Goalkeeper Vito Mannone is the winner of Young Guns’s “Player Of The Month” award for January, The Italian was only involved in two of the four games the second string had during the month as he is too old to feature in the F.A Youth Cup, but an excellent series of saves against a very experienced Birmingham side at St Andrews stood out, especially when Gavin Hoyte was sent off, Arsenal lost the game 2-1 but it could have been much worse but for Vito.
The month started off with a home game against Fulham, more impressive saves in front of a watching Arsene Wenger the perfect way to show he has deserved his new contract extension.
