Carlos Vela played 83 minutes as Sevilla beat Osasuna 2-1 in a game filled with yellow cards, diving and poor tackles.
Vela spent most of the first half on the touchline waiting for the ball, but when it didn’t come, he came inside looking for it, Daniel Alves, a player Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been linked with had the task of marking the 18 year old starlet.
Alves [24] didn’t use his speed, class or experience to stop Carlos, he decided to try and foul him whenever he touched the ball, but his plan didn’t work.
Vela’s pace, power and ability saw him turn the Brazil international all game, Dani was often caught out of position going forward by the lightning pace of the Mexican, if he could just have found a killer pass Osasuna would have been ahead by the break.
Half Time – Osasuna 0-0 Sevilla
Second half was much improved with both sides looking for the win, On 52 minutes Carlos won the ball on the edge of his own area, and darted forward Daniel Alves tried to flatten him, but his electric pace took him away from the Brazilian who didn’t give chase, full of running he clipped the ball into Dady who failed to make contact with his through pass and the keeper grabbed it. Vela pulled up injured.
After a short moment he got back up, Osasuna kicked the ball out for a throw returning the favour after Alves put it out for Vela to get treatment, from the throw Sevilla won a free kick which was badly defended allowing Christan Poulson unmarked to clip the ball past the stranded Ricardo.
it was 66 Min’s in when Carlos was next involved, getting on the end of a cross which Drago kicked away from under him, Vela lost his boot in the aggressive tackle, and the ball went for a throw in.
From the throw the ball was given to Vela who chipped the ball in behind the back-line Dady’s tame shot was easy for the keeper, Sevilla were on top.
Sola switched sides with Vela, who was now playing on the right hand side of a 4-3-3, Drago also opting to kick the Mexican, but Sevilla would be punished.
The ball came to Sola, who drove inside, Vela pulled of his marked and was available for a tap in but Sola continued twisted and turned Poulsen inside out and on his left foot hammered Osasuna level.
With 20 minutes to go Alves’s free-kick was tipped over by Ricardo after a foul from Alves, in which he was elbowed, it was anybody game.
With 15 minutes left Carlos switched with Dady and played straight though the middle, but he didn’t see much of the ball, Sevilla brought Maresca on and were looking for the winner.
But there were caught on the break, the impressive Dady who posses excellent touch for such a big man, cut in and on his weaker right foot blasted an effort off the Sevilla crossbar, Dady was the perfect foil for Vela the two linked up expertly all night, a “little and large” combination.
On 83 minutes Vela was replaced with Punal, an impressive nights work from the teenager, but by now he was looking tired and bruised, despite matching up to the physical side of Sevilla’s play.
For the second match running Osasuna didn’t finish with 11 men, skipper [] was sent of for a second booking, from the free kick Punal nearly put through his own net.
But things got even worse, a hand ball in the box by Javi Garcia, which bounced through Chevanton’s legs and hit his hand, an impossible view for the ref, but he still gave the spot-kick in the 90th minute, sending Vela from his seat on the bench to the sidelines to appeal for his team, Juanfran was furious and got in the face of Drago.
Man City target Luis Fabiano scored, only for a retake to be ordered which Fabiano crashed in the bottom corner, shell shocking Osasuna and bringing disappointment to Vela and his team mates.

great article and really appreciated!
Thanks for the report – I tried to watch it online, but couldn’t really see it well. At least Carlos is being prepared for the physicality of the premiership. He will just need time to come to terms with the speed of play as the Sevilla/Osasuna game seemed to be played at a very slow pace
Brilliant post, well detailed and just what we need!! to shed some light on our next little superstar i am starting to make this blog a constant morning read.. Cheers
that penalty decision was shocking. no way sevilla deserved to win, but i suppose having 12 men helps alot.

i think he’s a real starlet and will be superb for arsenal next season. last summer in the u20 world club Giovani wasn’t playing superior, that means after his recent appearances for Barca quite a lot.
