap like that a that age, moving to a foreign country and leaving my friends behind, I don’t think I’d be burning my bridges either.
massive leap my arse. He could be home during the week
Christ Almighty, get rid of this bastard Wenger & the board that encourage ie
Well if we can get him, develop him, then sell him back to Barca for £50M, without having built our team around him, then I am cool with that.
Look at it this way, if Barca ever do come knocking back on the door for him, then he will have been a very, very good player for us.
Do we signed a player named charly musonda?
Anderlecht 14 years old
@meir maori according to JS we are still watching so not yet signed. Btw the kid Bellerin better start learning english cos of his tweet
really improved signing i would say,& helping out barca with our training ground is bound to mend relations,,we need some more top class youth signings
now if only we could sign samper
please send friend request to my fb account Mshtq MF
he looks a solid player, i must say i thought he would b a lightweight but he looks a good capture hes a winger/full bk he likes to get in spaces and take players on and hes the lad barca want hes team mates to give balls to run on to and whip in crosses. defensively he looks a tidy player good on the ball (arsenal/barcalona)style,he looks good in the air and gets stuck in hes not the tallest but looks like a good build for 16.i think wenger has got 2 great players in toral-harper and bellerin for the u18/reserves we needed a right full bk/winger there. now wenger mate lets get a 1st team cb (good bye squalachi your so bad i dont no how to spell your name) a cdm to rotate song with (parker)would b ideal and a goal scorer…. 3 players that are premier league/champions league players players that play in big GAMES………..
Arsenal should not buy him because he say he want to go back to Barcelona one day. How can he be faithful when play for Arsenal? I feel like he is just using Arsenal but we can sell him for more money in return in the future! :)
I want all arsenal players to show their commitment, faithful and focus.
Yeah thats not a great thing to say but we don’t know the circumstances. Look at it this day, we’ll probably get goals, assists and games out of him. An maybe, one day, some lovley millions. From Barca, lol, I don’t even care, I find selling them back there players hilarious!
16 and his crossing and vision is incredible, hopefully he can develop well at Arsenal and become world class. It’s a shame the 1st team haven’t won anything for so long because now Wenger has to spend rather than integrate youngsters because bringing them into an already young team who have won nothing is risky. Hopefully by the time this guys 18/19 we’d have a won a couple of Leagues and a cup or two
Is he signed?
I can’t see how he’s also adept as a striker,to me he looks like an ordinary winger who puts the ball into the right areas, could be a useful player and as we know arsene loves to switch players from their original position so to me I reckon he’ll end up as a right back.I can understand people obviously a bit annoyed as the general feeling with regards to Barcelona born players is that they’ll ‘go home’ eventually but the main reason why players want to play for them I’d because they’re the best,by the time these boys have grown and matured with us to hopefully top level the likes of xavi, iniesta, villa, puyol etc etc will be nearing the end of their careers and who’s to say they’ll be as formidible a side? There’s no guarantees, nothing lasts forever!Either way we’ll make a bucket load of cash if we do sell them so who cares!
well if he belongs to the first team in the future and we are winning trophies every season, then I am sure he wants to stay and win some more. If he leaves then so be it. At least he will help us to develop some of the other youths in the same team as him. Its a massive win for us to have been able to sign this kid.
How is that bad???? He wants to return one day… well Fabregas wants too. But Fabregas has been here for some time and has helped us so damn much. People needs to think.
Wait about 5/6 seasons when Barca need to replace more than half their team. coz it seems like the next generation are deserting them.
Why are some of you negative. So what if somewhere down the line if he might leave. 2 points – it’s Arsenal and the fans job make life good enough that he doesn’t want to go and secondly would you not date the best looking girl in town because she might not want to marry you and have your kids in 10 years time. Enjoy what’s in front of you
Love the photo of him – has he just stolen the other kids lunch money in a Tony Soprano style. Love the kid already
The same old story. He comes to Arsenal from Barcelona, becomes a great player and then goes back to Barcelona(to win trophies ofcourse!).Who says history does not repeat itself?
if wants to go bk to barca in the future why didnt he just stay there then lol
Anything that pisses of Barca is great! These two kids look class and if they stay around to have anywhere near the influence of Cesc and then we sell them back to Barca for loads of cash then all well and good!
Subesh, what same old story are you talking about? Cesc hasn’t left yet and Fran Merida didn’t go back to Barcelona. He went to Atletico de Madrid because he was released. The only player to leave La Masia for an English club only to go back later in his career was Gerard Pique.
impressive crossing, great vision, and unlike Sagna can cut inside. looks long way off EPL pace though. but looks promising for a few years time. Sagna, as much as i love him, is a weakness for us when we attack.
