Wojciech already had first team experience when he signed for Arsenal after a short trial at the start of the 2006-2007 season, after making his first team debut for Legia Warsaw aged just 15.

On joining the club he signed a 2 year scholarship with the option of 2 year pro deal if he impressed, it took just over a season for Arsenal to active the clause and sign the Polish Youth keeper to a Professional deal, Wojciech’s huge frame haunts any striker but he has more in his locker than just his height, quick of his line as well as excellent on crosses.

In his homeland of Poland, Wojciech is a huge star and rated as one of the biggest prospects for Poland in the future, his father Maciej, was also a goalkeeper and represented his country at full national level.

Szczesny is also good friends with summer signing Lukasz Fabainski, he told Arsenal.com

“Fabianski has the potential to be a big player for Arsenal,”

“I’ve known him for three years or so. I used to train with him at a goalkeeping school, then we played together at Legia Warsaw. We are good mates. We kept in touch when I left Legia and now fortunately we are together at Arsenal.

“Hopefully one day I’ll be No 1 and he’ll be No 2,!”

The future looks really bright for Wojciech, next season it is expected Mannone will go out on loan so he looks set to become the first choice for the Reserves as well as Under 18’s, with James Shea behind in the development stakes Szczesny can look to show his talents on a bigger scale, he will also look to become the number one for the Polish Under 19s.

The problem is that goalkeeper is the only position Wenger doesnt take chances on. You cant blame him for that, expericence is key. Fabianski doesnt look ready; he cost us the third against Spurs, though he showed promise in his earlier games.

Good profile, keep it up mate.
