Arsenal Agree Fee For Metz Wonder-Kid Miralem Pjanić?

Young Guns, is known for its exclusive news, but with this we have even out done our own standards, by confirming Arsenal have agreed a fee with Metz for Bosnian play-maker Miralem Pjanić according to reports comign from the French club, a player Arsenal First team coaching Boro Primorac also said that Wenger`s men are taking interest in, and who he thinks is a very talented young player who Metz will surely not get to keep for long

We broke the news towards the end of last week, that we were keen on him, after a super impressive 9 goals in just 21 appearances for the French side’s first team, but we can reveal late last night a fee was agreed for his services, but the deal is by no means finished, with the left footed wizard still needed to pass a medical and agree personal terms. North London Pride also confirmed we were in talks a few days ago

But the deal does show Gunner’s chief Arsene Wenger’s pedigree when it comes to buying French talents, with Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Liverpool and PSV also keen and thought to be readying bids, but Arsenal have jumped the Que for the free scoring wonder-kid.

Pjanić born in Kalesija, Bosnia Herzegovina is a left footed, central midfielder by trade, but he can also play wide on the left or as a striker, blessed with an exceptional rocket shot, he is also superb on free-kick situations.

After coming through the ranks at French strugglers Metz, his talents were obvious, and he was rushed into the first team, quickly making an impact scoring goals despite only being on scholarship terms, however he quickly signed a three year pro deal, and admitted he was happy at Metz, despite a poll appearing on his official website, with visitors able to choose which of Europe’s top clubs they would like him to move to.

“Everything went very fast for me. The club gave me a chance to prove my quality, and that was the most important thing. That’s one reason I’m staying with Metz.”

“My father and my manager reported to me that Olympique Marseille want to buy me. From all the leagues, my most favorable are Spanish and French leagues. The most important thing for me is to play football, and money comes later.”

There have been doubts over his International future, after he represented Luxembourg, in the 2006 European Under-17 Championships, He scored Luxembourg’s only goal a fantastic first time, long range, dipping effort lobbing Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. In that same year a memorable game against Belgium ended 5-5 with Pjanic scoring 4 goals for Luxembourg.

But he is yet to commit his long term future, with His native country Bosnia-Herzegovina and his current footballing home France wanting him to represent him.

Earlier this week, news appeared on Pjanic’s official website, with the Bosnian admitting he knew the Gunners were keen.

I Am Aware They [Arsenal] And Liverpool Are Wanting To Sign Me, I Want To Go To The Best Team Who Will Look After, And Develop Me

More to follow if/when we can get the news. [Exclusive To Young Guns]

Wow! I never even could lay a finger on a Bosnian star. But what can one say about Wenger. Maybe, just maybe, it should have been a defender, but okay, Necer is in the squad, just preparing to come into the first team. But for now, its’ about winning the premiership, thats’ my dream as a fam. Arsenal has’nt done that for quite a long time.

he will 18 on 2nd April, so not too young to start thinking about a first team place next season. carling cup probably, if we get him. sounds good to me.
we should be buying more of these sorts of players, but some of course wont make it at Arsenal, so we need to plan for wastage. At least then we dont spend vast sums of money and chances are once they’ve been at Arsenal their value goes up.

Arsenal pilliging again i see. And Wenger can take all the credit for a player he had no part in developing. Tell me, when was the last time Arsenal fielded that was brought up through their youth system?

    i accept your point mate.

maybe it is like Jose Mourinho said, Wenger does not develop players, just just takes diamonds and polishes them.

    and Steve Sidwell?

haha, just read that Mourinho bit. sure knows how to press the buttons doesn’t he. he’s right in what he says though. Arsenal really is a unique club. no pressure to win things at all. aslong as they keep reeling in the profits the board have no reason to sack him.

TBH I am sick & tired of Wenger signing these wonderkids and would much rather see him sign some quality players that are ready made for 1st team football. We pay the highest season ticket prices in the PL and Edelman is always boasting about how much is the bank.I would like us to sign players like Micah Richards,Luca Modric & a quality centre forward insted of Wenger spending the money like it his own

Pillaging yum? At least I guess that’s what you meant, hard to say due to your poor spelling, but never mind. What I think you meant is keeping those clubs who don’t get the lion’s share of the money in football alive. How do you think Metz are going to compete with the likes of Lyon, PSG and Marseilles? On their attendances? Not likely is it?
As for your point about our youth system, well England seem quite keen to have Cashley Cole and Bentley in their squad compared to who from Man Utd, possibly Wes Brown. What about chavski? John Terry and that’s it I guess, so we don’t come out of it too bad after all. Shame most England players aren’t good enough for Arsenal.
Wenger picks rough diamonds, brings them to the best facilities in Europe, trains them to play the finest football and then it’s up to the young man himself to prove his worth. If he doesn’t make the grade, most of them will still go on to make a living from the game elsewhere.

You spot on MATT. Wenger’s refusal to spend might very well cost the the title this season. I hope ye go on to do it, but the wheels have come of in a very big way. If he had £70m in tyhe bank in January, why not spend just a portion of that to strengthen the squad?

