Arsenal’s Under 18’s got their league title challenge back on track at Arsenal Training Centre, Shenley this morning against Southampton.
Dutch striker Nacer Barazite who scored in midweek for Holland Under 19’s bagged a hatrick, his first goal was a simple finish in a one-on-one, with Arsenal in charge Frimpong found Nacer who crashed the young gunners into a 2-0 lead.
Sanchez Watt was then knocked out in a clash with a Southampton player, the England youth international who only returned from Portugal on Wednesday was then replaced with new signing Luke Freeman.
Half Time Arsenal 2-0 Southampton
But it seemed as if the youngsters did not know how to sit on the lead, skipper Paul Rodgers then conceded a penalty which was converted.
But Arsenal kept going, following chaos on a corner, the ball came to Luke Freeman who clipped it home on his left foot, his first goal for the club.
But yet again the Under 18s struggled to cope with the lead, left back Rene Steer gave away yet another penalty to the obvious frustration of coach Steve Bould, the spot-kick was converted beyond Wojciech Szczesny.
But Arsenal’s fitness and talent would show, Barazite grabbed his hatrick with an excellent drive into the net, and with Southampton comfortably beaten Freeman nodded home Steer’s cross to complete a excellent performance from the youngsters.
Full time – Arsenal 5 – 2 Southampton
Goals – Barazite (3) Freeman (2)
Arsenal’s Under 16’s beat Southampton’s Under 16’s 4-0 on Saturday morning.
A stunning hatrick from 14 year old striker Benik Afobe, firstly a well taken penalty, then an excellent free-kick, and a chipped shot which crashed in off the under-side of the bar.
Left full back George Brisnal completed the rout against the the south coast side with a well placed effort.

iv been very reluctant in trusting fan blogs and sites for publishing content about arsenal but this site posts accurate and relevant info on arsenal. the site has become essential arsenal viewing for fans- especially on saturday afternoons after the under 18 and under 16s play!
well done and keep up the good work!
how was luke freeman’s performance in the match?
This is a great website. Well done! It is so good to see something a bit original.
Just one request, please. When you do match reports, like the one above, can you put a headline somewhere with the final score please. You put the half-time score in but not the final score. I found myself tying up fingers counting and I couldn’t use the scroll bar to run down the page!
No problem mate, ive added the scorline now
again, great bit of news that no one else seems to have… very original site… and love the carlos vela news link on the right, makes it so much easier…
Great work, how would u rate nacers’ overall performance of the season out of 10?
Sanderson is not be trusted. hehe. Only kidding mate; nice info.
This site is already amazing but to make it perfect I think you should include ratings. Thank you and, again, nice article
Nacer was the man of the match. Constant threat to the Southampton goal. Freeman’s first goal wasn’t a chip. Freeman was tightly marked by one of the Southampton CB’s (10-15yard out), he made a quick swivel (i.e. very similar to Eduardo’s) and hit a bullet into the far bottom corner. His second was also outstanding – the ball was whip in by Thomas and from the edge of the penalty area Freeman out jump a Southampton CD and header a bullet into the top right of the goal. One of the best headers I’ve seen this year. Particularly as I would say that Freeman is only about 5-8/5-9 – but boy can he jump. I now have seen Freeman 3 times and each time he has improved (first time was very poor). He is small and lacks pace but has good touch/shot, great work rate and knows where the goal is.
Very informative what you´re doing here. Super work lads.
Nacer Barazite and Benik Afobe sound very exciting prospects. hope to see them in Carling Cup action soon.
Somebody needs to start putting the U18’s goals on Youtube seeing as the football matches are on Arsena.tv now IMO
