England Under 16’s beat France Under 16’s 5-4 on penalties, in the final of the Montaigu Tournament in France yesterday to take away their second trophy out of two, after winning the victory shield in late 2007.
Germany had earlier beaten the Ivory Coast on penalties to finish third, but the stage was set for England V France in Montaigu, coach Noel Blake named three of Arsenal’s four representatives in the starting line-up, Sam Byles started at right back, Emmanuel Frimpong in the centre of midfield and Luke Freeman wide on the left, Oliver Nicholas failed a fitness test and had to watch on from the stands.
After 80 minutes of football, the game was still level at 0-0, so a penalty shoot-out would decide the fate of the two sides, young players with important moments in front of them, Blake sorted the 5 kickers, and things got underway

All converted from 12 yards, however, Lions keeper Jed Steer then saved one, meaning England had a chance to win the tournament, Manchester United defender Ezekiel Fryers stepped up and scored to hand England the trophy.

Jack Wilshere, Thomas Cruise and Kieran Gibbs are all in action tonight for England with the Under 17’s and Under 19’s, Nacer Barazite is also in action for the Holland Under 19’s.

I just thought i would let everybody know that the England U17’s drew 1-1 with the French U17’s team this afternoon, Jack Rodwell scored on 58 minutes for England U17’s team but the French equalized with 2 minutes to go on 78 minutes through a Loic Nego while Israel U17’s team beat the Russian U17’s team 3-1, we play against the Russian U17’s team on Thursday needing a win IMO
