With today’s horrific injury to Eduardo, (my favourite Arsenal player) Arsenal are not only without one of squad’s kindest, nicest members, but also in football terms, we are now a striker down.
That leaves the following, as forward options.
Emmanuel Adebayor – who has been playing with a injury recently
Nicklas Bendtner – The confident Dane has struggled for goals in recent weeks.
Robin Van Persie – Robin has been constantly injured through out this season.
Theo Walcott – Has been very inconsistent, despite his two strikes today, plus he will be needed on the wing.
So Who Could Come In?
Carlos Vela would be the the best option, he was registered with Arsenal this season, “hence the reason he appeared on Arsenal.com” and with his European work permit being granted in January, we would be able to recall the Mexican, a perfect chance to get him into the side and for him to replicate the form he has shown for Osasuna and Mexico, he came over at Christmas to train with the Arsenal squad, and Arsene Wenger has already spoken on Vela’s talents.
Young Guns has followed the progress of Carlos all season, as well as the other loanees, and we have some scouting reports on his performances, for club and country.
Carlos Vela – Mexico V USA
Carlos Vela – Barcelona V Osasuna
Carlos Vela – Sevilla V Osasuna
What about the other realistic options?, they are Reserve team striker Nacer Barazite, and on loan Jay Simpson.
Jay Simpson.
Jay has been a regular for Millwall this season, playing as a second striker, he has been the more creative of the Lion’s two front men, but he has managed to find the net with 3 goals, including one on his debut in the Johnson’s paint trophy clash with Swansea.
Overall, i do not think he could offer us anything, he is not a natural out and out goalscorer, and i don’t feel he is Premiership class.
Nacer Barazite
Nacer has been fantastic this season, 16 goals so far in all competitions, including two hat-tricks has promoted him to the first team, he featured against Sheffield United, and Blackburn in the Carling Cup, but he suffered a dislocated shoulder in the latter of the two matches, and missed a month, but since his return he has five goals in four matches.
He can play in a variety of positions, including left and right midfield, as well as up front, classy a full of pace and energy, Nacer is almost impossible to get the ball from when he is in full flow, but could he cut it in the Premiership?
There is only one way to find out, Barazite has done the business for the Reserves this term, often playing against Premiership class players.
Our Thoughts Are Of Course With Eduardo And His Family At This Pressing Time.

Are you sure we would be able to ask for Vela back at this time in the season? Osasuna would claim that to bve unfair, as the transfer window is closed so they can’t replace him.
I would love to see Vela play in the Premier League but i have a feeling he would need some time to adapt.
As for Barazite, his performances for the Reserves warrant a game in the first team.

I have no problems with that but it is more likely that Walcott will be given a run.
I agree with Chris, he would need time to adapt so I don’t know how much he could offer us this term. Plus, are you sure he could play for us? I know you can re-call on loan players but does he have a work-permit. I thought he didn’t get Spanish passport till March. And plus, he has never played in England so I think we would have to register him in the transfer window, compared to the Pato case. Pato could not play with Milan until he turned 18. He turned 18 sometime in the fall so they had to wait till the January transfer window to play him.
If anybody knows more about this, please let me know. Maybe I’m just talking out of my ass.
And also, where did you hear this? Is it just speculations or are some of your friends at Arsenal talking about this?
Wishes for Eduardo in these trying times.
Maybe this country does not deserve to see footballers like him display their trade week in week out. Talented foreign footballers would leave this country if it were not for the money they want to earn to get themselves security for the future.
Can we bring back Vela immediately though? Usually those loan deals have something like a go-back clause if need be, yes? I think in the short term Ade, Bendtner and Theo (especially after Eboue comes back from suspension, or use Denilson in RM for now) can cover up front. If Arsene knows it’s a long term thing, with all the cash in the bank, he might make one of those ‘urgent buys’ he talked about before.
But first and foremost, we pray for Edu and really hope he’ll get well soon.
your info is usually great, BUY you are wrong Vela doesnt have a work permit or EU passport till March and cant play till next season
no one can replace eduardo, he was a magician, a class act.
Well Pato did adapt remarkably quickly, if Vela gets recalled I have a feeling there’ll be no trouble with adaptation.
But still, I reckon Wenger would take the safe route and go with Bendtner instead of a recall to Vela – although maybe a Barazite or Van Der Berg can make the bench.
Wenger knows what the best option will be……….Please lets pray for dudu as the pictures we have seen are far too horrific for viewing, some people even say it is a career threatening injury.I say God forbid.Lets keep praying and hope for the best
Wenger is right, Taylor should be banned a lifetime. From the video,we can see how bad his tackle was. That tackle and Eduardo’s injury could be a crucial turning point for Arsenal this season. What a shame as a professional to have such dirty tactic.Hey Taylor! U better go and join World Wrestling Entertainment! In which those nasty things u did wont be disallowed. What a disgrace player…
tad optimistic bout simpson and barazite… feeling that barazite would be playing on the wings anyway as a hleb player. walcott will take the spot as it is obvious that bendtner-ade wont work after tottenham.
4-5-1 against big teams and 4-4-2 with walcott on top until RvP is back..
If Rosicky gets back for Villa than Walcott should be up front with Rosicky on the left. Nicklas and Ade are not good partnership and both of them were poor today, especially Bendtner. He seemed lazy and out of all context with the game.
Wenger has said in the past he doesn’t agree with recalling players back from loan early. He has backed this up by never having done so (except when the loanee himself has been injured in order for him to get treatment with us), even when the loanee seemingly could of really helped out during previous injury crisis’s we’ve had. Not recalling Hoyte when we had several defenders out is the example that springs to mind.
Anyway, Walcott and then Barazite a fair distance behind seem the obvious choices to fill in up front if required, Walcott having already played there this season, and Barazite already being around the first team. I think the most likely scenario however, is we see a lot more of Ade on his own with Hleb behind.
Bendtner was poor?? What about Adebayor and his 1000000 misses and refusal to pass to Bendtner who had an open net in front of him? That f*cker only cares for himself.
yeah adebayor he refuse to pass the ball to free-main bendtner and kill the game with 3-1, its the same situation with newcastle-away when he didnt pass the ball to eduardo to kill the game with 2-0..great player great goals but what a jerk sometimes
cnt players only be re-called if they have a clause in their contract??? Anyway… cant wait to see him next season!
I would also love to see Barazite in the prem… theres no harm in giving him the odd game. I’m also worried about the Bendtner/adebayor partnership… it just doesnt work!! Adebayor refuses to pass to Nicky!!!