I’m happy with Wenger. He built a stadium that no other manager on the planet ever could have. So now that the youngsters who took the pain while the stadium was being built are maturing we must now buy players to get ahead of them? Wenger won’t do that. He’s already said that. And I support him. This chasing trophies like Ferguson until you are all wrinkled and senile is rubbish. Or the Mourinho brand of killing the opposition through boredom is unsustainable. Those who know football like coaches around the world, especially Italian ones wish there were more Wengers, for the good of football.

what a load of bloody rubbish, over the last 5 years chelsea abramovich has spent/lent almost £600 million pounds (to lose to Barnsley!!) over and above what chelsea earn over the gate/tv/etc. whilst arsenal our of their own resources have spent about £300 million on the stadium that could have been spent a players – a gap of £900 million!!! and we’re still top of the league at the moment. I think you could only start criticising wenger in 3-4 years if we haven’t won anything but all the signs are (practically all our top players are aged 20-23) that we should have a really outstanding team over the next 5 years or so

Matt and yum – you guys come out with tired arguments.
The other night against milan our youngsters made a name for themselves and increased their value at the same time. There is no guarantee of success cause you have a hefty price tag (Sheva, Veron, Micheal owen, Obi Mikel, Saha, jeffers etc.
We have a unique formula that is works! Wenger has never bought big names unless they were value for money (kanu, Overmars, pires). all the rest made a name for themselves. Im proud of the fact that we develop players rather than splashing the cash.
Well wayne rooney was a pretty good player when he was at everton but im pretty sure he has developed his game more being at Man poo, same wit C Ronaldo he developed into world class at Man Poo does than mean that Man Poo should not get any credit cause they started their careers at different clubs. And also u never stop learning as a player, even in your 30’s so its silly to say that a players development stops at 16 or 17. so moaniniho is chatting shit!!!

Is it just me or do we seem to each year keep being told by Wenger that we are not buying players either during the window or during the summer and then we get to this stage of the season where the wheels start to come off and Wenger starts blaming tiredness – – caused by the panel not being big enough. Am I missing something??
Please Mr Wenger stop buying in Aldi and go and spend some of our money on proven players

Not wanting to be a cynic but Ive just read an article on setanta that contradicts the majority of the news in this piece. According to a quote setanta have from Metz, no formal offer has been made, and the player himself is looking for a more balanced rise to stardom than the meteoric one this article suggests.Dont get me wrong I hope you’re the one who got it right but you might wanna check this out. http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Football/2008/03/10/Premier-League-Arsenal-linked-with-Pjanic/

According to the official website of Metz (http://www.fcmetz.com/fiche-joueur.php?id=616), Pjanic has scored 2 goals but not 9. That still makes him a very good player. Remember that he will be 18 next season, Fabregas was a regular starter at 17. So if we get him, which I sincerely hope we do, then he will be in the first team next season. He says he doesn’t care about money but just wants to play. So if he comes to Arsenal he will be promised first team actions right away. He is not coming over to play with the reserve.

I don’t want to be too eager because I don’t want to get to dissapointed if we don’t get him, and God forbid that Liverpool get him. But I am really excited for him, that would be huge to get such a great talent. His arrival might though end the Arsenal career of either Diaby or Denilson. There is a limited number of attacking midfielder that a one team can have.

The way some of our critics go on you would think we hadnt won anything for about ten years!!! Its only been two seasons and we got to a final and finished in the top four in both seasons. We also moved stadiums and changed a whole team while making a profit on transfers. I dont think thats too bad.

Any club that doesn’t invest in youth in the way that both Arsenal and Man U are doing is stupid. The best players in the league at the moment are Fabregas, Ronaldo and Rooney. All bought by their current clubs as teenagers. Man U are also looking to improve on this front with the likes of Nani and Anderson who look fantastic. In Spain you have the likes of Messi, in Italy Kaka. All bought by their current clubs as youngsters. You can argue that we should buy established players as well, but anyone who disagrees with buying youth is not really looking at the big picture.

    @pjanicRules,
Asmir Begovic is playing for Canada, unfortunately for Bosnia. He is one more Bosnian along Zlatan Ibrahimovic and many others who are playing for other country and not for their country. Bosnian FA SUCKS, they don’t call these players…I hope new Bosnian coach meho Kodro will call Pjanic and, hopefully, Miralem Pjanic will play for Bosnia, not for other country like Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden) who is also Bosnian and Asmir Begovic (Canada), Samir Handanovic (Slovenia), Sanel Kuljic (Austria) and many other players who play for Serbia and Croatia who are Bosnians. I would like to see Miralem Pjanic in Arsenal. He is Arsenal type of player, Wenger would be delighted with him, fans too…

arsenal don´t need Miralem Pjanic, but they have Francisco Merida. He also is wonderkind. For He is the best to go in club where he can play. If he not play in Arsenal, for he better is to stay in Metz, or to go in club from French league 1 Nancy or Marseille

Pjanic’s game against Lyon was incredible.

Too bad Metz’s strikers are too incompetent to finish off his brilliant passes. What strikes me most about his play is the poise and maturity he shows with the ball, every move looks effortless.

This kid is going to be something special… but apparently if the Gunners want him they will have to contend with the likes of Barcelona now: http://m.goal.com/goal_news.php?a=671752&PHPSESSID=9rs33ek95vv6ad9ve6quig7cb1
