A quick news round-up, before a “proper” article coming a little later on.
Rui And Fran Called Up For Under 19’s Friendly
Two of Arsenal’s 17 year old talents have been called up to represent their countries, the players in question are Rui Fonte and Fran Merida Perez.

Henri Lansbury is still around two weeks from a come back from Glandular fever, Sanchez Watt has been missing since being knocked out against Southampton, but he could be back for Saturday’s game against Norwich [Preview coming on Friday], Rene Steer has been injured for the past two weeks but returned to training this week.
Anton Blackwood has yet another injury, the former Northampton Town youngster was injured during pre-season training and missed around three months, but since he came back he has been really impressive as well as versatile, but this latest problem is a real set back.
Kerrea Gilbert is thought to be on trial with a mystery club with a view to gaining a loan deal, but he would not be able to play on Saturday anyway, along with Vito Mannone.
Vote For Eduardo !
If like many Gooners you want to help Eduardo, you can vote for him to be “Carling Cup’er” of the year, not only because of his injury, but he also bagged 4 goals, and this helped push him in to the first team.

another good post JS
its good to see our youngsters getting called up to their national teams and Rui and Fran are two of our best youngsters. its also good to see the other youngtsers coming back from injury and playing because thats the best thing for them so they can push on and try and get into the 1st team and i hope the others come back soon. shame about Anton though hope he gets better soon. i voted for eduardo andi hope he gets better asap but realistically hes probably wont be back till 2009 becuase of the type of injury (my mates dad is a doctor) and he said he was lucky.
Do you know what club Gilbert is on trial with and is Mannone leaving us?
thanks
not sure about Gilbert yet, i will of course update the site when the news is out.
and Mannone will be looking to go on loan next term.
oh right so with Mannone going out on loan and Jens Lehmann leaving in the summer that will leave us with only 2 goalkeepers Almunia and Fabianski. does that mean one of the youth goalies will become our number 3 or are we going to buy another goalie?
Not sure yet, i dont think Szczesny is ready to compete yet. so a signing looks the best option.
It would be ideal to sign a goalkeeper like when we signed Mart Poom. Somebody good enough for a third keeper but old enough that he doesn’t have to play.
