Arsenal are facing a potential striker crisis ahead of the Youth Cup match with Liverpool in a weeks time, Nacer Barazite is back in training but that game could come too soon for the Dutch Youth international, Rhys Murphy is still recovering from a Hernia injury leaving just Sanchez Watt who is a left midfielder by trade and out of form Gilles Sunu, so under 16 strikers Benik Afobe [14] + Ahmed Abdulla [15] could be drafted into the squad.

All this comes after Rui Fonte suffered a suspected broken nose last night against Birmingham.

Neil Banfield told Arsenal.com

” he has got a left-hook on the nose. His nose is right across his face and we will have to see if it will need an operation or if he wants to play with it. It makes him look a bit rugged.”

In other news Arsenal’s first team play tonight in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg, with some of the Reserves expected to be on the bench, there is even suggestions Kieran Gibbs could start on the left of midfield.

So has Sunu lived up to his reputation as a future Henry type player?

How about Fonte when he is fit, are any of them good enough to make the jump?

Sunu did well yesterday but he looks more like a suporting striker than a goalscorer. Fonte probably will not make it at Arsenal…Only weekness with the U18 team.

I Dont Think Sunu Has Lived Up To The Hype, He Has Been Injured Alot And Now He Is Starting To Find His Feet Abit, He Will Never Been A Big Goalscorer, But A Good Support Striker.

Fonte Is Great But He Doesnt Score Enough Goals IMO, I Think Barazite Is The Best Of The Crop

I’d have to agree with you from what I have seen. He is big, powerful and reminds me of Bobby Pires!

I’m interested to see what happens when Jay Simpson comes back, and obviously Carlos Vela – Merida.

You get the impression the transfer market is going to be quiet this summer with so many good players coming back!

Having seen all those pictures of Rui Fonte posing like a Peaccock on the Arsenal-Mania web site, i think a broken nose will make him concentrate on his game a bit more, instead of his hair cut IMO Lol
