Arsenal football club have entered transfer talks with Spanish minnow’s Cornella for their 15 year old central defender Ignasi Miquel, according to the newswire Mundo Deportivo.
Former Barca B player turned scout Francis Cagigao has proved one of Wenger’s most trusted, and prized, acquisitions after coming through the youth ranks at Arsenal before his move to Spain, and then into scouting, he used his Barcelona roots to gain information on Miquel who started out with the Catalan giants and played in the Youth ranks for five years , before the coaches decided he had no future with the club and his contract was cancelled, before joining Cornella where he has proved to be a revelation.
Cagigao and Wenger are reportedly set to meet chairman Jose Galvez, sporting director Andres Manzano along with the player’s representative Joseba Diaz before the month is up to try and thrash out a deal, which would mean he signs for Arsenal when he turns 16 in October, His height (1,93) and reading of the game make him an ideal central defender who is particularly strong in the air.
Wenger has a huge reputation for Spanish talent, after the signings of Cesc Fabregas and Fran Merida Perez, but Miquel is in a very different mould,
“He is very tall, which permits him to be good in the air,” Manzano said of the Spaniard in Mundo Deportivo. “He is very comfortable with his left foot.”
It’s been playing in a different position where he has won applause recently, he starred at the heart of the defence for the Spanish under 16 side in Portugal, after previously being a left back, in front of the eye’s of scouts from Europe’s top clubs, But Arsenal must act quickly, with Manchester United, and Villareal already thought to have faxed offers through for a trial, but with Arsenal willing to pay top money in compensation they are the favourites to land his signature, Miquel will be seen as the direct replacement for Rene Steer who is set to be released in the summer.
The media exposure is something Manzano admits is fantastic for the club
“We are surprised and proud that our work has been awarded by a media exposure,”

I think what is needed is more experienced players the last 2 games have proven that ! Ade’s gone 2x 90 minutes scoreless against better teams it only proves to me we can knock off minnows and are better at it this season . We dont have the clout to compete on all fronts so going out of all cups wouldnt be a bad thing , if we did now!
At least we could remain fit for the EPL title ! .. i think thats the only real target this summer if we be honest with ourselves !
HURRY BACK RVP !
Great – just get him and it’s a “hattrick” against Barca after Fab and Merida. What makes it more sweet is that the Spanish yeams all talking week-in-week-out about half the Atsenal squad, never get anyone, and now get slapped once again for their hypocrisy … hahahahaha :))
two things to say to that.
1) this is just a buy for the future, nothing to do with the first team.
2) Adebayor did not play the full 90 against Man Utd, he did not even play 45 minutes.

Miquel is a massive prospect!! He is so huge with 193cm. I hear of him infos as he was playing in the Barca Youth. Great tackler, great in the air, good passing play, good technic. he likes to play as a left back but with 193cm for me is he maybe in the future a center back. He was released by Barcelona because they thought that he has no future at Nou Camp. It would be a great buy for us.
