Ireland In Talks With Arsenal Over Brady

Giovanni Trapattoni, has been named the brand new manager of the Republic of Ireland in a press conference today, and the former Italy manager wants former Arsenal player, and now Head of Youth Development and Academy Director Liam Brady to join the coaching staff.

Liam was also thought to have been a candidate for the job himself, but with the board preferring the more experienced Trapattoni, the Italian coached Brady during his time with Juventus, and is keen to link up again with him, saying:

“I am hopeful Arsene Wenger will let Liam do the job as well as his Arsenal commitment,”

“I knew Liam as a player and I asked him if it was possible for him to work with me a bit.

“He speaks good Italian and he knows the players. We can work together but not all the time because Liam has a good job at Arsenal.”

58 year old Brady is expected to take up the role, but also continue with his work at Arsenal with players such as David Bentley, Jermaine Pennant, Ashley Cole, Steve Sidwell, Moritz Volz and Jeremie Aliadiere all working with Liam before going on to other Premiership clubs.

Brady’s job at Arsenal is to be the link between the parents and the club, dealing with a whole host of matters, he also is at training, and monitors the devlopment of players, he takes charge of offering contracts and releasing players, as well as over-seeing there integration in to the first team.

So do you think Liam should take up both roles? especially with Arsenal’s Under 18s often playing during the International break, or should he choose one or the other?

well it would be good to keep a club legend close to the club so why not, if he doesnt actually manage the youth team then to be missing for a week or 2 during internationals wouldnt be such a big deal?

As long as he can fulfil his duties at Arsenal, why not let him do it. It would broaden his experience and probably keep him happier. I wouldn’t be against it, even if he needed to recruit someone to assist him as Arsenal. His greatest contribution comes from what is in his brain, not from many hours of labour.

Liam Brady is 62? Oh my God!!! Show’s how much i’ve aged. You know another things that get’s to me.. you here all this nonsense every now and again, that arsene wenger, miserly use of english player’s is some how responsible for the demise of the England football team. But how many young english star’s have arsenal produced. If not starring for arsenal, thay certainly have at other clubs.
