As you all know, Arsenal went crashing out of the F.A Youth Cup in the 4th round at the end of January, with Steve Irwin scoring the only goal. Match Report Here

Having scored a hattrick in the last round of the competition midfielder Henri Lansbury has become the lynch-pin of the Arsenal side, but the 17 year old then contracted Glandular fever, and was forced to miss the game, he is also expected to miss the next 4 weeks with the infection.

So i decided to read up abit of the disease, and i discovered something interesting.

How is glandular fever contracted?

The infection is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, which is transferred from one person to another in saliva. Kissing is one obvious way by which the disease can be transmitted. However, the infection is also spread via airborne droplets.

    Hi J Sanderson,

Nice of you to be so dedicated as to to do research on the causes of diseases players conduct but why assuming Lansbury kid had kissed someone to get infected? There many others sources through which he could have got it. Food and drinks or using contaminated cups, glasses or utensils. I found it unbecomming for you to opt for that explanation. Be careful because you may look more foolish than funny.
