Arsenal Closing In On Metz Youngster Pjanić

Arsenal are eyeing Metz play-maker Miralem Pjanić according to reports in France, the talented 17 year old recently signed a pro-contract has already made 21 appearances scoring nine goals.

But Pjanić is happy to stay at Metz, despite bigger clubs showing interest.

“Everything went very fast for me. The club gave me a chance to prove my quality, and that was the most important thing. That’s one reason I’m staying with Metz.”

“My father and my manager reported to me that Olympique Marseille want to buy me. From all the leagues, my most favorable are Spanish and French leagues. The most important thing for me is to play football, and money comes later.”

But Marseille and Arsenal are not the only clubs eyeing the talent, PSV, Liverpool, AC Milan and Bayern Munich are also keen but the Gunners are thought to be in pole position with manager Arsene Wenger’s pedigree in France.

There is also doubt over his International future, he was born in Kalesija, Bosnia Herzegovina, but Pjanić played in the 2006 European Under-17 Championships for Luxembourg, for which Luxembourg had qualified automatically as hosts.

He scored Luxembourg’s only goal a fantastic first time, long range, dipping effort lobbing Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo. In that same year a memorable game against Belgium ended 5-5 with Pjanic scoring 4 goals for Luxembourg.

But he is yet to commit his long term future, with His native country Bosnia-Herzegovina and his current footballing home France wanting him to represent him.

As a player, he can play on either flank, as well as a central midfielder, at 17 he plays with the talent and style of a player ten years older, his goal scoring ability is nothing short of exceptional.

Arsenal are also monitoring the progress of Pjanić’s Serbian team mate Ljubomir Fejsa, the holding midfielder was close to joining Hertha Berlin in the January window but after complications with the paper work, Berlin signed the impressive Gojko Kačar instead,

Fejsa is rated as a wonder-kid by the French outfit, and has already featured for the Serbia national team against Kazakhstan.

excellent post mate, i find your website quit exciting and helpfull to keep up to date with the progress Arsenal’s young guns are making. There is one thing i would like to ask you though, do you think by releasing news on which youngsters Arsenal want to buy it may alert other clubs and make them come in with bids hence increasing the competiton to sign him and his price?

Why would Arsenal even consider bying this Miralem Pjanic kid when they already have Jack Wilshere at the club and who also plays in exactly the same position he does, eg on the wing or in the hole as an attaking midfilder play maker IMO

hope we can get a young, free scoring striker. i believe that we do not have a reliable scorer in our reserve team. it is so rare a team can produce a great striker from their academy these days.

Jack Wilshere is only 16, he is at least 2-3 years away from making the first team whereas Pjanic is already scoring goals at a top level.

I’ve watch him in the French league and he’s really Arsenal-style allover. Great ballcontroll and first touch.

I thought at first that those stats were for the reserve team or something. That guy is amazing. Do you realize that he is born the same year as Merida and Barazite?

Scoring 9 goals in 21 games for a 17 years old midfielder is something I can not believe. If we buy this guy, we have bought the next Fabregas or next Kaka. With Fabregas aldready in the team he will probably play more out wide or as a supporting striker.

If we get this guy in the summer, than I have only one thing to say. Wenger is not buying him for the reserve, he will be fighting for a first team spot right away. I hope we buy him and get rid of that god damn Eboue.

Just wanted to note that his international future is no longer in doubt. He was recently issued a Bosnian passport and will probably make an appearance for the national team in the friendly coming up in a few weeks against Macedonia.

Hopefully, Miralem Pjanic will play for Bosnia, not for other country like Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden) who is also Bosnian. I would like to see Miralem Pjanic in Arsenal. He is Arsenal type of player, Wenger would be delighted with him, fans too…

    Bosnian
