Just a little rumor that’s been going around this week, that Arsenal have in-fact cancelled the contract of Dutch Winger/Striker Vincent Van Den Berg.
Arsenal confirmed he had gone on loan on the 7th of January, but since then we have not heard anything more on him other than news Young Guns and other blogs have on him, Vincent was injured on his debut in a friendly but Arsenal did not mention anything, and usually when players get a serious injury they return to the club there on loan from for treatment, especially with such a long term injured like Vincent’s.
So is it possible we have cancelled his contract? yes definitely, he has failed to make an impact despite being dubbed the new Marc Overmars when he signed in the summer of 2006 from Heerenveen, he has been a regular for the Reserves but has failed to score, he is a good link up player, but lacks composure, and at times it seems like he thinks he is better than playing for our Reserves so doesn’t put the effort in, i would have expected him to be released this summer anyway, but it seems that it may have come 6 months early.

I went to Fratton Park last year to watch our reserves play Pompey. Van Den Berg was subbed part way through the game and he took his shirt off and threw it at the bench, in a real hissy fit. I thought at the time that this is the sign of a bad attitude – remember Jay Bothroyd was kicked out of the club for something similar. So, if your rumour turns out to be true, I am not going to be surprised.
